Updated on Page 2.. didn't go.. ------------------- Of course I am not talking millions.. but if so and you wanna share...lol... but I am thinking $500 up to whatever?? Tomorrow friends and I are heading up to the mountains to our gambling town (Black Hawk or Central City). I don't gamble hardly at all. The boys are going to play some Texas Hold'em.. My girlfriend and I will probably throw in some quarters in the slots but we are just planning to hang out together while they gamble and have a good lunch. I definitely need the money but I would never gamble my entire savings in hopes of winning. But it is fun to dream.. put a quarter in and out pops $10,000 or whatever. Shoot I'll take $50.. haha.

DH has won a decent amount of money playing cards. I’m sure my mom had won a few hundred bucks or so playing slots in Las Vegas. I never win anything so I’m money ahead to just take that money and go shopping instead. At least that way I go home with something for my money and effort, LOL.

I don't gamble other than an occasional lottery ticket, so no. But a former co-worker of mine once won a visit to a state TV lottery show where she got to spin a prize wheel. She won $100,000 on that thing. The sad part is she gambled it all back away within a year.

I am not a fan of gambling at all. But I was once with a big group of people on a cruise for a friend's 30th birthday. My bff was with me and she gave me 20 bucks and made me gamble with her. I placed the $20 down on a number on roulette and won. I think the odds are 35 to 1, so I won enough to pay my bar tab for the trip and to get a mani/pedi on the ship for me and my friend.

I'm not much of a gambler. In my early 20s I lived in Tahoe and worked as a cocktail waitress in one of the casinos and saw what gambling did to people. A friend came to town, and he had been raised a Mennonite, so he had never gambled, and he wanted to give it a go. We went to a casino and I played roulette. I put a dollar on 00, and it won! I let the money ride and it hit a second time. That got me a chunk of change, I took half back, and let the rest ride. The roulette guy told me I was a nutter to leave any money there. It hit a third time! I walked away with almost $2000 while the roulette guy gaped like a cod fish. I never gambled again, and neither did my friend.

My dad took our family to Vegas for dd's 21st birthday, years ago. Dd and I both won a couple of hundred dollars on quarter slots. We cashed out and bought ourselves diamond studs, and I got a tennis bracelet also. Dad thought that was dumb, but we still have our jewelry!

I'm a lot like you guys.. I don't gamble much...DH and I went to Vegas about 20 years ago.. I won the trip.. $2,000 to any destination.. I used that to pay for the flights, hotel, 2 meals, tickets to Celine Dion and a few other things. We brought $20 per person per day to gamble. Once it was gone it was gone. One day that was entertainment almost all day, the next day, it was just an hour or so.
If I actually do win anything, which I am not counting on.. I am definitely cashing out. No way I would take a chance twice.. lol.. I told DH (he's out of town) that I just got paid and I am taking all of it to double my money... All I got back was a smirky emoji back.. lol

Her parents would go almost every weekend. She knew they went but had no idea how much money they were spending until her dad passed away. Thankfully as weird as this sounds, COVID hit and her mom couldn't go anymore due to her health. I think that helped her curve her appetite. Plus her DD watches every move she makes now. She is able to watch her and if she does go now, DD watches her account like a hawk. She was pretty close to losing her house.

Slots don't pay but cards do. I don't remember the stats, it's been awhile since I worked a casino. DH plays blackjack sometimes, when he gets to the city and has time, and he's won a decent amount more than once. We have a friend how plays poker and does alright also. There are people who have played VLTs and lost it all.

I hate gambling. There are many other things I'd rather waste my money on. That said, if I'm in the situation, I might put a $10 in a slot machine. If I double up my money, I'll cash out. Most times, I lost my $10. Once, I bought a pull tab and won $100. I didn't gamble that away, kept it! I severely allergic to cigarettes/smoke though, so I rarely find myself in this situation. I get a massive headache very quickly.

My cousin won $20,000 once while on vacation in I think it was the Bahamas (maybe) and didn't have to pay taxes on it - something about because he won it there.

I won $1,000 once. My parents were BIG gamblers in Vegas, and were very big winners many many many times. My Mom won $18,750 on her 60th birthday. I know she also won $25,000 once. They would come back with anywhere from 10-20 W-2Gs each trip. My mom could read a slot machine more than anyone, and my Dad can play electronic Keno like no one else. Those were their games, slots and keno.
Their luck never rubbed off on me...

I got lucky at the craps table a couple of times, being there when someone rolled the dice for over an hour. That was fun! And I’ve hit two royal flushes on the poker machines. But I don’t play the poker machines too much because my money goes fast on that. I rather play Blackjack when I want my money to last a little longer.

I hate losing. I think it is fun for about $20 worth. HA...

I'm too scared to play the card games... I am just not that comfortable not really knowing how to play... I can play at home.. but that is as far as that goes.

The dealers will help you and will explain everything. They can’t tell you exactly what to do, but they’ll tell you what is better to do and what they would do. For example, on blackjack, if you ask “should I” they’ll say it is up to you. But If you ask “would you”, they’ll tell you what they would do.

