Happy August Chinagirl828, gramma, Linda, AussieMeg, jeremysgirl, joblackford, kellyr21, justjac, and sleepingbooty! Holy Batman where has this summer/year gone?! It's flying by so fast. If you haven't already, set a/some challenges - something you plan to do anyway for alllll the points I haven't scrapped a page since April, so I really hope to change that this month. I see Linda is crafty right out of the gate! Way to start us off! Here's to a fun, creative end to summer!

Happy August everyone!
I was fortunate that a) DH and DD14 went out of town for the day (Lego store for the win!) and b) weather wasn't conducive to outdoor work so I got to scrap all day! Next two weeks are looking just as wet as all of June and July so I should get more scrappy time. I am very tired of rain though. Poor dd14 had ONE thing she wanted to do this summer - go swimming at the springs...and it has rained and rained and rained to the point that the springs have been closed for a while now because of flooding.
I did set a couple of challenges and I'll put on my thinking cap and try and come up with some more.

Hi team! I've just added my challenges - I decided to go with an Olympic theme this month. Linda you were very quick off the mark with your points this month - Gold medal for you!

Thanks AussieMeg - hopefully I can keep it up for the month. I met my yearly goal (1 layout/day) early so I've re-set my ticker to a new goaL

Hello team! I have a busy couple of weeks coming up but I'm hoping to take some time to make pages in the middle of it all.

We had a doggo visitor for the second half of July so I found it a little challenging to get into a routine doing all the things I normally do around walks and her interruptions. She's gone home now, but it turns out she's coming back for the second half of August too. That gives me a bit of a push to get work done in the first half, but it also might push us to do another mini road trip while we're pet free. We'll see.
The smoke has also started to creep in from the Bootleg fire down in Oregon, reminding me that August can become wildfire shut-in season... so who knows?
My SIL just asked for more birthday cards because she used up all the ones I sent her in June, so that will be a good kick start to the month. And I figured out how to make a mini slimline envelope from printer paper, so I might make some of them. And I'm almost done with my Christmas blurb book.
But first, calculate last month's points!!

I'm taking 74 points for craft room clean up in the organization challenge. For before and after photos check out that thread.

Well AussieMeg and I are back in lockdown for 7 days starting last night, so I guess the busy couple of weeks I thought I had are suddenly a lot less buy.
Does anyone have crafty plans for the weekend?

LOL, I was just coming back here to ask whether you still had a busy couple of weeks! I'm actually looking forward to having a weekend at home doing nothing much of anything except scrapping.

Does anyone have crafty plans for the weekend? Yes, Jeremy is out of town and I decided not to go with him. I planned an entire weekend of scrapbooking.

At this point we're just hoping we'll be back out for my DH's birthday which is next weekend as we had plans to go to his favourite restaurant. We've had a bad run as every time we've had it booked since covid started we've gone into another lockdown.

Which restaurant are you planning to go to? (Understand if you don't want to say.)

Oh No! I'm sorry AussieMeg and Chinagirl828 about your lock down. Sounds like a good weekend to scrap! I hope you get out in time for your DH birthday! Linda enjoy the new supplies! Your weekend sounds wonderful jeremysgirl . Hey gramma and kellyr21 joblackford, how are things going out West? I hope you all stay safe! I've still been crazy busy at work, so no layouts yet. I'm hoping to sneak in some time tomorrow to print some photos and maybe a tiny bit to scrap. It's been so long that it's getting ridiculous!

We're doing fine up here, although I'm not sure which bad news you might be asking about... or maybe there is no bad news? just normal life? But yes, I think we're pretty good. We even had some light rain this morning! It was delightful. We'd had some high level smoke for the past week. I forgave the horrible humidity because it was cool this morning. There was a threatening teaser on the news talking about when the smoke would blow in but I'm hoping that was just clickbait or referring to the smoke we're already getting from the Bootleg Fire. Not looking forward to red sun season but at least we already have masks and it's normal to wear them.
Tomorrow I'm delivering a few of my handmade cards to a local family whose son has a brain tumor who wants to send cards to other kids with brain tumors.

