And blankets. Is it awful to take them to a self service laundromat? She is a big shedder.

Not as long as you clean up after yourself!

We had a puking incident a while back and a dead washer. I was shocked at how much money you have to pay for the dryers! I'd air dry at home if you can, especially with the warmer weather. It could have been a sucky laundromat too.

I would but am prepared to clean the machines afterward. My home machines don't take large loads so I do take our comforters/blankets, etc. But my dogs bedding I always do a second empty wash and wipe it down afterwards.
One time I took my dh's pillow (it said it was machine washable), it took me over an hour to clean up the mess I'd made! I was mortified but the attendant was super nice about it and she told me not to worry but it looked like a crime scene with fluff literally EVERYWHERE! Never again, no matter what the tag says!
Good luck getting all of that fur out!!

I used to take my daughters horse blankets and saddle pads to the laundromat. The one I went to had extra large capacity machines designated for extra dirty laundry so I always used those ones.

I used to run dog bedding on an air cycle for 10 minutes. I really helped get rid of a lot of the hair before washing.
