If you haven't read it, there is a children's book called If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, about a little mouse who asks for thing after thing as one situation leads to another.
So, my latest GAMAC story is this...
For my last birthday, I was given sb supplies. Very unexpected and very welcomed. In it included a Zoo themed paper pad.
I hadn't been to the zoo in four years.
And those pics are already scrapped.
But I want to use this, right?
It's adorable, it's beautiful.
But how can I use it without photos?
So I took the kids to the zoo.
But one trip won't be enough pics to use all the paper.
So I bought a year long membership.
And now we've visited four times already, and I have a lot of nice photos.
Too many to add to our everyday album.
So I need to buy a new album. One for just the zoo.
My online cart has the album, but to reach free shipping I need to add more. So in goes adhesive, and page protectors, and some zoo stickers for good measure.
But now that I've invested in all this stash into scrapping zoo pics, I will need more photos to fill the album.
So I booked another day trip to the zoo. 😁

LavenderLayoutLady, that story is a HOOT! I think you need to create a page for the zoo album or the general family album JUST TO TELL THIS STORY!!! My stories are not so fun to tell. More of a buy a tool (say a die cutting machine); need extra supplies (like dies); then storage for my extras; then a better machine... Or stamps, and inks, and special papers and then misters and brushes and cleaners and...

I bought a new Silhouette because my old one would not work on my computer anymore and DH is always on his work computer and joint custody was not working...
The new machine has bluetooth, so it doesn't have to be near my desk, yay because it doesn't fit on there.
Except the place I set it up (probably 15 feet away max) is too far to connect to the bluetooth for some reason (but my wireless printer works from across the same room just fine, go figure...)
So I rearranged my whole family room to move my computer closer to the Silhouette. And the bluetooth still doesn't work...
At least when it's plugged directly into the computer I can use it but it would sure be nice to put it next to my printer where I originally was going to put it... and now I want cookies!

That is hilarious and I love your outcome. Sounds completely reasonable to me.

LavenderLayoutLady , I love that story. I’ve definitely been guilty of what you just described, only it turned into year memberships to the Arboretum, Botanical Gardens, and a Science Museum, all with dies, stamps, and papers to go with the photos. There must be a name for those of us with this tendency. My most recent personal example took a slightly different twist. Recently, I was pricing box card die sets. They’re expensive, and I can’t afford them right now. My Cameo doesn’t give nice stitched lines like the box card dies (the ones that I want) do. I really wanted those stitched lines. I figured out that I could use regular stitched dies that I already own to make the boxed card. It was actually pretty easy to do. I was pretty happy with the results, so I posted it on a Facebook group for the company that makes the dies that I used. I got lots of nice compliments, and more than one request to make a tutorial. I used to teach scrapbooking and card classes, but I’ve never done a video tutorial. How hard could it be? I couldn’t afford to buy the box card dies, and I certainly couldn’t afford to buy video making software. However…. DH had new video software that he’d bought for work but never used, so he let me load it on my computer for now. I had to learn the software. It gave me something new to focus on, and it was a great distraction from just being DH’s caregiver. I messed up what I was saying and got tired of rerecording video over and over. The big name scrappers on YouTube do voice overs. Obviously that would help me get the video done quicker. My son helped me download some free software and loaned me his microphone. I finished the video and had my son critique it. He said that I need to add in text in some places. He was right. All the good tutorial videos that I like have text here and there. I had to learn how to do that. I needed someplace to put it online, so I asked here. Those who responded said YouTube. I signed up for YouTube. Posting just one video seemed pretty pathetic. I had already made another box card that included some additional steps and different dies. I added a picture of it in as a teaser at the end of my video, because now that I have a YouTube channel, I need to make more videos. I already know what I’ll be doing next. Apparently I have a new hobby. At least it should get me to spend more time crafting, and get me to use more of the stamps, dies, and paper in my stash. I suspect there are quite a few of us who are inclined to follow the GAMAC pattern. Isn’t that why so many of us have such a large hoard stash?

See! That's what it's all about. We have all been doing this for years, with out even knowing it. It is why your room/tote/shelves/drawers are too small. I have 3 stamp positioners, hand made, Letterpress, and Stamp Perfect. I am waiting for my Stamaratus to be delivered Wednesday, I hope. I haven't read the book, but I can certainly identify with wanting more ... and extra too.

And as awkward as this may feel or seem, now you need a "donate" button, because OMG I watched your video and that is a lot of work. I learned so much and I really think you could make some $$ off this like the bigger names do.

Loving your GAMAC stories, LavenderLayoutLady and scrapnnana! Such lovely tales of putting in extra effort for a wonderful reward (shared by others!). Mine is so much simpler but ties in with LavenderLayoutLady because after reading her zoo thread and replying in there a few times, I ended up taking my mother and stepfather on a little excursion last weekend to... a local zoo! I guess all the animal talk got to me. Oops! It was a fun experience, down to spending several minutes by the fence just a couple of metres/6 feet away from a baby macaque playing with a tall bird feather he'd found in the enclosure. He kept looking up at us then got distracted by his "treasure". So sweet!

Thank you, kmage. Yes, it was a lot of work. I enjoyed doing it, though……well, at least some of the time, and by the time I was done, I was ready to start the next one. I still hope to get it done and up soon. Thanks for the compliment that you think I could make money at this. I’ll think about that later. It might just trigger another GAMAC.

Ha, what a funny story!!
My GAMAC story is always with organizing. I just want to put my stamps away. Except they are a mess, better make some dividers like I've veen meaning to for years. Now what categories do I need? Sort through the stamps, hmmm, some don't seem to fit any category or fit in multiple categories! I know, I should make a stamp index!
And on and on it goes. 😜

I'm on an endless treadmill of buying more Doodlebug paper to use up the diecuts and stickers I have, but then having extra paper left so I buy more diecuts...

I had a beautiful line of outdoor themed scrapbook paper. I used a bit of it, but still had lots left.
I booked a camping trip, and thought it would be a good excuse to use the rest of the supplies. But my camping clothes did not go with the paper, so I ordered a couple of new "camping shirts" to go with the paper.
I printed the photos from the camping trip, the shirts did not match the paper in the printed photos.
I re-printed the photos in black and white.
I took the black and white photos, and the supplies to my LSS to scrapbook them. While at my LSS I found new outdoor themed paper that looks better with the black and white photos.
I bought the supplies, and used some of them, but now I have some leftover...
