We all got both Covid vaccines a while ago. Moffitt DID impress us with the slight chance of still getting Covid, and to continue to be very careful. DH has such a low immune system.
About 10 days ago, DH began to feel ill. He felt like he had a fever (he didn't), he was exhausted, nauseous, achy, and he did vomit for a day. He seems to be getting worse. He slept in our bed last night because he thought he'd have an emergency. He imagined either Covid or sepsis (he had it 3 times). His temp went up to 102.1 towards the morning, but then back down (without tylenol). Still, he's in bed and exhausted.
His primary doctor asked if I could bring him in & he really is unable to get around, even with his walker right now. They told me that if this continues or if he feels at all worse, to call an ambulance for him. They suggested that he get tested for Covid.
We are all very careful here with our rules. We don't socialize. DH doesn't go anywhere except in the car. He's still "not allowed" to go into a food store yet...... I'm trying to keep him as safe as I could. But it makes me wonder if DD or I possibly shed the virus with one of our trips to Publix?? We do try to change our clothes and wash up, and he doesn't touch the grocery bags. We ALWAYS wear masks when we go out, but you just don't know. I'm worried sick that he might have it, and that we might have passed it to him somehow.
Does anyone know of someone who got Covid after their vaccinations?? He's about 2 months (or more) out from getting the shots, and we got ours right after that........ TIA.

They told me that if this continues or if he feels at all worse, to call an ambulance for him. They suggested that he get tested for Covid. With all his health issues, I would not wait. His current symptoms sound like COVID. He is vaccinated and supposedly COVID would be not as bad if he was not vaccinated. It could truly be something else. Also..COVID is not passed via groceries or the bags they are in.

I'd get him into the doctor or hospital now. There is no need to wait. The vaccine is not 100% immunity.

Only a % of people wore masks throughout the pandemic, and now I'd guess that about 10% wear them, so I feel like it's still a risk, and I worry that we could pass that to DH.
I did just check with Walgreens and they have the OTC rapid COVID test. It only takes 15 minutes at home for the result. I might pick up a few of them, but you're right--knowing DH's health issues, it's likely to be an infection or possibly sepsis.
He's sleeping right now (no fever), but I'll have him go to the hospital if this continues any longer. Thanks.

Thank you PLurker CeeScraps also for your words. Getting things ready here and I'll either follow an ambulance (if he is too weak) or I'll take him to the ER. Words of wisdom from you all. xo

Ambulance! Why? Because he will get looked at right away. If you drive him in then you'll have to wait.

I hope everything goes well. If he has covid, please don't blame yourself. An acquaintance of mine works in a nursing facility where all of the employees are vaccinated AND tested weekly, all of the residents are vaccinated, and no visitors are allowed. One of the residents fell ill with covid last week. There were literally no more precautions they could have taken. Sometimes it just happens.
Praying your DH feels better soon.

My husband had his second dose of Pfizer April 1. A couple weeks ago he had covid symptoms. He had a rapid test and it was negative. still felt bad so went to dr. The dr. said he has classic covid symptoms but didn't have him get another test. So we don't know. He was only at our daughters college graduation, then out to dinner after. First time at a restaurant in over a year.

I would err on the side of caution and call an ambulance. He’s getting worse and something is up if he’s running a fever. They symptoms are those of Covid, but also a dozen other things. A fever will cause aches. The sooner he is seen, the less intervention he will need to recover.
I was just tested a few weeks ago. The only thing that I’d been in public for was my 1st vaccine and I was 2 1/2 weeks out from that. But I had a fever and aches so I got tested. Luckily, our clinic also does a full exam and I had strep throat. How? I have no idea. Step does lurk on surfaces, but I literally hadn’t touched anything other than my own pen when at the vaccination site.
I’d guess that your DH doesn’t have Covid, but he does have something. It’s time for the doctors to figure out what that is. I’ll say a prayer that it’s an easy fix.

Thinking about you and your husband.
I do know someone personally (and then a couple relatives of friends) who got COVID after being fully vaccinated, but their symptoms were nonexistent or incredibly mild, likely due to the vaccine!

Remember not to consider the fact that he has no fever to be that he is getting better if he has taken Tylenol. With his history, I would get him in to be seen. His body is probably still fairly fragile from all he has been through so he needs to be watched much more closely than the rest of us. Please keep us updated.

I’m so sorry your husband is sick, and agree with the rest that he should be seen right away.
Keep in mind that rapid (antigen) Covid tests are not terribly reliable. PCR is the one you’d want to be sure.
While some illnesses are passed on from surfaces to hands to mouth/eyes/nose, it’s highly unlikely that happened with Covid. Early recommendations about mail, groceries, etc., were found to be unnecessary. You’re washing you hands well when returning home so are doing what’s important.

How is your husband doing, @bergdorfblonde? I’ve been worrying about you both! With his history, I would have him seen. It doesn’t matter whether it is COVID or not, he doesn’t sound like he is doing well and needs medical attention.
