After a few subpar experiences with cleaning services, we found the cleaner we now use through Handy.com (my company offered a discount, etc. it was tempting to try). She is GREAT. She did all our cleanings through my 6 month commitment with Handy and then we moved to working with her directly.
I pay her the same thing per cleaning that I did with Handy - $160 - which is on the high end, but she's worth it. With Handy, I tipped her each time, but I don't anymore because she's getting all of it. It takes her 3 - 3.5 hours on average each cleaning.
Today, she said (without me requesting it) that she was going to clean our blinds for no extra charge. They're gross, the wildfires last year really did a number on them and my efforts at cleaning them have been subpar. I'd actually just booked a mobile blind cleaning service to come in and clean them (it just never dawned on me to ask my cleaner if she could do them).
How much would you tip? (I'm not tipping the full amount I would have paid the service I booked - it was going to be ~$250.)

How long would it take her to clean them? How hard an additional job will that be for her?

I guess if you’re really happy with her and depending on how long it took her, id tip her the difference between her $160 and what you were going to play the blind cleaning service? Maybe $100 even, on top of her usual. You still save a bit money of money in the separate blind cleaning, and you get to show your appreciation too, win for both of you.

How long would it take her to clean them? How hard an additional job will that be for her? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ She did the main floor today and was there maybe 45 extra minutes. She’s going to do the upstairs next time.

I agree with $100. She was there close to an hour extra and presumably will be again when she does the upstairs as well.
I wish my housecleaner did extras! Much easier to have someone you know and have worked with to do these sorts of chores, yes?

What a difference it must be for her to receive all the money you pay, not just a part of it. She wants to show her appreciation. I’m not saying don’t tip her, but having been the housecleaner, I know what it’s like.

Usually when someone says “no charge” I respect that. However I also think giving her an extra $100 would be appropriate. So either way.

I'd give her an extra $100. That is what I was thinking, too.

If I liked her as much as you seem to, I’d be incredibly generous in order to keep her wanting to continue to do a great job for you
