They released all Fall and Christmas lines yesterday. Nothing for Halloween. This is 2 years in a row because I don’t count them re-releasing the same line last year.
Disappointed they acquired so many companies but are now releasing so few scrapbook lines. Is this the slow march into closing or moving away from scrapbook lines like we saw with Basic Grey and October Afternoon?
Heidi Swapp is also partnering with a different company (Studio Calico). Is that another bad sign?

Actually, this is the first year without a new Halloween line (so far, still holding out hope). Last year, AC released their annual Pebbles Halloween line, Spoooky. This year, it looks like they got rid of Pebbles (and kept Jen Hadfield as her own brand instead). I always looked forward to the Pebbles Halloween lines so I've been keeping a close eye on the evolution of the situation. Alas, I think we can send them to the AC graveyard. Paige and Jen have their autumn lines (Bungalow Lane and Peaceful Heart). Obed has his brand new travel line. That doesn't leave a lot of room in terms of brands that could be used for a Halloween release this year. ETA: They're restructuring their brands by designers/influencers. RIP Pink Paislee, Pebbles and the rest. AC are not quitting paper lines anytime soon as far as I can tell. They have just turned Paige Evans, Jen Hadfield and Maggie Holmes into their own brands. I don't agree with the restructuring and the loss of design variety across the board but they're clearly refocusing on the big sellers.

As a fellow long time CP fan, I am irritated that there, as of now, is no new Halloween line.
I still have years of layouts to make and like using new paper each year. I also use lines for cards, crafts, and projects.
If designers are struggling to come up with ideas then look at past lines that sold well and alter them a bit.
I think it would be cool if CP and other lines did small and large sides. So same design with A side larger and B side smaller. Sometimes I want a larger print and other times smaller. To have that option with the same design would be nice!

You’re totally new right! I completely forgot about Pebbles last year. I do not care for the focus on designers and losing different brands. Too homogenous and limited. I am still mourning no new Shimelle lines.

I still have a little bit of hope that some day Shimelle will release lines independently. I know it probably won't happen, but I can dream! I'll miss Pink Paislee as well. It seems like they're interested in keeping the designers who all make similar things... where's the variety?

American Crafts is just about the bottom line, swallowing up small businesses and spitting out product, some fine, some subpar. Customer service has suffered too. It took a few rounds of emails with a bored rep for her to explain what happened with a paper I used to get in packs. And she was wrong.
Shortly after they bought Bazzill I wondered what was going on with a sticker on one side that couldn’t be removed. An LSS owner said she argued with reps about it at Creativation one year - all men, ho hum, typical woman upset for no reason since crafters don’t need to use both sides of paper, according to the non-crafters. She stopped carrying it. (They may have stopped doing that?)

It always scares me that American Crafts will go out of business because that is so much of the industry now. I have enough paper to last the rest of my life but part of my hobby is looking at the new lines and shopping. I will miss that- I already miss the end of scrapbook stores and Tuesday Morning.
I never liked Pebbles, it was a little too cutesy, so that isn't much of a loss for me. I loved Crate Paper, especially old time CP- they eventually did everything with that same font and folk art inspired animals on everything. That designer is somewhere else now, isn't she? Jennifer Hatfield does nothing for me- just not my style or color schemes. I used to buy some pieces of it at Tuesday Morning but I never like an entire line. I miss Shimelle- I love, love, loved her last 3 lines. So awesome for scrapping kids. I love everything Vicki Boutin- she is totally my aesthetic. I buy two of every paper and always can't wait to scrap with it. Love it so much. Maggie Holmes is not my aesthetic. It is so pretty but I don't live a flowery, shabby chic kind of life. I've done a couple of pages I love with it, but it just doesn't fit me very much. I like a lot of Amy Tangerine stuff but it is so hard to work with as a collection- it is so all over the place. I do like the bright colors and I have a love for the random animals and other icons. I know people complain about that but I find the odd things kind of delightful. Paige Evans has too many flowers. So many. I love the bright colors but it is really aggressively feminine. I buy some of it because it is very pretty but I find it hard to work with. Heidi Swapp is so hit or miss. She had two collections that I love to scrap with and the rest is so ugh. So far Obed Marshall is okay, and definitely a different feel than their other stuff but I'm not totally convinced yet. Dear Lizzy was okay- I liked the earlier stuff better than the later stuff. I'm not hurt they dropped her, though. She bugs the hell out of me as a person.
Did I miss any other past or present lines they own? I know they own Bazzill too.

