I dropped my subscriptions when they changed the billing cycle and stopped letting you skip a month but I was all set to jump back in until I realized the large die of the month was a mini. If it had been a full size I won't have hesitated. The APG house die is calling me. I think you could make that into a cute Christmas card so I may cave and order that one.

@linsdas Gina Marie Designs wholesalecraftingsupplies.com has inexpensive dies. Her slimline die sets are around $13. Right now, you can get 10% off with coupon code JULY10OFF. And thank you for posting. I didn't realize that they dropped the ability to skip a month. I just cancelled my subscription because I haven't used the dies I've received. Will sign back up when there is something that I REALLY want, though I will miss getting my happy mail every month.

Maybe so but the fact that you have to spend $150 to get free shipping is utterly ridiculous.

Maybe so but the fact that you have to spend $150 to get free shipping is utterly ridiculous. WOW, talk about rude. Look at the cost of slimline and mini slimline from the other companies and the cost from Kat, you will see that the price more than makes up for the shipping. How about you try to run a business and keep prices low while everyone wants you to give away the store at the same time. The store wouldn't get anywhere. Keep up the great work Kat, I don't mind paying the shipping since I know 99% of the time when I order items that are in stock they will ship within 24 hours.

Well, the comment about shipping was certainly blunt, but maybe Kat should consider whether or not she is losing potential customers as a result.
I’ve never ordered from her, but I have ordered a lot from other companies. Even so, it has been extremely rare for me to spend $150 at one time with any company, even from those that have gotten a lot of orders (and money) from me.
For a bit more perspective, there were postings of outrage here when My Favorite Things raised their minimum order requirement from $25 to $50 to get free shipping. As a result, I order far less often from them now.
Queen & Co. has a minimum of $69 to get the free shipping. Heartfelt Creations is $100. They offer good deals to loyal customers, just in different ways, but I still wait to order from each of those companies until I have enough that I really want to get the free shipping.
I noticed that Kat showed quite a few slimline dies on sale for $15, which sounds good, but the claimed retail price of $30 for just one die seems a bit unrealistic to me. They seem to be unique, but many Spellbinders slimline dies retail for $25, not $30, so Kat’s listed retail price seems like it might be overpriced. I have never bought dies from Kat, so I don’t know the quality. Are they like Spellbinders or Heartfelt Creations dies, which are very sturdy? Or are they more like Queen & Co., whose dies are thinner, but cost less? Without knowing what the dies are actually like, I can’t tell if I am getting a good deal from Kat’s store or not. Add the requirement to spend $150 in order to get free shipping, and I am very hesitant to make that first purchase.
So, as rude as the shipping comment may have sounded, it raised an issue that Kat may not have been aware of. She may be losing potential customers because of it. It’s a far higher threshold than her competitors.

I’m pretty sure you’re one of the moderators of the enablers Facebook group (which has morphed into the Kat scrappiness group) and you’re on the kat scrappiness design team. So forgive me if I blow off your biased opinion. Let me also add, for all the bitching she did about the misti chick, she sure sold her soul to sell the misti’s in her store. PS: her dies are NOT low priced.

I love the mini slimline cards more than slimline so thanks for the enable.
While free shipping is an incentive, I usually don't base my purchase on that unless shipping cost are high. Some of the companies I've order from rarely have free shipping. I have ordered from Kat Scrappiness and have always had a good experience.

I'm sorry that I cannot offer free shipping but as a small business, I cannot afford to. Most of my customers don't just purchase dies or stamps but things that weigh more than 16 oz or are odd shaped so shipping can cost quite a bit. I do the best I can, I try to price everything as low as I can and still make a profit. I realize that this may not please everyone but I do the best I can. I do appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and take all feedback into account. Maybe I should just do away with the free shipping altogether if it causes problems? I'll have to think on it.

I just noticed the retail price error. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. That was a simple mistake. When we add new products, sometimes we "duplicate" a similar product and change the information to match the new product. This is what Isabel did when adding the mini slimline dies. She simply forgot to change the price from the slimline price to the mini slimline price. It has now been fixed. Well, the comment about shipping was certainly blunt, but maybe Kat should consider whether or not she is losing potential customers as a result. Something to maybe keep in mind is that a small business may not get cost breaks in manufacturing or shipping that larger companies may get. I don’t know if that’s the case if comparing, make pretend, Kat’s prices to Spellbinders, but a while back an LSS owner was talking about some expenses being higher for smaller companies due to smaller quantity.
As for die quality, I have dies from so many manufacturers, and whether thick or thin they’ve all worked perfectly, to the point that sturdy hasn’t been on my radar. But maybe I’ve just been lucky not buying from companies that make dies that wouldn’t last. (I don’t know the quality from Ali or the Chinese companies on Amazon since many of their designs are stolen so I don’t purchase from them.)
And to Kat - who I don’t know at all - your pricing seems quite fair, though I think scrapnana makes a very good point. The last thing you’d want is for someone to have a knee-jerk negative reaction seeing the $150, even if your shipping price is good. Maybe it would work to lower it to a still fairly high price other companies charge, or not to include it at all, assuming some companies don’t offer free shipping regardless of amount. Or if there’s a way to give a coupon code just to buyers, like Ellen Hutson does.

As a small business owner, you may want to rethink the way you respond to criticism, whether you view it as constructive or not. Your "small business" reason appears to be an excuse. There are many other small businesses that do offer reasonable free shipping. I took the liberty of looking some up for you: The Greetery – Free shipping on orders of $75 or more Gina Marie Designs – Free shipping for USA orders over $50 PaperTrey Ink - Free shipping on orders of $80 or more Pink & Main - Free shipping on orders of $75 or more Gina K Designs - Free shipping on orders of $50 or more Sweet & Sassy - Free shipping on orders of $75 or more Taylored Expressions - Free shipping on orders of $50 or more As to your "odd shaped" reason, how about this: Reverse Confetti - Free shipping on orders of $75 or more. They also have this caveat: + First Class Shipping is available for stamps and Confetti Cuts dies only. Orders containing products other than stamps and Confetti Cuts dies will be shipped via USPS Priority, AND MAY NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR FREE SHIPPING. I would not classify any of the above mentioned stores as huge retailers. These are small businesses run by individuals, just like you. So yeah, maybe you should rethink your free shipping limit.

Those are cute! I really like that fancy envelope die.
I checked out Kat's dies and they seem reasonably priced. I do love free shipping, (who doesn't?!) but it's not a deal breaker for me. Shipping isn't free for the business so why would it be free for me, especially if I'm making a lower dollar amount purchase? That would be a huge cut into their profits. It would cost me more than $6 in gas to get to my nearest craft store, so the convenience of goods showing up to my doorstep is well worth the price of shipping!
Side note to @katscrappiness - I think there's a glitch in your site as it said I needed to spend $485 more to get to free shipping.

I offer discounts quite often and I will ask our customers what they think of the free shipping at 150. My guess is that they'd rather have it then not because it's used so often. However, I will poll all of them in our FB group to ask them since you guys brought it up I do have employees and rent and overhead to pay so it's my responsibility to make sure I can do my best to cover all of that and still keep my customers happy. Not always easy to do but it's my job and I love it!
