My dogs are doing very well with the fireworks. They are duped, but they are still doing well. Thank goodness for the little things. DH also tried avocado bombs in the smoker and they look good so far. They're huge! Lol

We've been enjoying the fireworks from the adjacent neighborhoods. Tonight we could see them from the kitchen or the driveway. Last night was the best. I laid on my bed and had a perfect view from my bedroom window.

Today stands out to me that I'm grateful for day 3 of no severe pain !!!! I also convinced myself to stop being sad over missing all the fun July 4 celebrations we used to have with family. My dogs are doing very well with the fireworks. They are duped, but they are still doing well. Thank goodness for the little things That's good to hear! It's heartbreaking how horrible this holiday is for sooo many animals! They used to scare our elderly doggie, but he no longer hears them. Our other doggie has only lived with us 10 months, so this is his first 4th with us. He isn't bothered at all. Ugh, where we live, (outside city limits, so they're legal) ---people have been shooting them off for more than a week-- enough already!

My bigger dog is hard of hearing so she's ok. The smaller dog is skittish with loud sounds anyway so this is just horrible for him. DH spent many years sleeping in the den with them on the 4th until we started using CBD/THC last year. It was a godsend.

The unity shown today at the block party we attended. Food, drink, games galore, talk, laughter, neighborliness, awesome fireworks.

The skies cleared up late in the day so we went out for ice cream. DGD had red, white and blue sprinkles on hers and I caught a nice photo of the flag blowing in the wind.

We had a BBQ at friend's house. We hadn't seen them since pre-pandemic.
My funniest moment was watching 5 baby squirrels chasing each other around and around my neighbor's yard. It was hysterical.

Floating in the pool with dh after dinner. Enjoying the quiet and relaxing. The first time in years that I've managed to get him in the pool.

Overall we had a very chill day. Dh and I celebrated 27 years of marriage with us tangled up with each other and having a restorative, epic nap. We're fun like that. 😆

My neighborhood was unusually (and blissfully) quiet today. I have a neighbor that is certified for working with big fireworks and he LOVES them and often puts on a lovely little (albeit illegal here in MA) show but the last couple years he's been away for the holiday.
I started some infused vodkas for summer cocktails and I also made a key lime pie for a treat and it turned out fabulous. It was a nice day.

I was happy to put an end to our soda stream empty co2 state of emergency and finding nice, extra soft towels in the process. (We went to bed bath and beyond)
