To make my cards with and the only pack I liked was the line I bought last year. Will AC Moore have different lines than M's?

The paper pickins at Michaels is horrible this year! Save for the MME Vintage Christmas pad I got, I didn't find anything else I liked. They had a much better selection last year---Teresa Collins, Heidi Swapp, more than one MME. And Joann's and Hobby Lobby's selection is worse. What a horrible year for Christmas paper.

I had the same problem in a similar store here in Australia - despite carrying quite a wide range of normal scrapbooking supplies, all the Christmas supplies were (without exception) Kaisercraft.

I was at Michaels yesterday and found two stacks that I really liked. This year, my theme is "Christmas In The City" (I want to appreciate all of the things that Houston has to offer during the holidays) and there was a red, white, green and black stack that I swooned over.
I also liked a stack with silver and gold. It will coordinate with my theme very well.
I don't care for vintage, or kraft, or kid themes, or colors like purple, pink or aqua for my main Christmas album. I like basic and bold.

I snuck out of the fridge this weekend (in my defense, I had forgotten my trimmer AND Glue Glider Pro while away at my beach crop and I had to replace them, so while I was there . . . ) and AC Moore had 2 that I liked. They both had a lot of craft, but I love it, so I was happy. I didn't grab both, but I did get sucked into the one called Hot Cocoa. I've already used it, lol.
They did have quite a few Christmas pads, but I don't pay enough attention to know if many of them were repeats.
Might be worth checking out if you have one near you.

The nearest JoAnn's and AC Moore are 40 minutes away. Hmmmm.....do I drag out the paper I've saved from the last few years or make a (mini) road trip.......
I knew I should have stopped yesterday when I drove past!

I thought I was just being picky...I didn't like any Christmas paper at M's this year.

What About Tuesday Morning? When I went in there the other week they had a bunch of AC and Crate Paper, and SC pads. A bunch of them were what I think are the current releases and the discount price.
I looked, but didn't need any paper, but I did get the AC Christmas date stamp for $2.99

Michael's has had a poor selection of everything in general for the last year or so. :/ They seem to be replacing many of the boutique brands with lower-end knockoffs.

Yep, maybe try Tuesday Morning. I saw AC Hot Cocoa there, and several other 12 x 12 and 6 x 6 Christmas pads. BUT they were in the Christmas section and not the craft row! Made no sense to me, but that's where they were.

I agree. I liked the MME pack, but bought a pack called Luxe Christmas last year. I am going to use that and I picked up the Mercury Glass pack to add to it. I still have a ton of BG 25th and Pine from last year, too. Of course none of it goes together.

I feel like this is true about almost any paper from Michael's, seriously I think they still have paper in their selection from when I began scrapbooking 10 years ago. It was always a bit of a comfort thing when I began scrapbooking, if I messed it up or wanted more of that particular paper, I always knew it was still going to be there.

I hardly ever find paper I want at Michaels. I have better luck at Joann's and my LSS.

M's for paper? No thanks. You can't order something you actually like?

Last year I bought 13 packs of silver/blue/gray paper. I hit four different Michaels to get them all ($5 Hoy Buys). Would love to find that deal again with the same kind of paper.

Not a fan of M's or J's paper selection. J's has gotten a LOT worse over the last year. I loved Archiver's (you can still shop them online) and HL used to have a good selection (the closest one is now an hour away so I haven't been in a while). I don't think we have anymore LSS here in NOVA.

I do shop A's online now and then, but I want to touch and see the papers before I buy. My LSS has a lot of paper, but the seem to specialize in cards.

Aww, I'm sorry to hear that. I LOVED the paper selection this year--I stocked up! I got the glitter paper, the vellum (I'm thinking as wrapping cookies for a yearly cookie exchange we do, although we're not doing it this year because the host is having surgery, but definitely for next year!), the marble-ly looking metallic paper and some of the paper with gold and silver accents--I felt like there was a lot of paper that didn't have to be used for Christmas, which is why I liked it so much. Plus, I hit it when it was 40% with an additional 25% off entire purchase coupon so I HAD to use that!

This is why I am always astonished when people say they shop at Ms, Js, or HL for their scrap stuff.
Those big box stores have the exact same thing year after year and never have anything new.
I have literally never seen anything new at HL or J.

I've now made two trips to M's (after seeing Christmas paper packs advertised two weeks in a row), and my M's has nothing I want. Not a single 6x6 or 8.5x11 pack, and the 12x12 packs were ho hum. I didn't find any Christmas paper at all at Joann. At least Hobby Lobby had a variety of Christmas paper packs. There weren't any I had to have, but they had some in the smaller sizes for cards, which the other big box stores near me did not.

I went to a class at a LSS two weeks ago (in Buffalo before it disappeared under all the snow), and the owner said that the christmas products were very different this year... She said not as much and they all came out later than normal... To then point where it wasn't even practical for her to order because by the time the stuff arrived she'd have already held the Christmas card classes... Products would only be in the store for a couple weeks before Christmas, not a lot of time to make stuff with it...

Yeah I've consistently found new paper pads and embellishments/stickers at HL too back when I lived near one. But I usually only go into those stores for general supplies -- adhesive, colored cardstock, twine, etc. None of the J's near me even carries the big Basic Grey lines anymore. I will say that J's recently started stocking more wood veneer and has a lot of Studio Calico stuff now, which surprised me. The big J's, anyway.

Wow I found the opposite this year at Michael's (I'm in Ottawa, Ontario), they actually had LOTS of Christmas paper 12x12 pads. I had to resist buying as I still have so much to use up.

And JoAnn's has virtually nothing this year - very disappointing, but good for my wallet!
