Oh lord, I’m ridiculously low on TP & paper towels and ive been putting off going to the store ( I’m lazy ) sigh.
The paper towel I can manage without I have bamboo cloths but TP I need, even if I get a bidet attachment I still don’t like being wet. ( I guess technically TP is a luxury )

I wonder if it is from back to school shopping? For my dd we need 3 containers of wipes, hand sanitizer and of course Kleenex. These items were on our lists even before Covid.

All of those things are on the “community supplies” list for my rising middle schooler. I was finally breathing a sigh of relief to see a full aisle of brand name toilet paper and paper towels in my local Target last week when I was there. They even had signs up for their “buy 3, get a $10 gift card” promo that I loved back in pre-Covid days, so I bought two big packs of TP (one for home, one for the lake cabin) and a huge pack of paper towels that I split up between the two places.

I just got back from a quick trip to my closest small Krogers. They have the "please wear a mask and social distance" sign back up. Most people ignored it. (Our mask mandate ended around July 4th.) More staff were wearing masks than I've noticed before. We have a very unimpressive vaccine rate and a climbing infection rate, but no word from the government at any level that masks are required. We have some items that have never returned to pre-pandemic levels. I haven't been able to find some of the dog food and treats for my dogs in months. Another strange one is Coffee Mate coffee creamer. It comes in and flies off the shelf in many of the flavors. I think people finally figured out it is a whole lot cheaper to make your coffee at home. I did get my Caffeine Free Diet Coke, so I'm good. Do you think it’s possible they stopped making them? I know some of the bigger companies did that to be able to pump out more of their most popular products at the height of this, and there were many who said they’d likely not go back to having as much of a selection to offer.

I was just at Costco and they had a ton of sanitizing supplies and masks in stock - multiple types of each item. It's definitely a good option if you are shopping for school.

I know a week ago our Costco ran out of water and TP. People that saw TP in stock said they didn’t see anyone buy multiple packs even though there were no signs limiting purchases. I don’t know if I will ever not be able to not stay stocked up on paper goods again lol. Of course we now have several years worth after inheriting my FILs stash. After more than 6 months we have barely put a dent in it snd we are three people to his one. I’m glad I read the responses on here as I didn’t know that Costco is open earlier now. I just checked snd ours is now open at 9 on MWF . I think I may try for a quick trip on Monday.

If Delta is scaring people, then good! It's about time people started walking up to the reality that this variant is more contagious and spreads faster than any other. Hand sanitizer, wipes and make will only protect people so much. Stock up but go get vaccinated too.

My district starts back with kids on Monday. They just sent out notification that anyone on campus - regardless of vaccination status - needs to wear a mask any time they are indoors with another person.
I think that some people are just looking ahead and thinking that it will be the same issues this time as last time. I would like to think things have changed a bit, but I have a feeling there will be new things that end up running low. Nobody predicted the TP shortage the first time around, there will be some other new item that can't be found - no idea what it will be, though!

My guess with the Clorox wipes is back to school supply lists. I just got the list for DS13 and they are on the like any other normal year.
I have the wipes on a list on the Sam's website and today when I went to put something from that list into my cart I noticed the wipes were sold out--they hadn't been every other time I looked at that list this summer. Thankfully I still have a box with several packs that I bought from Amazon this winter for his school but never sent as I'll be sending those in next month. I'm sure parents are buying more than the requested amount if possible--I know I bought some whenever I saw them last year trying to do everything possible to keep everyone in the school safe so that they could stay open (and they did all year!)

The peas advanced warnings saved my behind last year Food in our case, as we already kept paper goods, cleaning, and hygiene supplies stocked so we were lucky in that regard. But if we didn’t have the warnings about what to expect, especially from our overseas and Seattle area peas, DH and I would have been stuck with only food for the rest of that week and maybe a package of tuna and bag of frozen corn…literally. We did our shopping week to week and mostly don’t eat pantry or frozen food. Now we have a fully stocked freezer in the garage, a box of shelf-stable emergency food, a sick box with those types of foods, drinks, disposable everything, and actual food in our pantry. So I definitely get where you’re coming from Scrapper100.

