I was using my Vagabond this weekend and the plates got stuck in it. So I have plates, two dies and paper stuck. It will not budge. I guess that it was the wrong combo of thickness, although I had run the very same stack through right before this one and it went fine.
Anyone have tips on how to get it unstuck. I can't even break a plate, it's so tight. I haven't figured out a way to unscrew anything that would relieve the pressure.
Any help is greatly appreciated so I don't have to throw my less than one year Vagabond away and my magnetic board and my dies!

Oh, wow. That sucks. I have no answer for you, my machines are all manual crank and the one I use now I can change the pressure at anytime.
Did you email the company?
I have heard they have a tendency to burn out but I'm guessing from what you say this is not the problem.
I assume you tried backing it off.

I've done this.....and what I did was push the plates in from one side....stop and then pull from the other side...(while holding the power button). It sometimes takes awhile but I was eventually able to get the free. It takes patience as it it moves slowly...I started by pulling out the paper .....I totally feel your pain!!!!

Try YouTube. Everything is on there. Every time I have an issue I've found a video on how to fix it. Good luck! :-)

I have the Big Shot Express (electric but not in fancy case) and have done the same thing. My solution has been to push the button every 30 seconds or so. It will advance a tiny bit and takes a while but generally frees itself.
Mine came with a tiny Phillip's head screw driver to use in a small hole on the unit ( unplugged), This takes even longer to free up the stuck items.

Thanks ladies. I will try your suggestions. I tried to back it out, I tried to push it forward, I tried to put the paper out (it tore at stuck area). Heck, I even tried to break the top acrylic plate thinking that it I could break it close enough and I could move it a little bit, then it would be free. I haven't tried to push the plates while pushing the power button or the 30 second test. I have looked to see if I could unscrew it. Can't figure that out. I meant to email the day I posted this but got distracted. I need to send do that. And I will check you tube. I did google.

No, it still sits there in the corner of my room. I emailed the company and am waiting for a reply. I'm about to toss it across the driveway and see if the crash knocks it loose.

I just registered so that I could respond to this question. I sure hope it helps.
When I was at a Dreamweaver workshop, Lynell Harlow demoed the Vagabond. She pointed out that the only problem with using an electric machine was that you can’t feel the resistance the way you can with a hand cranked machine so it’s easier to use too thick a sandwich and jam the machine. Sure enough, she jammed it. (While talking to us, she lost track of how many plates she'd added and added one too many. It was stuck and would not budge. A man who was attending the workshop suggested she let it rest a few seconds and then press the arrow. It moved slightly. After repeating the rest/press technique several times, she was able to remove the sandwich from the machine. After removing one of the thin plates, the sandwich went through easily.
I was happy to see this done in case I ever buy one and jam it.

Thanks, Daria. I tried that also. I ended up smashing it with a hammer, tearing it up with pliers and finally at least saved my plates.
