My parents came back “home” to Indiana yesterday. They haven’t been back in over a year. My mom was so excited to be back for a visit.

My daughter went back to her job at a sheltered workshop on Tuesday after being away for a year and a few months. She hung around her old parents so much that she started making oofing sounds when she got up off the floor because that's what we do. She's so happy this week.

My youngest daughter graduated high school yesterday. As disappointed as we were with the covid grad it turned out all right. We're at the beginning of the alphabet so we were up first, getting her diploma from the principal. At the end of the day there was a parade through town. Then we had our family to our backyard for supper.

Good news for us, EJ is 3 months old and he has finally figured out that he can sleep past 5:30 am! I’m still getting broken sleep but I’m getting 7 hours of broken sleep instead of 4. It is incredible.
He’s also smiling and giggling up a storm, it is the best sound I have ever heard in my entire life.

padresfan619, the first time my oldest let me sleep almost normally I was so happy that I almost cried. My 2nd baby slept 9 hours straight at 8 weeks. To this day(almost 22) he's still a great sleeper. I joke w/the kids that I love yds best, because he let me sleep.
I miss those newborn days.

My dd is 3 1/2 weeks post spinal Fusion from scoliosis and is doing AMAZING. After some initial struggles in the hospital and first few days at home (not being able to eat triggered her eating disorder). Last night we went out to dinner, she had to bring a pillow, and when we got home, went for a walk around the block. Such great news. A friend of mine had scoliosis as a teen and had a rod put in her back. She was in a body cast for months! (This was in the 70’s). She couldn’t shower for all that time. Sounds like they’ve come along way. Is your dd in a brace?

My deck garden is growing like a weed! (groan). The weather is hot and, as usual, for this part of the country, humid as well, but I will take the sunshine. My happy news is that I got word yesterday that I have a full price, cash buyer and signed the purchase agreement for a home building lot I own down in Waverly, GA. The lot was suppose to be for our retirement home but we never made it down there. It has been an albatross around my neck for years. I still had to pay the association dues, water and taxes even though I haven't seen the place for 10 years. So relieved. What's your good news to share? That is awesome news! Congratulations. My good news is we signed a purchase agreement for a townhouse. It has everything we want, including a nice view. I am having sticker shock over the price, but we are very excited about one level living.

I am officially on SUMMER BREAK! I’ve never wanted a year to be over so badly and am really looking forward to a more normal year next year (but not for a couple of months). You and all the other teachers deserve a medal. And a giant margarita!

If all goes well, I will be selling my mobility van on Monday. Not for as much as I had hoped and I will be losing money but I won't have expensive car payments every month for a vehicle that I have no use for now. I had purchased it in December for my husband but after he died in March, I've been trying to sell it. Plus it is a stark reminder sitting in my driveway of the future I no longer will have. That is good news. I'm happy you don't have to look at it anymore. Giant hugs, dear Pea.

We have just had a bit of garden work done.
We have had a couple of new Crabapple trees put in and some new hedging. The new plants are sweetpea, delphiniums, lupins , lavender and lilac and buddleia . There are a few new clematis too and some young shrubs, and a couple of outdoor tomato plants and rosemary.
We are waiting for a bird bath to arrive (and some ceramic guinea fowl ! ) not sure how it will turn out but I think it could be interesting , and planning to get some hollyhocks later on.
I am really enjoying all the planning and the new look garden.

My youngest DGS is 2 today! We'll bring cupcakes and his present over for a little visit. And my niece starts her cross country bicycle trip today--she is leaving from Astoria for the approximately 4 month long trek. I'm little worried for her (safety-wise), but mostly excited that she realizes one of her dreams.

The weather here is finally nice and I'm going to a party this afternoon. I haven't seen some of these people since before covid hit.

DD closes on her first house this week. This, after signing and putting down earnest money, being downsized and losing her job two days later, and finding a new job before closing, allowing her to keep her financing/house. It's been a bit of a roller coaster ride for her this past month!
We are in the final stages of buying out my parents and sister and owning our beach place outright. We need a third house like we need a hole in our heads, but this is the place where we'll retire. It is a relief to get out a co-ownership with family.
