what are calming jars? 150 of anything is quite a task. They are jars you fill with a little bit of glycerin and water, than you add glitter, sequins, etc. When you shake them gently, the glycerin causes the glitter and stuff inside to slowly settle to the bottom. Kind of like a snow globe. That absolutely sounds calming! I have a wee kaleidoscope that has a tube that is filled with what seems to be the same stuff as your calming jars. You just flip the tube over and it's a different show each time. And I use it to settle down when anxiety jumps me.

jeremysgirl A housekeeper (imagine I’m actually squeezing, cause I am lol). So excited for you to have someone to take things off your plate. Here’s to filling it with things that make you smile! lainey and RedSquirrelUK I hope you are both doing better quickly. Tom is adorable and I have a friend who has a low-grade crush on him. I told her we needed to have an age rule, something about if they’re born after we got married (26 yrs this year for both of us) they’re probably too young. But she rejected that idea Anyway, I have taken my knitting in public and gotten the strangest looks. But if you’re just sitting there I’d rather do that than waste time playing around on my phone! My goals for this month are to finish assembling my Christmas cards that I started an embarrassing number of years ago, and to get them addressed. Too often I don’t finish my cards and push them back to the next year (and the next, and the next). But this year, since my entire house is decluttered I am down to a lot of projects to tackle. I am concentrating on them and determined to make a huge dent. Most aren’t craft projects, because I am okay having a section in my closet of craft projects to look forward to. But certain ones not being finished make me twitchy. I already addressed my Valentines cards, that’s all that was missing because I finished them ages ago. Even have the stamps on them. Feels great, and soon I’ll have these to add to my bulk ready to mail out cards box!

This isn’t neon orange but it’s sent with birthday wishes lainey! Happy August everyone! I’ll be back with what I’m up to in a day or so. So pleased you’ve got to see the great Tom Daley! He crochets as well as knits. Love that man and all he stands for.

Last month I was mostly sewing felt plushies for my kids’ sewing classes, but last week I made another Luna Lapin rabbit with a summer patchwork dress and embroidered denim jacket. My mom loves them and it’s her 80th at the end of the month. I also have a highland cow made but I’m having trouble with his kilt! I also finally made the H2O To Go bag. I bought the pattern from Etsy in December but didn’t have any waterproof fabric for the inside. It’s great because it fits a giant water bottle in the main compartment and has a zipper pocket on the front for phone, etc. I love it for daily dog walks in the heat. I’m also lucky enough to have a cleaner come once a week. She doesn’t clean my sewing room though. I tidy the house the evening before she arrives and it’s just extra pressure to tidy to sewing room as i often have projects all over the place. Also, I never have monthly goals for my creative projects, unless it’s for a gift and needs to be completed by a specific date. I just do whatever I feel like doing, whether it’s painting, sketching, sewing, paper crafts, etc.

muggins I love how on trend your new bunny is with her tiered dress and denim jacket! That water bottle bag is awesome. Guess I'll have to go cruise about etsy and see if I can find the pattern.

jeremysgirl said "My biggest news is that I've hired a house cleaner. She will be over tomorrow for the first time. And while I'm not having her do anything in the craft room, I feel a bit like if my house is going to be clean that maybe I ought to organize my craft room too. So that's on my agenda for this month."
Hope your cleaner makes life better for you - this was one of the best things I ever did when I was working full time and have had a cleaner since I retired as well.
I feel no guilt having her come and look forward to our home being cleaner and smelling lovely.

muggins I don't suppose you have the name of the manufacturer/designer of that black and white fabric do you? It looks very like some scrapbooking stiffened fabric I bought years ago and I'm just wondering if it could be the same designer. I think the name was Michael someone, maybe Michael Morris? If I can get at it I'll dig out what I have of his to see but I thought you might just know?? ETA - I've remembered! It was Michael Miller. Is your fabric designed by him?

