Staying a couple nights in Grand Teton NP mid September at Jackson Lake Lodge. Would you stay in room with view of tree lined street for $350/night or pay $450 for the same room but with a balcony and beautiful view of grand Teton mountain range as well as Jackson Lake. Just curious what peas would do

It would depend on how much time I thought I'd actually be in the room. Or who I was with!
For me probably not worth the extra, but I could easily change my mind.

If I could be out in nature all day and enjoying the Grand Tetons, I'd save that extra $100 for a nice meal. If money isn't really an issue, then I'd opt for the view.
My opinion might be skewed from the fact that I have a glorious mountain view every day though.

In that area, it’s highly unlikely we’d be spending much time in our room, so I’d go with the less expensive one. I’ll be seeing gorgeous views all day.

We would (and do) go for the view room almost all the time. For us, that makes the trip that much better. Really depends on what your priorities are though. For us, the best experience possible is top consideration. We are older (mid 60s) and since life has no guarantees, we opt to go big.

I would forgo the room with the better view. $100 a night is too much to pay for a view that I may or may not take advantage of. Possibly I could find a public place to sit and enjoy the ambience of the area without having to pay so much for it.

If I’m spending that much already, get the view!

I’d get the view. With my back, I have to go back and rest, so I’d like to enjoy the room 😊

when I travel I only use the room to sleep, shower and store my luggage. Any view is lost on me. I'd probably find a cheaper hotel to be honest. But I certainly wouldn't pay more for a balcony I will never use and a view I will never see because one look out the window and I am done looking at the view.

We live right next to the mountains and the sunset time is earlier than what is usually posted. So my guess is sunset would be around 7:15-7:30 in September. Would you be back your room by then to enjoy it before then?

I’d definitely go with the view for an extra $100. I always love a balcony just to be able to get fresh air. It adds so much to our trips.

To me, it depends on what kind of trip it is for you. Once in a lifetime "I'll never be here again" trip? Get the view. Weekend getaway "sure, let's go there that sounds fine" trip? No view.
I haven't been on vacation in something like 12 years. If I were to ever go again, I would get the view.
Also, if you get the street view room, is there going to be street noise keeping you up at night?

I’d spend the money for the view. I’m all about a view.

Since it’s just for a few days, I’d probably splurge for the view.

I would stay in the cheaper room, because I would be able to see the mountains in the daytime.

Hmmm it depends. If I'm mostly out hiking every day, and presumably on a budget, then I would save the $100 for something else. But If I think I'm going to spend time in the room then I might. For example, if the balcony has a hot tub and a sunset view of the mountains, then I would splurge.

Probably would go for the cheaper one. I probably would spend the day outdoors anyway. Of course if this were a romantic getaway….

I’d spend the extra on the view. We like to hang out sometimes in our hotel room on vacation and a view is a nice bonus.

The balcony- a place to enjoy my coffee in the morning and a drink to end the day.

I would go for the view. It will be a gorgeous sight first thing in the morning and set you up for a great frame of mind.

If I knew I would not be in the room much to enjoy the view, I would go with the cheaper room. If I knew that I would use the balcony, I'd pay for the view. We paid extra to have a balcony room with a view of the Vegas strip a couple years ago. We used that balcony multiple times each day we were there.

I would and have called the hotel (especially if we have stayed there before) to negotiate the fees, get free wifi and parking. By booking directly with the hotel they don’t have to pay online fees. Also check online for reviews of the rooms

I would probably choose the view. I love having my morning coffee on a balcony, and I would enjoy it in the evening even after dark, especially if it’s hot during the day.
But there are other factors, such as how early I’ll leave the room in the morning and how full my day is. And my overall vacation budget. If I’m planning several weekend trips that $200 might be better saved for my next trip.

The only time my hotel room view mattered was when we stayed at Disneyland Hotel. We wanted a view of the parks at night and for fireworks.

Room with the view always. Two years ago we were in Shanghai for NYE and we had a room that was floor to ceiling windows right over The Bund and got to watch the best laser light show laying in bed.

Pilcas, last time we stayed at a Hotel was in 2019. I believe they charged for WiFi. As the Hotel does not have air conditioning we take a room on the main floor.
