DD is now 14 and has become quite adept in the kitchen and now call her my sous chef. She'll prep the food while I cook, make the sauce, whatever. Over the past few weekends I've been getting back into my scrapbooking after a 2 1/2 year hiatus (family death caused me to lose my mojo). My room was so neglected and disorganized and I can't scrap in that state. I got my general supplies mostly organized and purged lots but oh the piles of unsorted photos, the albums all out of chrono order. Its bad enough that I'd scrapped some of the same photo layouts TWICE! I asked DD if she'd be my scrapooking sous chef and it's working out great! I sat her down in the living room and she organized the printed photos in piles as I desigated them. She did it quick and easy, just used printer paper folded in half to sort different subjects as folders and then into a shoe box. We didn't over think it and she got the huge job done. After I went back and put them in a more orderly fashion in regular storage but the busy work was done and it took me no time they were already presorted! Next I asked her to do the same with hers and her sister's school memorabilia. She actually enjoyed doing it, she loved going through the pictures. Next I'll have her break down some of my paper pads and refile in to the color organizers. I can think of all kinds of little jobs she can do for me, it's working out great. I'm paying her with shopping money, but honestly she's so good she doesn't mind at all. Aren't I the lucky? Just thought I'd share in case you've got a someone around who you think might not mind helping you with the time sucking chores that keep you from actually scrapping. Its been a tremendous help to me.

Love that you two are getting to share something you love together. Some people are just really good at organization or tasks that others hate to do. It really has to help your mojo.
When my boys were younger, I would pay them $20 to dust my blinds (thoroughly). It took them about 90 total minutes to do (had to get out a ladder) and they got really good at it. They thought they were getting the better end of the deal. Ha. I hated doing it and I would have paid them double not to do that chore.

I didn't realize they were useful for blind dusting... But seriously, that's great <3

That way they are eager to do other things for cash. Mine had their own lawn business by 10. They didn't even look for "real" jobs until seniors in high school because the money was so good. Then they did both all through college. I would NOT recommend having kids for blind dusting. While it is a great perk, they are so dang expensive you'd be better off to hire someone to do it! And no amount of blind cleaning can make up for the, "What's for dinner?" question for 20+ years!

I need one of those sous chefs! My dog could not be any less interested unless it involves something to eat.

She really is a mini me in so many ways. This past year in lockdown really cemented us together lol. I love these responses, lol.

I "hired" my 14-year-old about two years ago to be my "personal assistant." She reminds me of things, keeps track of what I need at the store, writes lists etc. I haven't had her sort my scrapbook stuff but now I might...
