I recently upgraded to a Cricut Explore and no longer have a use for my Expression. Naturally, I'm thinking of selling it. However, I'm a little torn/confused as to whether or not I should (or can) sell it with the SCAL software that I purchased for it. Mine is the version prior to the court settlement, so it works great with my Expression. Once I'm rid of the Expression though, I'll have absolutely no use for the software.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation with their machine and did you end up selling it with the software? Why or why not?
Thanks!

You'd have to burn a disc with the program on it. I don't know if that would work or not. Do you have a computer that doesn't have SCAL on it? If so try it and see if it works.

It's not transferable. They would have trouble getting it activated on their computer, unless they went under your id and your email. You might be able to go in and change your email to theirs, but it would have to be done on the 'down low'.
One thing - I know you said you bought the Explore - but you can upgrade SCAL2 to SCAL3 for free. It works great with the Silhouette Cameo, in case you ever change. When upgrading to SCAL3, you still get to keep SCAL2 - they are independent of each other.
You might want to re-think that...Since you are familiar with SCAL, you might be way ahead of the game in using that for your design software and exporting the files as "SVG" and then cutting them with the Design Space software. I am not super familiar with the Design Space software, but I do know you can import SVG's - but the "design" part of Design Space is total crap. You can do SO much more with SCAL. Keep it!

I agree with iowgirl. SCAL is non-transferable. I use the SCAL2 with my Cricut, but I did download the free SCAL3 version for when Cricut dies and I get a Silhouette.

Oh good idea to download SCAL3 in preparation. I might do the same. I have a circut create and am sure it's going to kick the bucket one of these days.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I will forego bundling it with the expression and just hold on to it and upgrade it as someone suggested. Glad I asked for the input. Much obliged
