Help! I'm working on a photo book project and want to scan a bunch of old pix. I'm using an HP laserjet printer/copier/scanner.
I've tried wiping with microfiber cloth, microfiber cloth plus iKlear monitor cleaning spray. I have fewer of the white dot artifacts but there are still quite a few.
I would appreciate any and all tips.
Thank you!

If you still have spots after cleaning the glass the the problem may be caused by dirt particle under the glass. There are instructions online for removing the glass but I personally wouldn’t try doing it myself. I’d contact a computer repair place to see if they can clean it.

It's fairly easy to remove the glass from Epson all in one scanners, I'm not sure about the other brands. But yeah, if you're not comfortable, I'd for sure check with a local computer repair place. Or, if you're in the SF Bay Area, I can help you out (I used to do tech support/IT stuff for 20 years before I became a stay at home mom).

It might be easier and more effective to run a dust removal process in your photo editing software. Most old photos have tiny dust particles and spots that show up in scans and the computer can "clean them" very effectively without much skill or effort on your part. Depends on what software you have - Photoshop/Elements?

I second joblackford’s suggestion of using photo editing software. That is what I do.