Which restaurant are you planning to go to? Sette Bello. It's in Mulgrave, basically opposite Brandon Park shopping centre.

It's right next door to where I worked for many years, when I worked for Telstra. If you're standing out the front facing the restaurant, Telstra was on the right. The restaurant wasn't there then. I might suggest it next time I'm catching up with my friends from high school. We usually eat somewhere around that area. I asked which one because I wondered whether it was one of the restaurants at Pinewood.

Good Morning! joblackford that's good you aren't near the fire. I feel so bad for that family. Your cards will definitely help. My little window of time I thought I had this weekend was smashed to smithereens with an almost 7yo here or the night lol. Lots of junk food being eaten and movies. And we made a paper chain for him to count down the days until his birthday (44) lol. Man I had no mojo for several months and now I want to scrap so bad and there isn't ever anytime! I'm not sure what today will bring lol.

Man I had no mojo for several months and now I want to scrap so bad and there isn't ever anytime! That's me - I don't want to garden when the weather is ideal but when it turns to crap I have all the ideas and motivation, what a shame I can't do it, same with lots of crafting, at least some of the time. Maybe when I'm feeling overwhelmed and stressed? I haven't figured out if it's a psychological resistance thing, a fear of -something- or what. Maybe just being contrary, lol. I felt bad about the mom of the kid with a brain tumor - I had been interacting with her on Buy Nothing and feeling frustrated that she would claim items I was giving away and then not pick them up promptly or wouldn't communicate well. Last week she claimed some curtain rings and when I messaged her about picking up she just said "ok soon, in neurosurgery now" - I figured she must have something going on, but I had no idea her son had cancer until she asked for cards and stickers for him. Just a good reminder that we don't know what people are dealing with... anyway, I was glad I had some things to give. We have a few cool days before the heat and smoke haze come back Going to test out a pedalboat my FIL was given to sell (eye roll). Looking forward to a nice afternoon by the bay, and who knows, if it doesn't leak too badly I might go in it too. We're bringing a change of clothes in case it sinks! Hi Linda, how are things in Florida?

((((Hugs)))) joyfulnana - I hope time and mojo line up soon for you joblackford - you're so sweet to share cards with that family. Such a sad situation. Florida is still rainy, sigh. Covid numbers keep hitting new highs and our governor keeps reaching for new lows. Dh is looking for a new kitten - Dusty (12 weeks) needs a playmate as our other cats are 11, 11, 11.5, and 18ish and not really very playful anymore.

Do you normally get a lot of rain this time of year? We were so excited to break a 50-ish day dry streak on Friday - it barely rained, but better than nothing! http://instagram.com/p/CSPO-P1lOQB

Do you normally get a lot of rain this time of year? July is typically our rainest month but that usually means about just shy of 5" for the month...we got about 13". June had 20+" and we're already at 8" for August...so yes, but NOT like this year. gorgeous photo!

We're bringing a change of clothes in case it sinks! You'll have to report back on whether it sank or was safe, I haven't been a pedal boat for years! Gorgeous photo too! It's a big age gap between cats although I fear for your older cats' sanity with two youngsters in the house.

Seattle area gets about an inch if we're lucky in July and August! We have a reputation for wet, but more accurately we have gloomy weather... Chinagirl828 the boat did not sink! It didn't even leak. It was pretty fun even though we were in a bay on the Sound instead of on a peaceful lake like it was intended for. And my hubby found a buyer for it literally within 5 minutes this morning... assuming the guy shows up and doesn't change his mind about what he's willing to pay.

I simply cannot get myself to my craft room. I've done one layout this month. And that is only because I signed up for Sketchtember. One! I don't want to touch the paper. I don't want to touch the glue. Enamel dots? Ewwww!! Pictures? Nooooooo! Three of my sketches might be just that - sketches!
Anyone else get into a hole like this? I don't like it!
