Unfortunately, I seem to have a knack for getting nails in the tires of my car. I'm thankful that, to date, I've always had help in getting my tires changed. I am physically capable of changing my tire, but I'm 62 and feel very vulnerable doing it myself.
It's time for me to see about getting some type of road side assistance to help me with car emergencies. If you have roadside assistance who do you have it with? How much is it? Have you used it and been happy with the service?
I'm thinking of AAA but wonder if there are other companies out there I should consider?
UPDATE: Thanks for all your input. I'm going to call A T & T, my insurance company and AAA to compare rates.

I have been a member of AAA for 15 years and pay my annual membership without hesitantation. I have locked my keys in my car more times than I care to admit and have had them tow a vehicle several times die to breakdowns. I have always been pleased with the customer service.

I got AAA for my MIL, who also has an unerring ability to find nails in the road. Best money ever spent. For myself, I have Progressive's roadside assistance. I've only needed it once but it was so easy to use, I didn't even have to call anyone (though you can). I was able to do it all via chat/text.

I’ve been a AAA member since I turned 16. Never used another service. It’s saved my ass several times. And thankfully I always have had the Gold membership, it towes you up to 150 miles. I’ve needed that twice!

I've been a AAA member since I got my license in 1992. No hesitation at all. When we got married, I added DH to my account.
They've towed our rock crawler home, let my husband into his car, towed our flipped corvette home, jumped my car a few times. It's been awesome. My parents needed a tow to my house, I called them and to their rescue they came.

We’ve always just had it through our car insurance. It costs very little to add it on to the premium and we can just contact them through our insurance app. No problems.

We have Progressive Auto Insurance and the roadside assistance is very inexpensive. Fortunately we haven’t used it.

I’m not sure about other insurance companies, but USAA offers roadside assistance for $2 per month per car. Very reasonable. Excellent service the only time we needed them.

Sometimes I go on a road trip. Have you ever needed to use it while away from home? What insurance company are you with? I'm with Allstate.

I have had AAA since I was in high school many, many years ago. I have had to use them for dead batteries, replacing batteries, once for towing, and twice for changing a tire. I always found the stations connected to AAA to be professional and courteous. I would think they would lose their AAA connections if they were rude to any customer.

We have it through State Farm which is our insurance company. We've used it a handful of times

I have used AAA in the past. They are good. But I also have roadside assistance through my car insurance which I have never used, and through Kia for 6 years when you buy a new car from them. They will come out and bring gas, do a jump start, or tow to the nearest Kia dealership. I've had to use them once when a battery died.

I had State Farm and had to use it on an out of town trip. I wasn’t too far from home but it was in the middle of nowhere and they got someone out pretty quick. For both insurances we got cards with an 800 number to call. It goes to a call center and they find someone local to help. We’ve probably used it 3-4 times over the last 15 years or so.

We have roadside assistance included as part of our Geico policy. They have been great when needed.

You can’t beat the price and when DH had TWO flat tires at 9pm on a rainy Monday night on some Belgian farm road with no road signs in sight, they not only found a tow truck (from their English speaking office in London!) but they found DH as well. After hours service is unheard of here. We are USAA members for life.

I’ve had AAA for, I am guessing, 25 or so years. I haven’t used them a lot but when I have it has been a good experience and a sigh of relief to have it.
I can also change a tire, however the last time that I was going to do it myself I ended up calling AAA anyway. When they use the pneumatic lug wrench sometimes they are too tight for me to loosen.
In my opinion it is cheap and useful. I waste more than the annual cost every month on nonsense.

We also have AAA for us and my 2 kids. My dad gets stuck frequently on her bf’s parents driveway so we’ve definitely gotten our money’s worth.

AAA since 1976! Several years ago we locked our keys in the car with it running while up at Lake Tahoe. We were at Emerald Bay and a AAA truck was rescuing us within 20 minutes!!

We have it through our insurance Geico. I’ve had to use it twice recently for flat tires and I did everything through the App on my phone - super easy and convenient

AAA since 1976! Several years ago we locked our keys in the car with it running while up at Lake Tahoe. We were at Emerald Bay and a AAA truck was rescuing us within 20 minutes!! On our honeymoon we were in South Lake Tahoe making one quick last stop for pine cones and souvenirs on our way to the airport. Someone, whose name I shall not mention, locked our keys in the car. So thankful for the locksmith who came to our aid quickly…and for the extra time. Those pine cones are the centerpiece on our dining table every Christmas, even 25 years later.

We have had AAA for years ( as did my Dad). We get a discount through Sprint- saves us about $40 a year . We also have roadside assistance through Subaru.
Keep in mind AAA only allows 4 service calls per year

I have to admit it was mostly my fault. There was a lot of construction going on right by the Emerald Bay overlook so it was super noisy. We parked and DH turned to get his camera out of the console, I hopped out with my cell phone and automatically locked the doors. He didn't realize the car was still running and closed his door. When we realized what we had done, we called AAA. It was a miracle we had reception! It wasn't until AAA showed up and opened the door that we realized it was running. It actually made it easier for him to unlock the door. With my Highlander I have a fob so it's virtually impossible to lock the door with the fob in the car.

We have AMA here in Canada which I think is like your AAA. We also have rewards partners which gives us discounts at restaurants, entrance to the Zoo, discount on items delivered from Staples etc

He locked the key in the car and ran out of gas so.many.times in his 20s. Thank goodness for modern technology! We have a Highlander too, and you speak the truth. When the vehicle was new we were paranoid about losing a car key/fob on vacation; so we packed one in our luggage, which practically filled the back of the vehicle, and then mounted his bike to the back. Man, the confusion when we stopped somewhere and couldn’t lock the car!

Man, the confusion when we stopped somewhere and couldn’t lock the car! Oh, this is us!! When it was pretty new, DH would put the extra fob in the car without me knowing and I'd be going crazy trying to lock it.
