Hello all, real life is been challenging to start the month . . . but finally here is this month's challenge thread!
Welcome to the back to the 2021 Organized 2PeasRefugees scrap challenge. It does not matter where you are in your journey of organizing you are welcome to join us and do a little or do a lot! Find a system that works for you and your space. How do you scrap and shop your supplies? Is your space tiny or a whole room? Do you live where there special considerations such as flooding or dust? There is not one way that is better than another, just what is best for your style and needs!
This challenge is to encourage you to work towards a more organized crafting life, so that you can find what you purchased when you want to use it! My best rule of thumb is that it should not take more than three moves to get to what you want to use on your project.
If you are on a team for the team challenges you can claim 10 points for each hour spent. The time does not need to be consecutive. Bonus of 1 point for each before and after photo. The following tasks will count towards the crafting organization: • Cleaning up after your latest crafting session (ie desk before, desk after) • Scrubbing or vacuuming the floor in your space. Dusting your space (I live in the desert next to a dirt road and own four German Shepherds so this is a regular event ) • Organizing a supply or completely re-doing your entire space. • Sorting, editing, backing up, or ordering photos. • Setting up page kits for photos or organizing the ones that you get as a monthly subscription with photos. • Essentially anything that is related to crafting that needs to be done to “spark joy”! (I’m not necessary a huge Marie Kondo fan . . . but she does have some good ideas!)
So this month the scrappy supplies to organize for bonus points are paints, embossing pastes, glitter, stickles, liquid Pearls, Nuvo drop, sprays or mists, all those little extras you use in scrapbooking or card making! Bonus points, each hour is worth 20 points! Sorry no photos this month at this point, but mine are basically good to go right now!
The NSBR bonus points challenge is to go through your winter wardrobe, and decide what no longer gives you joy . . . and donate it away! Up for grabs is 20 poings per hour PLUS 1 point per item! Since we are entering the summer months, now is a good time to evaluate what you did and did not wear last winter. I know that many of us didn't wear some of our items because we didn't go out much during the pandemic, so be thoughtful about your process. For our peas in the southern hemisphere, consider your summer wardrobe.

The Tonic & Ranger websites have downloadable color charts for their products to help with inventorying what you have and what you need (if you are a collector). I have also created some color charts for brands that I have not been able to find on their websites like Art Anthology, Crafter's Warehouse, Cosmic Shimmer and more. If anyone is interested in getting these feel free to message me to discuss.
Looking forward to getting my items in order for this month's challenge.

I also have color charts for almost all of the above . . . done in color families. I should share those when I have time, which is not right now!

Had to do a little clean up to comfortably start my next round of scraping. 7:18AM - 7:43AM a little less that 30 minutes Way to go!
I had almost 200 sheets of newly purchased cardstock that needed to be sorted into the ROYGBIV bins. Some Echo Pack for $.20 per sheet and some killer deals on CS from Michaels including Spring Glitter, Ombre Brights, and Shimmer. Got it all fit in the appropriate bins, but DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE ANY GREEN CARDSTOCK until I use what I have!

I spent 3 hours downloading photos, sorting into digital folders, sorting photo prints into page protectors by layout. I also spent five hours dealing with digital vintage photos - captioning them, sorting them, identifying them... So this month the scrappy supplies to organize for bonus points are paints, embossing pastes, glitter, stickles, liquid Pearls, Nuvo drop, sprays or mists, all those little extras you use in scrapbooking or card making! I don't have much from this group - a dozen Nuvo drops and 2 distress sprays. So no bonus points for that for me. I do need to USE them more. The NSBR bonus points challenge is to go through your winter wardrobe, and decide what no longer gives you joy This is an area I struggle with. I live in Florida so I have a year-round wardrobe of spring/summer clothes and then I have WAY too many winter clothes for the number of cold days we get. BUT I've used them when we've travelled out of area....but of course not since Jan 2020. And I still like them, they still fit. I think I probably need to get an under-bed tote to store most of them in. But that'll require DH moving our headboard from the old house and assembling our bed since currently we have a mattress and box spring on the floor, sigh.

But great idea, if they still fit, are of a style you enjoy wearing then store them in out of the way like you've suggested!

Worked on cataloging my stamps and dies last evening, spent 2 1/2 hours last night and another 1 hour this morning before work - I will edit this post and insert photo of my current work mess for this project when I go home for lunch. I will be continuing this project this evening so I didn't want to clean up in between.

spent an hour today sorting out a temporary storage solution for about 20 albums - the 8-cube that they were to go on was broken during assembly and they just been stacked on the floor. I remembered an old 30x15x15 two-cube unit from a modular storage system I bought 30 years and 10 moves ago...there are only a few left and most are in DD14's room but there was one in the garage still waiting for a home. So I cleaned it off and brought it in and all of the albums fit - there's no growing space (and several in-progress albums on my desk) so won't work for long but fine for now. Also did some tidying, organising on my scrapbook desk to finish off the hour.

Spent 5 hours 6pm-11pm Friday night cataloging. It was very rewarding. This is an example of how I store my stamps.

I finally found the top of my desk and my craft table yesterday as well as about 9 square feet of floor space. I can finally get to my paper drawers again! Only took 8 hours. Now to tackle the rest of the room

natscraps - well done! MARIBETHR - that looks super organised! I spent an hour yesterday on and off tackling a few organising projects in the craft space - DH assembled another 6-cube unit for me so I filled that, put away some cardstock that was piled rather than sorted (I'm not actually done with that yet, general post-scrapping clean-up...

Really? Your desk has an actual top that is not covered with stuff? Yeah for getting to your paper drawers. It bothers me when my room turns into the dumping ground and I can't get to stuff, but at least I'm getting better at not doing that! Moving always has is upsides, still a lot of work though! Great job

I was stuck in a tiny bedroom with no proper workspace yesterday, hiding from the crazy heat, so I spent some time going through a photo box where I keep a bunch of extra printed photos. I don't really need to keep most of them - I have negatives and/or scans/digital files of them, or similar versions/duplicates that I've scrapped, but they're hard to toss, you know? They were getting curled and I was sure there was junk in there, especially from my film experiments.
I was able to toss a good sized stack of photos that had no redeeming qualities that I took for a color project - all photos of yellow things around town. I found some other duds to toss as well. I was able to reorganize the remaining photos flat so they might be able to flatten out a bit.
I have more to do sometime. I have tons of printed photos and a lot of them don't have much value, not enough to save them on paper, but for now I felt pretty satisfied.