I think it is fun for about $20 worth. That's about as much fun as I spend too, lol. Before Covid, dh and I would go to the horse races once or twice a year and take $20 each to bet and have the buffet dinner (we're fancy like that). I'd pick horses based on their names or where they trained or other random info and bet a couple of dollars. If I won, it meant I could bet on more races throughout the evening but once the money was gone, I was finished betting. It was a fun, low-key night out that didn't break the bank.

I am not lucky ever. Hubby and I went to play pachinko and I won $150 in 15 min and left. I knew I would lose it if I played longer so we went out for lunch.

We just got back from Vegas. And DH won big...$14,600 over three days. Most was won on a $10 slot machine and the rest over poker. We always win playing in the high limit bar/sections of the casino.
We have a rule whatever he wins, I get half of. So I got half to buy purses. Im not complaining, lol.

I would rather buy something for my money but do occassionally put some money in machines. Years ago I won $250 on a nickel machine (yes, real coins).
And on our Alaskan cruise 15 years ago my dh spotted a dollar coin in a dollar machine, so he put it in and won $300.
We have several tribal casinos in our area and in my volunteer work as an income tax preparer I've seen some pretty big winners. I always wonder how much they put in to get their big prizes.

I rarely win in Black Hawk or Central City. I usually can play for a long time on $20 though. We go to Cripple Creek more often since it is closer and the slots seem a little looser. Plus they have a gang of a dozen loose donkeys that roam the town during the summer and fall and just smooching one of them is always a win in my book. Lately the Lock it Links have been really good (Ameristar). My husband has won several thousand in Vegas several times.

My ex-brother-in-law won £80,000 at a local bingo. He was with his wife, brother and mother. Their pact was to divide any winnings between whoever was playing on the day. Unfortunately, all four of them used a huge amount of their winnings to pay of their previous gambling debts and the win made them gamble even more, leaving them with more huge debts!

When a group of friends and I were leaving Vegas, I had Pre-check and got through security really fast. So I put $20 bucks in a slot machine to kill some time waiting for them. All of a sudden the lights and noises went off and I wound up winning about $1100! Of course, I had to run all over the airport to find a payout stand that had enough cash. LOL

I've won $500 on a Wheel of Fortune slot machine in Vegas but that's the most. I cashed out, gave my friend the $100 I owed her and held on to the rest. My dh has won almost $6,000 on scratcher lotto tickets in the last 2 years.

One night dh and I went to the local casino when we lived in San Diego to have dinner with friends. We all decided to play a bit. Dh sat at a machine that kept him busy for quite a while. I played 10.00 in another machine, but lost, so I went over next to dh and sat down. I stuck my other 10.00 into the machine. It was a quarter machine. I spun once and hit some crazy screen. The change gal walked over and said "someone will be right with you". I was like "huh? wonder what that means"? I ended up winning 5000.00. DH asked "what are you going to play next"? I said "um...nothing, we are going home and I'm paying off your truck". LOL On a girls trip to Vegas, I decided to try my hand at Let it Ride. We had one of those small hand held poker games at home and I learned to play on that. LOL! I sat down at a table full of guys. I was so out of my comfort zone, and was praying I'd get a no brainer hand. Luckily I did. I got 3 5's dealt to me. I took my 3 5's and laid them down on the table. The dealer asked me "Do you know what you're doing?" I said "yes, actually, I do". He then proceeded to ask me to show him my cards. Irritated, I flipped my cards over and showed them and said "am I wrong?" He of course couldn't say a word. The guys at the table started saying, "I don't have a 5, I don't have a 5" etc... The dealer dealt the next card for the table, and it was another 5! The guys at the table all yelled and cheered for me LOL I won 1700.00 on one hand of Let it Ride, got up without leaving a tip for the dealer since he was such a jackoff to me, and the guys were like "where are you going?" I said "To lock my money up in my safe until I leave to go home". A couple of them asked at the same time "Will you marry me"? LOLOLOL I took all my winnings home and bought a new couch and love seat from Montgomery Wards. On a trip to San Diego to visit my Mom, she wanted to go to the seafood buffet at a local casino (different than the one above), so we went and had all you can eat crab legs. LOL My Mom needed to use the restroom before we left, so I waited for her. There was a dollar slot right by the bathroom so I decided to stick a 20.00 in it for craps and giggles. On my third pull I ended up winning 1000.00! It paid for my trip plus a little extra. Those are my "big" wins. When I turned 18 the Ca Lottery was really new, so I bought a 1.00 scratch ticket. I won 2.00 so I got my 1.00 back and bought another ticket with my "winnings". I kept winning and would pocket all the winnings except 1.00 and buy 1 more ticket. I ended up with 300.00. I went to Vegas in April for my bff's wedding and I took 100.00 with me to gamble for the weekend. I went home with the same 100.00. I felt that was a win! LOL
