Yes, even with the vaccine some people can still get it. Especially for those with certain conditions, like immune issues, as the vaccine just isn’t as effective. I’m glad you decided to take him in. And know you’re doing everything you can, please be gentle with yourself and try not to feel guilty. How is your husband doing, @bergdorfblonde ? I’ve been worrying about you both! With his history, I would have him seen. It doesn’t matter whether it is COVID or not, he doesn’t sound like he is doing well and needs medical attention. I agree! I’ll be thinking of you both and hope you’re back home resting soon.

Sorry I've been off the grid for what seems like forever!!
DH didn't go to the hospital. He just wanted to get rest at home and "fight this off". (I should learn not to listen to him sometimes!!). He DID feel a bit better. He's eating now and his stomach issues got resolved, but he's still exhausted and not himself. His strength seems to be lacking. He needed help sitting up in bed, which is worrysome. No fever or any other upsetting stat. His blood pressure, oxy sat, pulse all seem normal, as does his temp. Everything with his ostomy is in check. He's "presenting" as though he has a slight infection or flu.
Today he confided in me that he's "blue" (depressed). He's on anti-depressants and he speaks with his therapist monthly. I'm not good with giving advice about depression. I told him that we could talk about whatever is going on in his head. I told him that I could arrange an online session with his therapist now if he needs it. I'm watching him closely for now. I think he's just really fed up with feeling physically dependent on me (which is furthest from reality). He asked me not to call anyone until tomorrow and just let him rest today.
I'm trying to think of what would cheer him up today......... I FULLY understand the frustration of physical limitations, but mine never reach the point of depression.
If I see anything getting worse, I'll call an ambulance (without his approval), but now I'm thinking that some of his physical complaints might be related to his feeling depressed.
THANK YOU for your posts and your input. I really appreciate it. I'm trying my best to keep tabs on him and to get him whatever help he needs.

Oh dear, I am so sad to read this thread. I pray that your DH is feeling much better today. Our mental state can affect our physical health in so many ways. I hope he's able to talk to his therapist, as well.
I'm praying for you too! You both have endured more than anyone should ever have to. I want, very much, for you two to have some time to just enjoy life. Sending lots of love your way. Please keep us posted. We care deeply for you both!

Just checking in for an update. Hope he's improving @bergdorfblonde So sorry for not checking back in! Still taking care of DH. I took him for his cancer testing on Wednesday. We trust them above any of his other doctors. They took his blood and said he couldn't get his CT scans (with contrast) bc he was severely dehydrated. His kidney levels were so high that it was scary. Thank God they knew enough not to still give him the scans! His doctor said that his marker all looked good. She put in for a Nephrologist to see him. Still waiting for the call, and I didn't ask what to do if DH didn't bounce back by now. I've been making sure he has 80 Oz of water per day and he's at least eating lightly, but he's still weak and exhausted, and he feels like he has a fever (he doesn't). Just watching him minute by minute. I'll call Moffitt in the morning and see if he should go to the hospital there. DH keeps telling me that he's feeling "a bit better" but I know he's not.

Y'all have really been thru the wringer. Hope he feels better mentally and physically. Thank you all for posting , really!! edie3, I pulled out the 2020 calendar I had and when I saw all of his chemo, surgeries and emergencies for both of us, I was stunned. When you're going thru it, you don't have time to think about it. I appreciate this from all of you!

Thank you seaexplore I brought him to his primary doctor's office this morning. He got IV fluids because he was so dehydrated. They are monitoring his renal function, etc., until we could see a decent nephrologist. The nephrology doctor at Moffitt had a 9/13 date as the first opening! Trying to keep him on a good path until then. DH did ask for sushi pick-up on the way home after his fluids! I'm relieved. Praying it continues.
