Personally I am glad it wasn’t brought up before or during the trial. The trial brought out what a disgusting individual Cosby is. It gave voice to victims. It was proven that he is guilty as charged. He can’t hide behind that. He is guilty. He just doesn’t have to serve the time based on a technicality. He is just as disgusting as ever.

Well that's beyond disappointing. I wonder what Howard University thinks of having a new dean who supports rapists? #ByePhylicia is trending on Twitter It is stunning to me that anyone in his circle is playing this as vindication. He did what he did and everyone knows it.

That would have never happened if he were a "regular" person instead of a celebrity. So wrong! Wealthy, celebrity is an added "bonus".

Why wasn't this brought up during the trial??? It was brought up during the trial. If it hadn’t been brought up during the trial, it would not have been preserved for appeal. The trial judge even questioned the former prosecutor who made the promises. You don’t get to just bring up random, new issues in an appeal. Everything that is argued about in the appeal was argued about during the trial.

Bruce Castor - picked by former as his impeachment atty.... Promised Bill no prosecution. "Only the best!!!" "On Feb. 17, 2005, I was sitting at my desk at the Philadelphia Daily News wrapping up my work for the day when I got a fax from the office of Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr. It was no ordinary press blast. Instead, Castor was announcing that he would not be prosecuting Bill Cosby for drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand. The fax was timestamped 5:45 p.m.—I still have it—and it was shocking for a number of reasons. Nearly a dozen other women had come forward already—the number would swell in the years to come—saying Cosby had done the same or similar things to them, which briefly led Constand’s attorneys to hope Castor was going to actually prosecute the disgraced comedian after all. Not only that, Castor wrote it himself and faxed it to the press himself—a first the technically-challenged DA later testified about in a court of law. Constand and her attorneys say he never even bothered to let them know of his decision beforehand. It also came as a shock to his own detectives, who just that morning had come up with a list of follow-up interviews they wanted to do on the case. But in no way, shape, or form was there any inkling this was anything but a press release. Because, why would it be anything other than what it clearly was? That would come later, when Castor argued it was also a promise not to prosecute the since-disgraced comedian in exchange for his testimony in a civil case. The bizarro move was quintessential Bruce Castor, and it helped make Bill Cosby a free man on Wednesday." www.thedailybeast.com/bill-cosby-walks-free-because-of-power-hungry-prosecutor-bruce-castor

Per IG, Phylicia Rashad is backing him up. "This is Us" should dump her. I sure don't want to watch her again. Actors have lost their jobs over far less than defending a serial rapist. Meryl Streep is still making movies (standing ovation for Roman Polanski), Dianne Keaton has stood up for Woody Allen (granted he's not been charged, but still). IDK how I feel about firing Phylicia if these other women get to continue to work, doesn't seem fair.

Meryl Streep is still making movies (standing ovation for Roman Polanski) Way more than Streep.... "But, in truth, for many British and US actors, working with Polanski never lost its cachet, and arguably had even more once he became excluded from the US mainstream. Sigourney Weaver, Harrison Ford, Johnny Depp, Ewan McGregor, Pierce Brosnan, Kate Winslet and many more have appeared in Polanski movies in the decades since his conviction, and questions about why they were working with a convicted child rapist were seen as tacky, proof of a rigid mind more focused on gossip than art.... I then contact 25 actors who have worked with Polanski since his arrest, including Sigourney Weaver, Ben Kingsley, Christoph Waltz, Kate Winslet, Kim Cattrall, Pierce Brosnan and Jodie Foster... Adrien Brody, who won an Oscar for The Pianist, was “unable to participate due to schedule”. Kingsley, who has worked with Polanski multiple times, would “need to pass”.... I then contact the film-makers who signed the 2009 petition demanding Polanski’s release, including David Lynch, Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese. Again, some ignore me, a couple will talk off the record, some are too busy to talk at all. Alexander Payne is currently “focused on his new baby”. Tilda Swinton “would like to graciously pass on being interviewed”.... The year after he [Polanski] fled the US he gave an interview to Martin Amis, in which he declared: “Judges want to fuck young girls. Juries want to fuck young girls – everyone wants to fuck young." girls!” www.theguardian.com/film/2018/jan/30/hollywood-reverence-child-rapist-roman-polanski-convicted-40-years-on-run

So all these other actors get a pass? I'm not defending BC in any way, just..this act of targeting her. I did read that Kate Winslet has backed off and has now denounced both Roman and Woody, thank goodness because I really like her in everything she does.

so...14 people liked the comment that Phylicia should be canned from This is Us. I'd love to hear your opinions on my above posts. This is not a challenge I'm really curious to see what you all think.
Do you all REALLY think she should be fired for her Tweet? If so, why not the others? What's different about this one? I mean, I get that the memes are catchy with the whole "Bye Felicia" thing but is that really all we got?

I'm hopeful that we have move forward as a society in believing sexual assault victims and holding their perpetrators accountable. I have never watched a Polanski movie as I read the testimony of his victim and was disgusted that he was still employed in Hollywood (this was after the fact as I was too young at the time - probably when was up for his academy award). I was hugely disappointed with the actors who chose to give him a standing ovation. But if we use our past acceptance of bad behavior to justify doing nothing in the future , how do we ever move forward? Generic we/our of course. People have been clueless about a host of issues in the past and supported people they really shouldn't have - when we know better we do better.

But the thing with these examples are these people now know how bad Polanski and Woody are and they still choose to support him publicly. That's why I pointed out Kate Winslet being an exception as someone who supported them and then recanted her support after the full story came out. It bothers me that she's a rare exception No one is boycotting Meryl or these others that I know of. Thanks for your thoughts on this.

There is also an obscure TV show called Cosby. The Cosby Show, to my knowledge, will never see the light of day again.... He didn't just screw up tons of women's lives, he also screwed his former castmates from any residuals moving forward.

I just heard this AM he's writing standup again and intends to perform.
I think it's important to remember his conviction was overturned on a technicality (promised immunity), not because he was actually innocent.
