I got my kit yesterday and inspected everything. I really like it and I'm even more excited for December. I got the main kit, the star kit, plastic frames and extra paper with some other stuff I can't remember off the top of my head. I like the paper a lot. The color scheme is more up my alley with traditional colors that are more muted than in your face Christmas-y. After seeing everything IRL I'll definitely be doing product play because I want to use EVERYTHING. Having new ideas will help that since I can definitely see myself gravitating towards my usual faves and leaving things behind. Glad you are happy with it and there are no errors for you!

You guys are killing me!!!! I have not had an advent calendar since I was a kid. But I soooo want a tea one!! I originally got my first tea advent Calendar the year after my sister died. ( not the first Christmas after but the next year ) So my remaining sister & I could have a cup of tea “with” each other each day in December even though we are an hour & a half apart. Then a couple of years ago I added in my kids because we were also apart. It was so we could all be having the same new tea each day and chat about it on the phone or via text. It’s becoming quite the tradition. I added my nieces this year. It gives a feeling of connecting on something each day. What an amazing idea!!!

I got my DD package yesterday. I love the 10x8 album and I’m excited to try a new format this year. I also got the black journal. The pages are perforated so I can just take a page out and add it to my album. It should last several years.

FWIW, I've really enjoyed opening up the AE sticker advent calendar so far. Aside from the first sticker, I find them all very useful and usable. The first sticker could even be ok to make a filler card of some kind.
I haven't watched the spoiler video, lol. So don't spoil things for me.

I'm going to start opening mine early too. I might need something for the DD! I haven't decided when I'll start yet. Gotta get my box first. Can't wait.

The journaling on the picture of her and Aaron on the couch? Yeah. Rough day to document. I read that post. Slept on it and this AM my head is going batsh*t crazy......so I'm going to reign in my imagination and limit this just to a DD discussion. If AE was no longer doing DD would I continue. I think I'd probably do it for a few years and then maybe documenting December would become a few pages in my album. As much as I hate how big the release has become, I definitely enjoy the run-up, the ordering day, this thread, the posts on IG and Ali's blog. My #1 gripe about other designers, is how hard I have to look to find posts from their DT's. I really like how Ali has it together and I especially like Lisa Varshine's in case you missed it posts.

I was searching for a calendar and found this site. I am going to see if I can make this work for 6X8 and will get back to you. www.saturdaygift.com/printable-december-calendar/I read that post. I wouldn't be doing a December Daily if it weren't for Ali and I will keep doing them until I'm bored of it, I guess. I'm so grateful to her and really hope nothing is wrong. I mean, are Ben and Jerry still in the kitchen making ice cream? No. They started small and are now huge. That's hard work paying off and I don't fault anyone for it. You get to step back and hire out. I think some of the products are expensive but that's just everything these days. You can absolutely do a December Daily on a shoestring budget but she started it all.

I got my DD shipping notice on the 14th, but the number isn't even in UPS' system yet (my SBTM at least shows a label has been creates, but it hasn't moved). I'm not too concerned because I only ordered a few things, but its still frustrating.

I haven't heard anything back yet.

Anyone doing the Canva class? Thoughts?
I have PSE, so I’m not sure if I need to add this into the mix. My PSE skills are limited to what I have taught myself though.

Have you watched any of Pam Baldwins YouTube videos for done be december? I'm like you, I'm self taught and I'm learning some really good PSE tips.

More craziness in terms of my DD order. It took 3 days for it to fly 17,386 km from Kentucky via Hawaii and Sydney to Auckland. It then sat in Auckland for 5 days and was just delivered on the afternoon of what for us is 20 October. So 5 days to travel the last 40km

Take this with a grain of salt because I’m a lover of stars. I really like it! There are enough stars in different styles and textures that you would have plenty to generously embellish the whole album. My plan with them is to use stars throughout my album as my theme for this December and my idea will work perfectly with the mini kit.

So I'm thinking of a different approach to my DD. I was telling my mom about wanting to make up cards for each Christmas movie I watch this year (Hallmark, Lifetime, Up tv, GAC Family, and Disney+). Since a ton of them start before December, I was thinking about how to organize my album. I then remembered the class offered at CKU ages ago called "Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life." I never took the class, but looked into it. I could arrange my entries alphabetically, and cross reference (for example, movies would reference all of the individual channels, music might link to Pentatonix and church concerts, etc). It would mean I'd have to do everything in the New Year as far as arranging it all, but I would work on the components throughout the season.
Thoughts?

I, too, like all of the different textures…but I don’t feel like I got my money’s worth. But that’s the only part I don’t like. That’s on me, though, given that everything is pictured, ha.

A lot of work for sure but get into your workflow and keep up a kind of system and you'll end up with a masterpiece. It's personal projects like this that I cherish long after the events are over and done.

I was shopping at our local upcycling art/craft supplies store yesterday and one of the volunteers struck up a conversation. She teaches junk journaling classes there from time to time. She saw me dig through a stack of paper to find some vintage Christmas carol booklets and it led to me telling her about DD and suggesting that it might make a good class. I’m always surprised when crafty people haven’t heard of the project because I feel like it’s grown way beyond AE (to be fair, JYC grew way beyond Shimelle too!) I’m excited about the possibility of exposing more people to the fun and maybe even getting to help curate some kits too!

I am on the fence. I have all Adobe products but am not the most skilled at using them. Canva seems simplistic and I have so many digitals I never use.

Every new day I open an envelope from the sticker advent calendar, I feel more and more pleased with the value, haha. Day 5 was pretty great. Spoiler alert below about the Day 5 envelope. Day 5 was a full 4x6 sheet of 26 puffy hearts that almost had an epoxy feel and a gold foil outline.
