“Shallow Skinny”fridge bins (swipe to the last photo for the SKU) that I use in my Kallax wine insert."
I think she's a pea here, I know she was on the old board. Cheap me, would probably try to find a different insert, but it wouldn't look as pretty!

I can't wait to have my own scrap area where I do things like that! Next year.

Call me cheap! I'm still trying to get my dad to help me make inserts so I can have a skinny top shelf above my bins. Right now I'm looking at using some thin backer board (not sure if that's the right term) and wooden dowels as legs.
There is just so much wasted space above my stamp pockets.

Cheap me, would probably try to find a different insert, but it wouldn't look as pretty! I used the Better Homes and Gardens inserts from Walmart if you want just a shelf insert. It was a bit cheaper than the Ikea one probably because it's not a wine insert. Here's the similar one to the Ikea insert but it's 4 sections vs 9: BHG shelf insertHere's another that's an X: X insert
You can get those plastic bins from Homegoods or TJ Maxx or Marshalls (they're all the same company) or I've even seen them at Ross (if you have one near you).

Ohhh I like this idea thought I don't actually have that shelving unit, lol. Probably the only scrapper without one.

IKEA has glass shelves that fit in the cubbies. I bought a set (2 shelves per set), but have not installed them yet. They do require making holes for the little brackets. These were smaller than my Kallax and it bothered me. I have a lot of storage in my closet so I turned my four section (3 insert) paper holders (wooden storage) on their sides and took out two of the inserts to get a good shelf to hold my bins and iDesign containers.

I have that BH & G insert in white and one that divides a cube just in half for paper that’s below my printer that sits on top of a 2x4 Expedit. Ikea used to make a 4-section one and I have a couple of those for die bins, very small RGBIV scrap bin (for die cutting) and a few other things.

I saw this on Facebook in an organizing group and promptly ordered. The bins were from Bed, Bath & Beyond on sale plus 20% off and the wine insert actually arrived very quick. Just wish it was the black/brown to match my Kallax but the post I saw had washi tape on the outside so it looked nice in the gal's setup.

I love this idea. Right now each of my Kallax cubes is just stuffed full...it's not bad for paper as that can be filed upright in a container, but for other stuff they are a bit of a mess. I've been contemplating the "wine" holder for some time, now I will have to see if I can find the bins in my area. Thanks for sharing this!

Ohhh I like this idea thought I don't actually have that shelving unit, lol. Probably the only scrapper without one. I have never had one either. Those clear fridge bins are available all over the place but they can get pretty expensive if you have to buy a lot of them. I love the idea of the little egg tray and all the little shelves and labels. It appeals to some my micro-organizing side. I can't really organize like that though. For the most part I don't have enough of any one thing to justify a whole bin for it, or the energy to keep all those micro categories straight. I just gave away my roller date stamps but I only had 2. All the organizing images that push my buttons (like those DreamBoxes) are for people who have a lot more stuff than I have or want to have. Knowing if you're a micro "very specific categories" or macro "throw all the paints in this basket" kind of organizer can help - not everyone should have organizers like this (just like not everyone can make a detailed filing system work). I am a constant re-shuffler and I'm always rearranging things. Matching storage with labels is very appealing but I'm too cheap and prefer to use what I have, so everything is a little mismatched. But these kinds of posts light up the happy-perfect-orderly part of my brain

OH MY GOSH…where have I been? No idea IKEA had shelf options for the Kallax. This is game changer. Heading there tomorrow.
Any idea how much the glass shelves can hold for weight?

So nice and neat and tidy! But I don't have a clue to how I would actually use all those tiny containers. Remember the post a few months back about the tiny wooden boxes from Dollar Tree? I had them in my hot little hands and I still couldn't figure out how I could possible use them for storing anything at all. My storage definitely falls into the "macro" category. On top of my IKEA shelves, I have a row of Sterlite 3 drawer units, and on top of those I have a row of Dollar Tree laundry baskets. They're not cute, but they're so freaking useful. One for ribbons, one for twines, one for glues, etc. Nothing fussy about it. Give me big basket storage any day of the week!

Here’s a video that shows just how to do what you want but with no hardware. Just melamine shelves cut to size at a hardware store or at home. I’d adhere them with something - glue, heavy double sided tape, industrial velcro strips. But it’s so simple. Similarly, I wanted shelves instead of drawers in an Alex unit so used melamine shelving from Home Depot, but even easier since the tracks for drawers are already installed by Ikea, and served as shelf holders. (Exception: our cat liked to climb onto the bottom shelf and knocked things off as he went through, so we had a plexiglass shelf cut by a local glass shop. Most cats won’t walk on clear glass or plexiglass.) Here’s the video: youtu.be/C4NN6PjUMGY

You make such good points: know your organizing style and know what size/type of containers work with your specific supplies. I used to buy really cool containers, figuring I’d find a use for them. No, most were donated. Instead I need to pull everything in a category out of drawers or off of shelves into one clump to consider size and type, not to mention I’ll purge too. Small example - I learned I hate hinged boxes. Opened they take up twice the space. Even if not staying on my desk when the supplies in them are being used, they have to be put somewhere to pull out things. No. Not even small ones. Obviously just personal style since others love them.

I use 2 melamine boards over the storage cubes as my desktop - great price and works great! Plus, it’s easy to replace if it ever gets too messed up.

It’s not what most of the super-organized “experts” would have you do because they tend to be micro organizers, but if macro is the way your mind and space works, it’s the right way to do it for you. Cass from Clutterbug (her HGTV show is called Hot Mess House, but she’s in YT as well) is a macro organizer, I think, so she’s a lot more sympathetic to different ways of approaching organizing. As long as you can find stuff and use it and put it away easily, that’s all that really matters!
