I’ve never really like metal embellies. I have a drawer full in my IKEA Helmer unit-brads,those little rectangle words,a few eyelets, some watch parts and safety pins. And paper clips. To purge or not- I’m a bit torn…..

I'm not a fan of metal in my albums, but...
For anything I'm unsure whether to purge or not, I do a soft purge.
Box it all up, and write the date on the outside corner.
Put it in a place outside of your scrapping area.
How many times do you look for the metal embellishments? If you find yourself going for them, keep.
If not, in a set number of months, or a year, purge for good.

Purge. You already said you don’t like. Don’t keep them. You won’t want to use them and they won’t inspire you.

If you don’t like or intend to use the metal embellishments, then consider giving or donating them to someone(s) who’ll actually use & enjoy them. Not only will you be emptying the drawer to gain more storage space for supplies you do like & will use, but you’ll also be encouraging others’ creativity!

Would you like them if they were altered? I'd check out a few YouTube videos and see if anything strikes your fancy and donate if it doesn't.

I have a lot of those types of things. My problem is I like them and don't want to use them, because I like them. I have the same problem with some of my papers.

You've already stated you don't like them, so I vote purge. Use that space for thing you love!

I'm with don. I have them and keep saving them for the right layout, so I end up never using them. If it's not your thing, I agree that you should purge at least some of them...maybe just pick your favourites and do the soft purge suggested by LavenderLayoutLady for the rest.

I purged about 90% of my metal embellishments and kept some plain brads & eyelets in my most used colors which I do use every great once in awhile.

I am with everyone else that says to purge them.
I felt the exact same way about all of my metal embellishments especially all of those heavy Making Memories ones, I had so many of them of all the different styles and I can honestly say that I probably only used one of them. I gave them to a friend who is into mixed media and I love the fact that something that I could never use and didn't really love she gets inspiration from. I am fairly certain that I only have paper clips and flair left in terms of metal embellishments. I do have a couple of containers of eyelets and brads but I use them on tags so that is how I have managed to keep them around.

I love Tim Holtz metal embellishments and some old Architexture ones (escutcheons, hinges, peepholes). I've purged any lightweight, bright colored ones from the Making Memories days.

I'm another vote for purge. If I was undecided I'd keep a few out and visible on my desk and if I find I still haven't used any of them in the next half a dozen or so pages I'd know it was time to move them on.

I would want some more MM metal hearts.
When I started scrapping, I put a heart on every LO I did of my children. I used up my pack of elongated hearts up, and never did find any more. Those hearts are likely the only pack of embellishments that I ever did finish!

If you don't like them, purge.
That reminds me, though, that I have a whole bunch of metal embellishments that I don't use. I think I'll dig them out and see if there are a few I can use on my next pages. I think all of that stuff ends up being packed up and when it is out of sight, out of mind.
Someone mentioned Architecture. I loved that stuff. I think I got rid of most of it in my last purge but I'll see if I have any of that left somewhere, too.

I’d donate them since you don’t use them, but if any really make you smile, putting just those in a small jar or two to display could be fun. You can enjoy seeing them, and after a while they may lose their oomph and could be donated too - especially if you can find an organization you’d like to support.
When something has been tucked away and is hard for me to let go of - for crafting or especially sentimental items - if I put it where I see it every single day, sometimes after a while it loses its charge. Part of the emotional attachment comes from suddenly seeing it after a long time.
(For anyone in MD or VA our donated stuff goes to life4animals.org in Rockville, MD, though we’re in NoVA, to support an organization that helps animals that were hoarded or in natural disasters. Dangerous shop though since it’s set up so nicely, there are temptations. I’ve learned not to go in.)
