i need ideas. have 2 boys age 7 and 9, plus DH stockings to fill. besides candy, i always do some random weird toys/things- last year there were underpants suckers, zombie mints, screaming monkeys, stress balls in weird forms, a tin of "emergency" googly eyes. the things i'm finding this year are $6-$7 each which adds up pretty quickly with 2-3 each to buy, i'd rather spend $4-5 max. ideas?

I hit the dollar spot at Target for a lot of things -
I have only seen/gotten at the dollar spot so far this year Chapstick (rudolph and clarice themed) and cute themed bandaids. That may sound odd to some but my kids are, well, kids and they love having a theme bandaid rather than the typical boring kind. They seem to get paper cuts a lot so I guess we use them a lot in general.
I typically get the Christmas themed playing cards. DD used to collect them. Now I think it's just nice to have a fresh set of cards to play with. Dice are also a good thing and I have gotten in the past. I have a list of games that are stocking sized but they are mostly card or dice related, some of them were letter tiles. Not sure if any of those are of interest. Tenzi I hear is a hot game this year, it is a tube of dice.
keychain flashlight (one or the other or an actual flashlight that is also a key chain).
headlamp flashight
Fingerstache tatoos - go on your finger, little mustaches, cute
Do you have a Five Below store in your area? I haven't been a long time but I know everything there is, well, below $5 so there's lots of options there I'm sure.

we're "getting" a five below, but it's not open yet. the bandaids and lego erasers are things they'd like, they're getting the lego advent calender so that will take care of minifigs. i've crawled thinkgeek and archie mcfee, lots of fun things but they add up fast- i really want the "hand" finger puppets, they look like little hands at the tip of each finger. just weird and something they'd think was funny, but $6 each just seems dumb for something like that, that they will play with 1-2 days and then lose.

Lip balm (they have DQ Blizzrd & Reese's Cup flavored ones at Dollar Tree)
Lego minifigures & small Lego kits (Walgreen's has good prices on these right now)
fun socks
funny rubber ducks (usually a buck or two at Walmart)
magazines
McDonald's (or other fast food) gift certificates. I'm pretty sure you can still buy McDonald's Bucks, in five dollar books, with five - $1 coupons per book.
Do your boys still like stickers? $ Tree has a lot there.
Temporary tattoos
Individual cans of Play-Doh. I just bought some at Walmart for 88 cents each.

I have a stocking to fill for my boyfriend and the dog. Right now the boyfriend has cologne (expensive), deodorant, a screw driver, gold chocolate coins, hair products, gift cards to Starbucks and Bagel place. I put some of the nicer gifts in the stocking and won't buy trinkets for the sake of filling it up. I'd rather fill it with things he needs or wants. I do throw some candy, an orange in at the end. The dog has nothing. I need to get started on that. I love stockings!

Well my kids are grown and only one living with us still but he is getting drum sticks, sugarfine candy, lottery tickets, Jack Black facial wash and shaving cream, not sure what else. I have also done fun things like rubiks cube, clown nose, bacon band-aids, etc.
DH will also get lottery tickets, Jack Black Stuff, sugarfine candy and a survival thingy (Clip with parachute cord wrapped around it..for when he hunts in case of emergencies). Not sure what else.
I used to also do gift cards for ds when he was younger, hmm maybe I need do a few since it's been awhile.

I'm sticking stylus pens, gum, Bendaroos, clay, paintbrushes, fun themed socks, cologne, sparklers, earbuds, SD card and other snacks that are their favorite. They're teens so I'm just putting stuff I know they'll actually use. I'll be watching this thread for fun ideas, too!

The must haves in our stockings are M&M, and a box of Barnum Animal crackers. Other than that, we get gum, batteries, deodorant, new shower pouf, anti-bacterial gel (those 5 for 5 at BBW), socks, etc.

I bought some fuzzy socks, regular socks with princesses and My Little Pony on them,Frozen lip balms with a tin for DD. She will get other stuff too, like a dated Hallmark ornament, other small stuff like candy, and a stuffed animal to peek out the top. I usually get DH iTunes gift cards, maybe a cd if I know of one he'll like, good candy, boring stuff like underwear, lol. For me I put in a different Hallmark dated ornament, maybe a cd if there's one I want, iTunes gift cards, good candy, and whatever else I can find. For our dogs, they each get their own pack of junky dog treats that they usually don't get and sometimes a new Nylabone.

Lego mini figs are still popular with my 11 year old but he is also into Minecraft so he is getting a few of the mystery keychain things. He is also getting a few Minecraft books that may land in his stocking as they are small. He loves Hershey santas and requested those so a pack of those will land in his sock as well.
I would love to come up with a few more ideas for him as well.
i need some ideas for DH as well as I am at a loss this year.

Do you have a hobby lobby near you?
they some lots of little science things for under $5. they have the connector that you need to make 2 bottles and some water into a tornado. they had one of those little trees you put the goo on it and "grows" crystals. there were lots of other things but those are the 2 I looked at and picked up. For $6 they have a little container that is a playground for ladybugs. my DD (15) wants that. but the one they had, had been opened, So I am hoping to find it at another store.

Books, socks, lounge pants, t-shirts, favorite snacks (bonus points if they take up a lot of room in the stocking...DS [HASH]1 is getting a boxed mini panettone....that should work well for me in that regard....small gift cards to local places they like, such as Moe's, Dunkin', the sandwich shop, etc., and some sort of messy and/or gross novelty toy like slime or ooze or silly putty.

I always check out Cracker Barrel and Hobby Lobby near the checkouts for unusual stocking stuffers. This weekend I found a marble set with instructions for $2-3. DS mentioned he wanted to learn how to play marbles. Cracker Barrel always has fun/nostalgic candy.
