Why? I was looking for pet paper and I noticed that fish skeletons are in about every cat collection. Why? When has this every represented cats? Somebody came up with that idea a long time ago and now you can't do cat paper without it. It has nothing to do with my cats.
I hate apples for school. I'm a teacher. At no time in my career have I associated it with apples. Isn't that trope 100 years old? Why do we keep using it?
And diaper pins. I think I was the last generation that had diapers with pins and I'm 55. Why is this still used?
And neckties. What percentage of the male population wears neckties?
Sometimes I think scrapbook designers are living in the wrong century.
What other tired ideas are still used in scrapbooking?

Best Day Ever! I hate it. There will most likely only be one Best Day Ever in a lifetime. No need to put it in every single collection, if any!

As a teacher, I'd get a ton of apples. Some real. Most ornaments, frames, storage items etc. Unless I knew I would use it, it went in the Goodwill box at the end of the year. So many mugs. I'll bet I got at least ten a year for 30 years. I don't drink coffee and kind of despise Starbucks. I never got my kids' teachers anything but a gift certificate and some type of food/drink I knew they loved.
My cat would go nuts when he smelled fish. More than any other type of meat, so I will forgive that old icon.
I am guessing the designers are going more for nostalgia than current icons.

I like the fish on cat paper. My cats eat only fish in their food, so it’s perfect.
When I was working on school albums, I hated all the A+, best student, best day ever stuff.

I agree with the weird use of apples and so-called traditional school colours in school kits. I didn't even know there was such a thing as "traditional school colours" until someone here mentioned that they liked how my school page didn't use traditional school colours. I haven't noticed an abundance of neck ties in digital kits, but soooooo many masculine / Father's Day kits have moustaches in them. The only time I'd use a moustache on a page is if I was doing a page about Movember. artbabe I just had a quick look at the cat kits in some of my favourite digi scrap stores, and I am happy to report that I didn't find a single fish skeleton!

Best Day Ever! I hate it. There will most likely only be one Best Day Ever in a lifetime. No need to put it in every single collection, if any! I used to, but now I use it sarcastically on a layout. I dislike "today". I throw it away if I come across one while scrapping!

Other icons I’m tired of Travel collections - Eiffel towers & planes. Could we have something for musuems & cities in general? Outdoors collections- tents & RVS. Lots of people do things outdoors like hiking, visiting national parks etc that don’t involve camping Lake- fish. Not everyone goes to the lake to fish.

Travel collections - Eiffel towers & planes. Could we have something for musuems & cities in general? Yes please! I rarely scrap the actual plane trip part of my holidays as I often have way more stories than I can fit into an album, and by comparison the plane trip part is long and boring.

They could do kayaks, jet skis, wake boarding, skiing, tubing, floating on lazy river or lake, jumping off the dock into the water, those inflatable gyms/obstacle courses that lots of lakes have, boating.

As far as the diaper pins, they are used for baby shower games. So I can see why that paper is still around. And cloth diapers have made a come back and some still use pins. Others use a new snap system along with covers.

Another tired (IMHO) lame travel icon is the hot air balloon - why do designers think we all go on vacation to ride in hot air balloons??? And why does all the luggage have to look vintage?

I was going to say hot air balloons too. I wonder why everyone ran with that concept? I also don't need a zillion bicycles with flowers in the basket. A regular bicycle would be swell. And I've said it before, but not every mug, cup, takeout cup, etc. needs some sort of coffee reference. Leave it plain so the rest of us can pretend it's tea, chai, hot chocolate or anything else.

The old-old fashioned one room school building with a bell tower.
Chalkboards for school. Really? During virtual school, did everyone get sent home with a chalkboard?!
Girls= unicorns, pink, sparkles Boys= skateboards, videogames, grunge Da Fuq. Have the designers learned nothing in the past forty years or so about putting people in rigid gendered boxes?!
All dads wear neckties, have beards or mustaches, grill and golf during their every off work moment.
Mom wears dresses and pearls while doing housechores and baking.
Grandma & grandpa are gray haired, old people. Barely any life to them.
There have been no technological advances in music since the cassette tape in the 80s. You may have records or cassettes icons. That is all.

We have a hot air balloon festival in town. I use those suckers up on those pages. One night it was getting windy during the balloon glow and they were quickly taking down the balloons out of safety. I just happened to be at the base of one as it came tumbling down my way. As luck would have it, it had a rat on the side that I was video taping as it fell on my head. That being said, I have done a ton of activities on my vacations, but we've never been in a hot air balloon. Closest I have been was a parade in the RIO years ago in Las Vegas.