Thank you for your good wishes, my dear girl. Tomorrow marks my halfway point! Provided it doesn't get delayed again, that is. My liver showed a bit of damage at the last blood few tests so the first dose of drug cocktail #2, which was last Monday, was administered at 75% strength. I spiked a fever indicating another underlying infection (no idea where, because the chemo masks symptoms) on Thursday so they put me back on antibiotics again. My temperature is normal today for the first time, so that's good. The feak'n'weeble feeling will go soon. This whole thing isn't being easy! But it's a temporary inconvenience for long-term gain. I'm glad you got the positive sign of not having a temperature. I'm keeping you in my prayers. My crafting goal this month is to pick up crochet again. I’m a couple of weeks out from carpal tunnel surgery and feeling really good so I think I’m going to give it a try tonight. I’m feeling discouraged the last couple of weeks with pandemic fatigue and I could use the stress relief! Isn't it amazing how stress relieving yarn crafts are? I liked the Tom Daly article where he said yarn crafts were part of his mindfulness practice. It totally is for me too.

I know, I'm pretty thrilled about it. I know I've posted here about my struggles with keeping up my house. The fact that my husband wasn't picking up the slack when I was feeling down. It took me a good long time to come to this decision. It was my BFF who finally pushed me over the hang ups I had about it. Jeremy was like, I don't care about the state of the house, but I know you do and I think this will be good for your mental health. And you'll stop nagging me. LOL! My sock so far, I really like that the pattern on the front and back is different, it's fun to knit. I am sorry to hear about the difficulties you've experienced with your shot. Belated birthday wishes. And I love the pattern on your sock.

You would tip them over and the sand would slowly settle through liquid and make a different pattern each time. They were quite mesmerising.

muggins I love how on trend your new bunny is with her tiered dress and denim jacket! I’m reading the thread backwards and you should have seen my face. I need more sleep because I legit thought she put a denim jacket on a bunny rabbit jeremysgirl Yes, I remember your struggles that’s why I am extra happy for you! Don’t feel guilt on this, not one iota. I personally feel there’s no shame in hiring someone to clean no matter how much time they have free anyway, but girl you do so much for your family and work full time!

My ex-bil made me an ocean bottle that had blue liquid in it that you turned over and it frothed about in a way that made it look like ocean waves crashing.

RedSquirrelUK, you have a great attitude and you will be in my thoughts. jeremysgirl , good for you for hiring a housekeeper. Great self care! This month I want to participate. I have been practicing knitting and now I need to hunker down w/a beginner's project and knit something.

Thank you scrapmaven. And ditto. Ladies, a Ravelry question. Is there a knack to using their search feature? I've spent half of today going round in circles trying to re-find things that I found once, but don't show up in the search engine. For example, I found several yarns and made a note of the makes/numbers etc. but when I come to search for them using the exact same criteria, they show as No Results Found. The same happens with patterns. I find a project which links to a pattern but I can only get to the pattern from that project, not by searching for it. All I'm trying to do is to find an acrylic yarn I love, then reviews and washing instructions, and finally where to find it to buy it. It shouldn't be this difficult!

This isn't fancy like the wool works everyone else posts but I thought I'd share my little baby blanket anyway. I like to have something to do while I watch tv with dh in the evening and more often than not, I would be binding a quilt, but I have lost my quilting mojo so I decided to pull out a crochet hook and some yarn. It's been quite a few years since I did anything with wool and I am quite happy I started again. I am just making pretty basic things for now - makes it easy to keep up with Barnaby on Midsomer Murders, lol.

I'm in that group and I forgot all about it. I need to dive into some more Ravelry rabbit holes and find out what can be done with it. rgibson - that's so pretty! Those small makes are very satisfying, aren't they? It looks like the So Crafty chunky chenille that I've bought from Aldi before.

This is lovely, which yarn did you use? Thank you! It's Bernat Baby Blanket yarn, one of those chunky soft yarns that make up quite quickly. rgibson - that's so pretty! Thank you! It does look delicate but it's quite substantial due to the chunky yarn.
