What a waste of a good pie!

That is silly. Just as silly as salted caramel bacon banana chocolate pretzel vanilla cinnamon pumpkin fudge. (Okay, I may have exaggerated that a bit ...)

I think some people might find it tasty, but it just seems gross to me. If presented with a slice, I might take a bite, but I doubt I could finish a whole piece.

Perhaps I am swayed by a dislike of fruit pies, that doesn't look like anything that I would want to try.

blech. why would you want to ruin a perfectly good pie like that?
It reminds me of that pin that keeps going around of the pumpkin pound cake with the cute pumpkin shapes baked into the center. The method they have you use ends up with the center of the cake being baked twice. gross. Those cute little pumpkins must be so dry! I can't imagine what 30 minutes at 350 degrees does with an already prepared pie. That's evil.

I would try a cherry pie inside a chocolate cake--not a lot different than a black forest cake.

I think the texture would be all wrong. The pie crust would probably be gummy. I doubt the cake really would bake quite right.
I don't think I'd like it.

Well may with something other than fruit pie. I'd be intrigued by a shoo fly put in a ginger cake. I dunno

I would try it. Probably would be better to have an apple pie inside vanilla cake. Gooey inside cakes stuff = yum.

No. What a terrible waste of a pie.
It doesn't look in the least bit appealing to me.
I mean, I can look at a seafood dish and while I don't want to eat it, I can appreciate that it looks very nice. But this? Blech. it looks awful to me.

Pie and cake are two separate food items. I feel the same way about turkey, duck and chicken. Some foods need never be cooked together.

Well I am thinking that the crust and/or pie has been pre-baked before it is put in the cake pan to bake with the cake; but yes, most likely you will not have a flaky crust.

I don't really like pie but love cake. I hate blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. So those pies are out. Apple pie in a cinnamon cake? Maybe. Chocolate with any of that? No thanks!
