I have sorted and stamped all my stamps and put them in their DVD cases (106). Now I am stamping them into the catalog by category. The problem is getting the ink on my fingers and smudging the paper. I have tried different things to clean my hands every 10 minutes or so, with little success until I remembered the Windex thing in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding. I have a towel saturated with Windex and just wipe my hands every few minutes as needed. No more smudges.
Now I have to be more careful about upside down stamps. Perfectionist I am, I will redo the whole page if there is an error. I don't know why; it's my book, nobody else uses it or even sees it, but I know it's there. It's only time, ink, and paper. When it happens, I just quit for the day and get over it. I have plenty of other things to do, like yard work, laundry, grocery shopping, cooking meals, cleaning house; I guess I'm preaching to the choir here.

Hang in there Don. That's a huge project! How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time

I can relate to this so much. I already had a stamp index for the most part. But then, I got lazy and stopped stamping the sets in as I got them. I also separate my sets in to categories as well. So, flash forward a couple of years and the stamp index is so “ behind” from all my new purchases. I have been working on it here and there for months and am still not done. Part of the reason it’s dragging along is that I try to do it while we are watching tv downstairs and I do some… then I’m too lazy to go get more to do. So a few days go by and I start up again. If I would just stay in my craft room and do it, it would be done in 3 days probably. But, no, I have to do things the hard way. I will say, though, that I don’t mind a smudge here or there. I do know it’s made me love my stamps all over again. I also will be proud of it when it’s done. I’ll definitely use my newer stuff more. Hang in there- we can finish this!

Don't redo your index cards, don! Think of them as artist's fingerprints for posterity!

I worked on cataloging my dies this weekend, my stamps were done, but I do have some new sets that are still in my pending box. I have many more dies to do. It is an arduous task but one well worth it when completed. Hang in there.

don “Put some Windex on it!” LOL That and “It’s a bundt.” Btw, there’s a clip of an interview years later where the actor who played the father talks about how he’s been given literally thousands of bottles of Windex over the years, and how he’s asked to autograph bottles. And Windex had a commercial using a My Big Fat Greek wedding theme. But here’s the question for you: original or ammonia free?

But here’s the question for you: original or ammonia free? I use the high octane stuff.

So if you don’t want to stand on your head to see them, what about taking an Exacto and cutting that one image out and adhering paper to the back and re-stamping? Or adhering a piece over it? Especially if it’s a page with a lot of images.

I feel your pain. I am making my stamp index and it bothers me that there are some smudges. Debating if I want to quit since it isn't perfect, but probably will finish it. I just wish it were perfect.

I just wish it were perfect. That would be me, too. Would a White-Out pen cover the smudges? I used one earlier this week over some gel pen ink and was shocked how well it covered, especially because the pen was very old. I once made a little 3-D pizza box for a birthday, complete with pizza inside and a piece propped up - took forever and then smudged the outside of the box at the very end. So after cursing myself I stamped tiny starbursts and stars in a few places as a design element. You might not want that on a catalog though. I actually just pulled it out! I will try it. Its frustrating when I am a perfectionist and this is most definitely not perfection!
