I would also add that in a lot of places Republicans in general are getting in the way by fighting masks wearing and other measures meant keep people safe.

I am in one of those governor led states. I saw a news break thing just this morning that our governor wished he hadn't signed the mask mandate law into action. It made it so no local city or county could mandate any masks usage. Now that we have been one of the states with huge surges in this, now TODAY he wished he hadn't done that. well, boo hoo Asa, come to the memorial service this afternoon for a friend and say that. Come hug my dear friend that lost her mom on Sunday. I have too many sick and that have passed just in the last 2 weeks to give a flying fig about his "I'm sorries"...

Yeah my friend's daughter was supposed to start college in your neighboring state which is also insane right now and running out of hospital space. She's gapping and is probably going to use the year to apply elsewhere as the reality of how politics is affecting health and welfare in these states is hitting home in a very big way. |

Do you know what I really wish? I wish all Americans could come together for this issue that personally affects each and every one of us and work together to get it under control or eradicated. I don't direct this to any of you here, I mean this for our leaders and those that refuse to see just how big an issue it really is. It's not just the flu. Leave the politics out of it, because Covid sure the hell doesn't care if you're a Republican or a Democrat. Sorry, I never wade into these types of threads, but I just lost a close friend. A fully vaccinated friend and I'm horribly sad about this.  |

I wish our governor would. He basically threatened any school system who made a mask mandate or shut down.
Meanwhile, a local school system started on Monday. No mask mandate. They made it two days. Masks are mandatory today.