I went to Walmart today at lunch time. It was busy, but the shelves were fully stocked with TP, Clorox Wipes, etc. And I didn’t really see too many people in those aisles. So, if there is any panic buying going on, I don’t think it has hit this area yet.

Plan to be there about 20 minutes or so before they open so you can get your choice of parking spots. Read a book in the car until they open. Then get your stuff, go through the self-checkout if you can, and get out. I discovered this strategy during the pandemic and I don't plan ever to change it. SO much less stress.

We went to Costco last night for a regular quick run. I was shocked to see that five pack of wipes was on sale and there was some still on the shelf!

I have a stash of 600-ish face masks that were selling as low as $1 for a box of 50 earlier this summer. I will share with family if needed.
A few weeks ago, I bought TP for me for the first time since Feb 2020, I think. I already had a stash because that’s just the way I roll and partly because I always think, “hmm, I should pick up TP” on my quarterly trip to Costco since I never remember how much I have. I didn’t exactly need it then, but I had heard numbers were starting to tick up again and thought it was time to prepare for the worst.

So panic buying me just bought 2 packs of paper towels and a large pack of toilet paper, plus 2, Clorox, 2 Lysol in the brown bottle, and Lysol cleaning spray. Just because of this thread.
Ever since covid started I have been hoard buying the one fricking flavor of cat food that my cat will eat. I buy all that is on the shelf at one time. My cat will actually starve himself if he doesn’t get the right food.

I don’t think I was paying attention the first time I ordered and it took us 3 years to go through them We also typically have a huge TP stash, just due to the amount saved with bulk ordering. And PT to last a year. So we were well set for these items last year and were able to share. Clorox wipes too. eta: btw if the masks you got were N95s, there is a site you can check to see if they’re certified. Lemme know if you need it and I’ll unearth it for you.

I’ve always done that lol. Pre-Covid they used to open about 15 minutes early so I could grab and be out by 10. After Covid they had senior hours so didn’t do that. I’ve gotten spoiled by Sams club that opens at 8 but used to open at 7. I hate crowds and our store is always crowded. We are getting another store which was supposed to be open before Covid but ran into construction problems and we will be lucky if it opens by 2023 instead of 2020.

There are two more aspects to consider as well: cleaning surfaces is part of the regular medical environment routine/sterilisation and the official guidelines to fight off coronavirus still include regularly washing hands (meaning the official guidelines don't comply with a 100% airborne status for this virus). My friends went to the movies tonight. I declined. This is the current text thread: THEM: The movie theater is really empty. We’re practically the only ones here. ME: Great! I just don’t know how to predict crowds. Just my luck I would show up to a full house. THEM: They have signs up that they clean the bathrooms every two hours and clean the seats between every film showing. ME BY TEXT: Good to know. (ME IN MY MIND): “Covid theatre” at the theatre.

That’s great that they do that cleaning. But I’d want to know how well and often the air is filtered in the space, and how big the crowd before my showing was.

DH went to costco today... he said nothing seemed off. He bought TP without checking... we now have 2 UNOPENED costco packs of TP. We do need paper towels next week (he remembered to get the wrong thing). He even remembered my laundry detergent. The man does love me! I'm betting that parents were buying for teachers/students/etc. At my site, we're not allowed to have wipes in our rooms unless we've taken the "training" provided through our insurance carrier. Yes, 90 minutes to learn how to use wipes correctly. No thanks. I'll use the provided spray and paper towels. LOL. (Shhh... I do have wipes hidden in my room, we're just not allowed to have them out and in the open if we're not trained.)

We’d go there, get a quick dinner from their food court then shop. We could get through there in record time doing it that way, and the bonus was that nobody had to make dinner or do dishes!

Geez, that’ll have a big impact, can you imagine not having EVOO to cook with? I already had one in my grocery cart order so I just added another and will make sure to keep on top of it jic. We have half a shelf of extras and always keep 1 extra EVOO on hand, easy enough to just add one to that. Thank you!