I agree artbabe, I like the random animals and such too! I find they're great for zoo days especially. We never had Tuesday Morning here, but I once visited one near my friend's house and that made me happy that we didn't have any locally - I'd be stopping in way too often to check out the crafting aisle. I also agree with what you said about Maggie and Jen. I think they make pretty things... but all of it looks the same to me, especially Maggie's lines. Flowers are pretty but how many do we need?

Thanks for recommending Dare 2B Artzy. I had never heard of them before now. Country Craft Creations also started producing her own line of products as well. She also retails other manufactures paper.

Since I’m a card maker, paper lines in general aren’t as big a part of crafting as for scrappers, though I like the companies you mentioned, and have three identical 6x6 pads by Authentique, and four by another company I’m blanking on. Plus 12x12, but none from AC. Most 8.5x11 colored cardstock is from MFT, PTI, others. There have just been a couple Bazzil colors that I like a lot. I’d also contacted AC when a We R Memory Keepers corner chomper was defective. CS was no help.

I’m still upset that they let Shimelle go. I love her work, her designs, and her classes. I learned how to layer from her and also that most pages look better after I finish them off with confetti afterwards.

I confess I’m not a big fan of most of the AC lines. I do like Pebbles, I’m sorry they seem to be discontinuing that line. I wonder if the lack of Halloween lines has more to do with the holiday being less popular? Especially last year in the middle of Covid, trick or treating was canceled in lots of places. Maybe last year’s Halloween collection didn’t sell well? Admittedly, now that my boys are older, I don’t scrap a lot of Halloween. Christmas, School, Travel and seasonal collections like Fall and Summer might be bigger sellers?

I confess I’m not a big fan of most of the AC lines... Ditto. Paper collections from AC brands aren't my style (ie vintage, floral, pastel, stereotypically feminine, overly themed, odd icons, etc.), clear stamp sets are cheap acrylic, & many embellishments aren't labeled as acid free or archival quality &/or are advertised as stickers but don't stick! The only AC product I've purchased in the last ~1.5 years is Bazzill cardstock packs in neutral colors (at TM) & by the sheet (during 10/$2 sales at Joann). I looks like Echo Park has a couple of Halloween collections on their site. See links to & discussion of the upcoming Halloween, fall, & Christmas collections on the "NEW" Echo Park & Carta Bella - July & August releases thread.

It’s also more challenging to insert pink as a major element, and AC HAS to have their pink! 🤮 I’m not really a fan of AC’s designs or products either.

American Crafts ruined Crate Paper for me. They're the Walmart of crafting; they've swallowed up all the independent artists and churn out homogenous product in their name.
I haven't seen anything that truly interests or inspires me in a long time.
I still have a few sheets of Crate Paper (so thick and textured and gorgeously colored), Sassafras Lass, Basic Grey and Pink Paislee that I think I keep solely to look at.

Are they skipping Halloween for the same reason Hobby Lobby isn’t doing Halloween now? Too many ghosts and goblins and not enough Jesus?

This thread prompted me to start an AC graveyard discussion because we need to keep some kind of record of all the brands AC is acquiring and then putting 6 feet under. I'll try to update that discussion with the acquisition + kill dates for each brand.
It'd be really ironic if AC do not release a Halloween line this year considering the amount of ghosts they've created in-house the past 18 months.

Solely graveyard or also companies they’ve acquired and do promote, so you know customer service is not with the original company, aka likely poorer. Like WRMK 5-6 years ago. And Bazzill. Your thread, your call.
