Years ago I had a Polaroid PoGo that printed small photos, 2”x3” with a peel off backing to make stickers.
It’s not compatible with iPhone and I’m looking for recommendations for a stand alone WiFi photo printer please. I see Kodak make one that prints 4”x6” which would be more useable but the comments of photo quality weren’t encouraging.
My desktop printer has photo software but it’s not user friendly and I’ve noticed the ink fades over time, despite being the branded one.
So can anyone help with recommendations/suggestions please? I’m hoping having a dedicated photo printer will be more useful for scrapping.

I’ve had a Canon Selphy for a few years and love it! I print wirelessly from my iPhone, and photo quality is great.

I recently bought a Canon Selphy too. And it allows a variety of sizes on a 4x6 sheet. I think the photo quality is very good. I'm really enjoying the convenience of printing my own photos. I see it is compatible with iPhone. I used Android so it is compatible with that, as well.

I also recently bought a Selphy, though I've only printed 3 or 4 photos so far. Nice, clear prints and you can get a variety of print cartridges, or use the app to print different sizes on one 4x6 sheet.

Epson PictureMate 400. I’ve had it since Dec, and I LOVE it!

I have a Epson PM-400 and a Canon Selphy
The Epson uses 3.5" x 5", 4" x 6" and 5" x 7" photo paper. You buy the ink cartridges separate from the paper ( but sometimes can find a package deal). You can use any brand of paper including Glossy, Luster, or Matte. Collage pictures can be printed from several different apps. It is larger and heavier than the Canon.
The Canon Selphy paper and ink are purchased as a set of color ink & paper. It is 4 x 6 only. Collages and “photo strips” can be printed with Canon’s app. Unlike the Epson, you can not use other brands of photo paper with the Selphy - it is a glossy paper. Also, you tear off the ends of the Selphy photo after printing. This is not necessary with the Epson. It has a very small footprint and is very lightweight.
I use both equally. If I had to choose, I think the Canon colors are richer. It is a dye sublimation printer that takes 4 passes to print, so it’s slower. The Epson, however, is more flexible - more paper choices and more size choices. I never use my larger printer for printing photos. The smaller dedicated photo printers are much better than my every day printer.

The smaller dedicated photo printers are much better than my every day printer. Pretty much word for word for me. My only issue is I found the Selphy would sometimes look "muddy". That's not really the word I am looking for. Cloudy or dull is more what I am looking for. I had to remember to fiddle with my photos in my phone to get what I was looking for. My ODS called me the other night asking what I used for printing photos. I told him the Epson. A friend had seen a couple of photos on his desk at work and asked what I used. The friend has 3 kids and are sending off to get prints. So my little Selphy is traveling to a new home today. I love my Epson and have only used it since I got it. So all is good in the world.

Another vote for Canon Selphy. My first lasted about 5 years before it bit the dust. Upgraded last year to the newest one and even more impressed. Great quality photos.
Since I scrapbook, it has made scrapping easier as I can plan out my layout and print as needed.

I think the Epson PM-400 is the best. It prints true 4x6 and 5x7 and the colors are fantastic.
***FYI - if you had a prior Picturemate model and had trouble with ink clogging the newest PM-400 does not have that problem. I have gone 6 months or longer and it still prints perfectly.

I too like the Selphy that I bought years ago for the single reason that it’s a dye sub printer. I have sworn off inkjet printers for printing photos because I just don’t print them often enough to not have problems with the print heads getting clogged. I’ll go in streaks where I’ll need a bunch of photos at once for something and then won’t print anything for six months or more. Unless you are going to use it consistently every week, then I would avoid getting an inkjet.
I had an original Epson Picturemate (the predecessor to the one that’s available now) years and years ago and I literally got less than 100 prints out of it before chucking it in the bin. The print heads got so clogged from non-use that nothing I could do would make it print right without problems. It was the biggest waste of money ever.
The other consideration is the cost of the prints. I really don’t print all that many photos at home even though I now can, simply because each print is so expensive. If I know I need to print a bunch of photos and I have the time to plan, I’d rather just order them from Costco and pay a third of the cost of printing at home. I mostly only use my Selphy for those last minute school projects that my kid remembers she needs some photos for in the 11th hour before they’re due, or the very occasional scrapbook page.

I have the Selphy and the PictureMate. Both are great. But, I prefer the PictureMate. If I had purchased that first, I would not have bought the Selphy. The Selphy won’t print a true 4x6 and the PictureMate goes up to 5x7.

Thanks very much for all the information, ladies. It looks like it's a toss up between the Selphy and the Epson in your recommendations. I'll check them out thoroughly. Thank you.

I have the Epson PM400, and love it. I once had the Selphy, and didn't care for it as much, and it died and wouldn't work anymore. I went back to the Epson, and love it. The quality is just like a pro lab IMO. All of my scrappy friends IRL also have the Epson, and several also don't like the Selphy.

I gave away my Selphy. It doesn't print true 4 x 6 photos and the edges have little perforations on them. I got the PM-400. Love it. Seems easier to use than the Selphy did, but maybe having a second printer made everything easier the second time. You can download free software from PL and put 6-2 x 2 photos on a 4 x 6. The PM will also do a 3 x 8 photo (and 5 x 7's). Here are two recent sets I've printed:

PictureMate has an app that lets you do the same thing as the PL app.

I've looked at 4 suppliers and it seems the Epson PM is not available in the UK. Amazon will import but I'm not prepared to go down that route and it's more than I wanted to spend too. My 'buy' finger has been hovering over the Selphy CP1300.

That’s what happened to me when I bought the Selphy. I could wait who knows how long for the Picture Mate or get the Selphy immediately.
I’m happy with the Selphy, it works for me.
