I've looked at the M's site (where I bought them like 18 years ago) and also looked at pictures online of craft rooms. It seems like 3 deep is the highest they are stacked. Anyone have 4 stacked up? Would that be too much for them, presuming they were full? I'd like to stack them 4 deep, but perhaps that is unwise. Thoughts? Update: Thanks everyone for the advice! I don't have any little children around, so no worries there. I did stack them 4 high and they seem okay. They are two stacks of 4, on one side butted up against the wall, and a shelving unit on the other side, so like 950nancy said, supported on either side. I am also going to pick up some large binder clips and clip them at a few intervals (the two stacks together) for more support. I have downsized into a different, smaller room, which I believe will be better in the long run but for now feels strange and a bit cramped. Hence needing to stack my cubes differently.

I think it would be ok if you anchored them to the wall.

Be careful of the weight I had some of the cubes with drawers and the face of the drawers have cracked.

I have mine stacked 4 high, and have had them this high for at least two years. I don't have them anchored (basement wall), and they seem fine. Paper is in all but one cube, one cube is a unit of 3 drawers which store inkpads.
I guess I never really thought about the weight of them, glad they've held up!

I would be more concerned about stacking 4 high if I had kids in the household. If you do be sure to anchor them, even if it is only 3 high.

The one caveat I would say to this for kmage is that I know the cubes they sell at Michael's now are a different brand, so if you've had them for over 2 years, they're different from what they sell now. The Simply Tidy brand cubes and furniture has gotten really mixed reviews on the Michael's website, with a lot of customers saying that it's not as sturdy as the old Recollections cubes, so just keep that in mind.

Mine are the old school ones, so hopefully sturdier...I was looking last night and I think I can reconfigure them so the heavier ones are toward the bottom and the ones with drawers are on top! Thanks all!

I have 9 stacked in three rows: the first row is 4 high, the middle is 3 high, and the end is two high. Some of the ones I have are the original JetMax cubes which, in my opinion, were more sturdy and better made than the Recollections brand (which I have also), or any of the more recent brands. I have no small children at home so I'm not worried about them falling over - and I haven't noticed any cracking or any other damage; but since I've seen this thread, I will probably be keeping a closer eye on it in the future.

I have 6 of the original (larger/sturdier) one from I think Crop'n'Store (??) Stacked 2 high. Then I have 9 of the cubes from Ms stacked on top of those.

Three high. Two if there are heavy things like punches in them and I put additional loose stuff on top.

It’s been years since I had them, but I had mine stacked 6 high, with no issues. Whether the ones available today are the same as the ones I had, I have no idea. I sold most of them, but kept a few, and they are still stacked 3 high.

I have some of mine stacked 4 high in a closet, but they are supported on either side.
