My deck garden is growing like a weed! (groan). The weather is hot and, as usual, for this part of the country, humid as well, but I will take the sunshine. My happy news is that I got word yesterday that I have a full price, cash buyer and signed the purchase agreement for a home building lot I own down in Waverly, GA. The lot was suppose to be for our retirement home but we never made it down there. It has been an albatross around my neck for years. I still had to pay the association dues, water and taxes even though I haven't seen the place for 10 years. So relieved. What's your good news to share?

I have lost 14 lbs in the last two weeks after going WFPB! Love it! And my garden is growing too! I cannot wait to get my own veggies out of the garden.
Congrats on the sell!

My dd is 3 1/2 weeks post spinal Fusion from scoliosis and is doing AMAZING. After some initial struggles in the hospital and first few days at home (not being able to eat triggered her eating disorder). Last night we went out to dinner, she had to bring a pillow, and when we got home, went for a walk around the block.

My nephew and his awesome wife are expecting a baby girl in October. Their first child died at birth (aspirated on meconium as he was being born) last April. We are thrilled. Finally some joy in our family.

It is a beautiful day today, our yard work is basically done and we are hitting some wineries. It's been too long!! My overly anxious and neurotic dog actually laid on the floor of our sunroom for at least 2 minutes. This is HUGE as she normally just circles.

DH has suddenly started cleaning! He thoroughly cleaned out the garage. He is currently working on his building. There's some mess as he is going through everything but I'm hopeful. I don't know what has gotten into him but I like it.

I am officially on SUMMER BREAK! I’ve never wanted a year to be over so badly and am really looking forward to a more normal year next year (but not for a couple of months).

MY DD GOT A JOB!!! Sorry for shouting... but she has been looking for a YEAR. She came home from NYC last year in April when covid got so awful there. She finished up that job remotely in July from here. She's been looking since then but of course we were all in lockdown for so long. It was really hard because a lot of places weren't hiring during covid, and then many places never bothered to reply that they even got her resume, and then even the places where she actually interviewed often didn't get back to her. Common courtesy has gone out the window in terms of interview etiquette. Anyway... she starts this coming Monday, and they've told her to expect to work from home indefinitely. They discovered, as so many employers did, that it saves on a lot of overhead to have people home. Dd is thrilled about that. They have monthly in-person meetings and workdays so she will get to meet them all at some point. I'm happy for her because she's ready to move out. I've really enjoyed having her here for this past year -- it's like a bonus year with my young adult dd -- but she's ready to move.

Found my mother of the bride dress!
Ds22 has earned a great reputation at work. He works PT at a bowling alley while attending college. he basically gophers and cleans but is always looking for something to do and steps in to help others. Staff loves him, customers love him, and the regional manager is impressed. Called him at home to offer a promotion to shift leader.I’m super proud of him.

If all goes well, I will be selling my mobility van on Monday. Not for as much as I had hoped and I will be losing money but I won't have expensive car payments every month for a vehicle that I have no use for now. I had purchased it in December for my husband but after he died in March, I've been trying to sell it. Plus it is a stark reminder sitting in my driveway of the future I no longer will have.

I love this thread! All good news.
My oldest DD finally found a job. It's only at chipotle for right now. She is focusing on her mental health right now and says that she will search for an electrical apprentice job in the spring so for now this is good.
My youngest DD (formerly DS) called me this morning from the psychiatric facility she is in and I could tell just from her voice how much better she is. They finally think they got the right combination of medicine. So after two weeks in the hospital it was really good to hear her talking so positively.
I am on a sabbatical weekend. Jeremy is off camping with his kids. ODD is staying with her boyfriend and youngest DD is safe. So I'm just enjoying doing my thing all weekend. Last night was relaxing. And this morning has gone really good. I even went for a run. And this weekend is good for my mental health. I need something restorative after all the stress I've been under.

I had a CT scan and the Dr called me to tell me that two of my tumors are gone ( they were between 2 - 3 cm in size) and the third one has shrunk from 2.4 cm to 2.1 cm. I'm still on my chemo regiment to try and zap the remaining one.

My oldest daughter finished her freshman year of college on the Dean’s List for both semesters.
This was some rare good news for the year, as she didn’t have a great freshman year otherwise. The university handled the year with COVID really well, IMO, but it did lead to some isolation and anxiety for the students. She didn’t vibe with her roommate, had some issues with a longtime friend who was also there, didn’t get to connect with any professors thanks to remote classes, etc. The year wasn’t what she had hoped it would be. Next year should be better!

jeremysgirl My nephew worked at Chipotle with a "short term while looking for a job in his field" idea and he found he really liked the company. Got promoted to shift manager and ended up staying for nearly three years. I hope your DD finds that they treat her well, too! My good news - it's Saturday and I am home alone with no commitments for the first time in a while. My happy zone.

My bf (whom I live with) asked me about my preferences for engagement rings last night. Getting remarried isn’t a deal breaker for me, but we’ve been together long enough that the thought had crossed my mind. I wasn’t sure how he felt about it but he asked me if I have a preference and he looked at a few photos of rings I like, then asked me to email him screen shots “for future reference”. We have four kids (two each, ages 15,13,12, and 9) and have a busy life. I don’t think he will ask me to marry him for quite awhile, but I have to admit, I loved that we talked about it. He truly is the man of my dreams and I look forward to spending my life with him. This is more “pre-good news” than actual good news... but it made me happy.

I love reading all of this good news. Both of my sons are college grads as of this coming Wed. My oldest graduated 3 weeks ago and my youngest turns in his final project on Wed. Both are going to grad school, but getting their B.A. and B.S. is a huge milestone and I just can't believe that I raised two grads. How? It's an exciting time in this house.

I'm enjoying reading the good news.
My daughter has been waiting on a new nursing job that will allow her to work 9-5 M-F and see her kids after school and weekends. After two weeks of fingers crossed she got the word that she has the job. yay.

I am visiting my youngest and got to hug him for the first time in over 18 months! DD is finishing up her last week at a very stressful practice and will have a break before starting her new position. This momma couldn't be happier right now...all things considered.

Love to hear all of this happy news!! Mine is also a little "pre-", like craftymom101's, but still good. Bought tickets to fly DS & I out to WA in August to visit both DDs (one in WA & one in OR, about 20 minutes apart) on DS's short break between his summer class and start of fall semester. We'll be taking DD#2's cat to her (wish us luck, we've never flown with a cat!) since she had to leave her behind last fall when she made the cross-country move, taking a week to drive out to WA state. DH will stay behind to take care of DS's cat while we're away. It'll be a short trip for me, just an extended weekend, but DS will stay longer to do some hiking and sightseeing with his sisters and brother-in-law. Very much looking forward to visiting with them all and seeing DD#1 and SIL's new house, and DD#2's apartment! And as of today, we are all fully vaccinated - DS had his 2nd shot earlier today! :-)

Almost 1/2 through my 200 films for festival.
Teaching a workshop Tuesday. (While happy to get it behind me, I am terrified).
