I have no luck at all with the Silhouette pens. What do you use?

I don't have any luck with any gel pens, so the Silhouette pens were a dud to me too. I've used the Sharpie felt tip pens and they worked. I've had them for several years so it seems like they've gotten a makeover in the look/branding since then. This is the closest I could find to what I have, but I think it's an older version of current items. And I like the .8mm because it's not too thin/fine but not chunky either. I haven't tried using a super fine point with my Silhouette, I'm not sure how well it would work long term.

Assumption here you're looking for standard pens and not machine-specific components. I'm partial to the Staedtler triplus fineliner range. Comes in a lot of colours and they last seemingly forever. I had a smaller set I got in highschool and passed along 15+ years later, which still works just as well as the day it was bought. The one complaint I have is that some of the caps don't match the ink colour well. The lighter pastels are particularly out of sync. Nib size is 0.3 I believe. www.staedtler.us/en/products/ink-writing-instruments/fineliners/triplus-fineliner-334-triangular-fineliner/

I just bought the Silhouette pens - the one with the black casing, not white. They worked perfectly. I read a post on the Silhouette School blog site that said to use the blue holder (it has a "1" on it) and to hold a penny in it and only push the pen holder down until it hits the penny. That's where you lock it in. It worked perfectly. I used a gold metallic pen and it turned out really gorgeous. FYI this is for a Cameo 4 and Portrait 3. Here's the blog post: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2021/01/perfect-sketch-with-sketch-pens-in.htmlI do want to get the adaptor so I can try the other millions of markers and pens I own.
