I am leaving Saturday for an eight-day road trip and I would like to have some snacks in the car for us to munch on while we drive. I plan on making chocolate chip cookies and lemon bars (my two favorite), but I’m looking for a few more shelf-stable snacks to make Friday before we take off. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know there are recipes for protein balls, and possibly homemade granola or granola bars? Thanks!

My super quick road trip snack is to dump 3 flavors of Goldfish into a gallon ziplock. it's a nice easy treat to snack on without the mess.

We always bring a small cooler bag on road trips so I'll bring sliced summer sausage, cheese and crackers plus veggies/dip and/or fruit and sometimes sandwiches for the 1st lunch meal of the trip.

Today keep in mind, depending which way you are headed, you may need a larger cooler to keep anything with chocolate cold. It will melt in a closed car while you make a meal stop with high temps.
My family always traveled with an ice chest, therefore you can carry more perishables, including cold cuts for sandwiches and drinks/water. Hotels have ice machines to replenish, even some restaurants will fill a container for you.

But we do plan on bringing a cooler with us for cold drinks and sandwich stuff.

We always bring a cooler and have veggies to crunch on and cheeses. We trying to avoid too many sweet and salty snacks. Don't get me wrong they are there but we also make sure to have plenty of other options.

My version of Chex mix is rice, corn and wheat chex with a bag of fruit bits, a package of small pretzels and a can of mixed nuts. Keeps for a long time, not temperature sensitive and relatively healthy.

We always take trail mix on road trips. Peanuts, raisins, M&Ms. Satisfies the urge for a sweet or salty snack.

We like to take things like a homemade sweet & salty Chex Mix, a bag of Cheddar Chex Mix, Twizzlers, gummy worms or jerky. I don't do a lot of chocolate, maybe Trail Mix because M&Ms are usually ok in the heat. I've been trying to eat better so I'll have to adjust what I pack for myself on our trip next month.

I am not much of in the car snacker.
I am more inclined to go through a drive thru for a strawberry milkshake, and if I am hungry an order of fries.
I usually bring muffins with me, because that is what I usually have for breakfast when I am travelling. Plus, my Grandpa always told me to have something to eat and water in the car when traveling, in case of detours, traffic stopped, etc...

We love grapes, cheese cubes, beef jerky, twizzlers and popcorn when we travel.
