Shimmelle's latest half & half class includes a lift up panel with photos and journaling under it. Maybe this is just another subliminal fear caused by early exposure to Creative Memories, but... I always want my pages in protectors, and I am wondering what the best way to do this is.
I can see cutting a slit in a page protector and slipping the lift up panel through it. But then how do I protect that panel? My dgk's are--almost--finished with the sticky fingers stage, but...
If you do interactive pages--flip flaps, pockets, pull out elements--how do you deal with this issue? Or do you worry about it?

They come in various sizes I used to get something like that from Close to my Heart, but have not seen them lately. Actually have some that you can slip a 4x6 photo into. But the flap on Shimmelle's page is about 8" wide and opens upward, so sticky part of protector would have to be on the long side. Will have to check their website. Now I haven't MADE a page for this class yet. Just thinking about it.

SNAP by simple stories has flaps that have an adhesive strip to secure on a page protector. Amazon and scrapbook. com sell them. They’re super easy to use.

When out of the adhesive snap pockets in the past I made my own by cutting up a pp and using ATG to secure it, then doubling with washi (atg on that too), over the seam.

I have a couple of packs of the Simple Stories brand but never use them. grammadee I can send them to you as a RAK. I’d rather give them to a fellow pea to use instead of trashing or donating.

Haven’t pulled that thing out of its spot in a drawer for awhile. If I could figure it out again, then manage to actually cut and fuse straight lines, it would work, but I don’t have happy memories of the last time I used it...

I was thinking that same thing when I was watching the video grammadee. Does Shimelle ever address it? I didn't think so, but now all the videos are running together in my head..perhaps she doesn't use page protectors. I liked the LO, but I don't think I am making the hidden flap. I totally get the idea of wanting more space on the page for the pics, but if I like the photos enough to scrapbook them, I think I'd just like them to be seen without much more effort lol.

Following… I’m kinda debating about just sliding the whole thing in the page protector. I’m going to scrap pics of a letter dd wrote to our gov about allowing those with certain med conditions to the front of the vax line. I want to record her thoughts for posterity, but maybe not too accessible with the flap. It would still be there if you slid the page out.

I cut the sleeves to allow the feature to work. I'm from the "What, Me Worry?" generation.

I can see cutting a slit in a page protector and slipping the lift up panel through it. But then how do I protect that panel? Shimelle cut a flap on hers, so the lift up panel on the layout stayed flat against the rest of the layout, but the page protector had a flap cut on three sides that allowed her to lift up the page protector flap to open the lift up panel on the layout. This way the front of the lift up panel was protected if you were just flipping through the album. I’m kinda debating about just sliding the whole thing in the page protector. This is what I'm going to do because I don't like the idea of cutting my page protectors.

Another option is Heidi Swapp's panorama page protectors but they're a different setup: the flip opens up to reveal more horizontally. I know she had large 12x12 in the Project Life days and now offers them in 8.5x11 for her Storyline collection.

I think part of the reason I took the class is to try new things. I'd try it on a page and see if I like it. If not, I'd use my Fuse to make what I needed to change it.
