DS proposed to his gf of 5 1/2 years last Sunday. She'll be finishing her senior year of college next fall and they are making plans for a wedding next summer. I'm so excited. We adore her and she will be a great addition to our family! Just had to share the news! Would love mother of the groom advice from those of you who have been there already!! We already told them that we would love to be part of the plans and help them out wherever they want us to so that they know we're excited and willing, but also so that they know we won't be overbearing and pushy about anything either.

Congratulations! My son and his fiancé have been together since junior high and one day I expect we'll hear they have picked a date. Both are admittedly very bad at making decisions, so we just patiently wait. I think they will wait until she finishes her Physican's Associate degree late next year. I laugh because she already tells people I'm her MIL.

Congratulations! My DS will be in town next week to visit and while here will be visiting our jeweler. He is planning a July 4th proposal in the Hills when they are here visiting together. He is going to scout out some proposal locations while here visiting this week. I have no idea what the plan will be for a wedding - I'm sure we will be traveling to it as her family is in another state.
I have no advise as this will be my first Mother of the Groom tour - My two oldest are girls. We have planned and hosted our oldest daughters wedding and I was very involved. We have planned my second daughters wedding but unfortunately that had to be cancelled due to her fiancés tragic death a month before the ceremony. I am somewhat glad that we will not be involved in the planning of my sons wedding as it would be very hard for my middle daughter to deal with right now.
Looking forward to your updates on the plans and the future wedding photos!

oooh, congrats! Such a wonderful time in your lives. No advice other than to smile, nod, and never have an opinion of your own.

Congratulations! No advice really - just let them lead and understand they will have their way of wanting things.
