OMG!!! Tim Holtz is re-releasing the village dwelling dies as thinlits and in a smaller size. They come with fully customizable windows and doors and will be sold as a bundle of 87 pieces, retailing for $84.99. Called THE VILLAGE COLLECTION SERIES!

If you have a silhouette or cricut, there's a lot of 3D SVG cutting files out there for a lot cheaper. They do have a unique look to them though.

That's awesome! Not something I'll pick up but I know what it's like to lust after discontinued supplies, so I'm sure there's a lot of happy Tim Holtz fans out there!

My grandkids had fun making spooky houses with them. It would be fairly easy to create custom doors, windows, etc., with Silhouette software, but yes, there are lots of windows, doors, etc., already available, as well as similar 3D houses. The cutting files might have to be adapted to fit the Tim Holtz houses, but it shouldn’t be hard.

Cute, but wow that's pricey.
This thread made me go look up the cost of a Silhouette.

Cute, but wow that's pricey. This thread made me go look up the cost of a Silhouette. For me, it's totally worth it. I cut paper, foam (to make stamps), plastic sheets (to make stencils), vinyl for decaling, etc. Happy to answer any ?? I have an older version - the 2015 Cameo. But it's a champ.

They are really cute and the money isn't the hardest part for me to swallow. It is the 87 dies to make 4 little houses. I am not that person who will do that kind of detail work. I can see them on a mantle for Christmas though.

Like others have said, I can find the cut files for my silhouette so this is a hard pass for me.

They do have a unique look to them though. and don't forget, AliExpress will probably jump on the bandwagon with their own knock offs. they couldn't knock off the thicker dies but these will be a breeze for them. i like the thicker dies because of the larger size. they're not even that large to begin with. i don't think my arthritic fingers could do all the intricate folding for all the pieces of these new little houses. they struggle enough with the current size dies. oh to have young hands again.

These a really cute! Give me ideas on how you would use these adorable little houses... They make really cute home decor items that you can create and tailor to every season and/or holiday. If you google “Putz houses” or use that term for a Pinterest search, you should see lots of ideas.

I’m having trouble telling from the photos, but are they even smaller than the originals? The description sounds like they are the same size, just in a thin die, but the originals weren’t very big. The Sizzix dies were limited to 6 inches wide at most, so the original finished houses tended to be pretty small. I can’t imagine making ones that are even smaller.

You have always been a part of the heist. You're only mad now because you don't like your cut.

Goldenshill is a paper arts store in Northern Virginia. Before I moved away, they often displayed the little houses made with the Tim Holtz dies. That’s what got me to buy some of the dies. The little houses were really, really cute!

The base village dies came in the XL size so they were about 12" long. I think the assembled houses were about 4" wide at most.

I saw that photo, but the reason that I ask is that the description link said:
Exciting news that Tim Holtz has partnered with Sizzix/Ellison to RE-release the Village Dwelling dies in a thin metal die bundle with customizable doors and windows. The "Village Collection" comes in a set of 87 pieces will retail for $84.99 and released in October 2021.
I saw the photo that looks like it’s the same building, just a smaller size. It didn’t have an explanation that I could see, though, and the above description made it sound like it is the same, so I appreciate the clarification.

to get the look of the sample houses shown, you have to buy the texture plates and roof shingle dies too. judging from the photo with the packaging, those aren't included in the 87 pieces.

In an odd coincidence, today I needed to make space on my phone for taking videos, so I was going through and deleting photos. While going through the pictures, I came across several samples of the what could be done with the Tim Holtz Village dies. They were on display at Goldenshill Paper Arts store. They really were super cute, which is why I did an impulse buy and bought some of the original dies that day.
If anyone here is interested, I will post the photos that I took of their samples.

The advantage of using cut files on a Cameo or similar is that they can be made in different sizes too - I love to make teeny tiny versions of things, or to scale the files right up as far as I can to fit the paper. So versatile!

Here are the photos that I took (with permission) of the samples at Goldenshill. Some are clearly more involved to make than others. Beach Shack: Santa’s beach shack: Winter Cottage: Gingerbread Cottage: Haunted House: Farmhouse:
