Some of them have lost their minds. In an effort to get attention, they are ramping up the crazy. Marjorie Taylor Greene suggested people in Alabama should greet anyone coming to their house with vaccine information with the barrel of a gun. She needs to be censured already. www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/08/marjorie-taylor-greene-second-amendment“Well, Joe Biden wants to come talk to you guys. He's going to be sending one of his police state friends to your front door to knock on the door, take down your name, your address, your family members’ names, your phone numbers, your cellphone numbers, probably ask for your Social Security number, and whether you’ve taken the vaccine or not. What they don’t know is in the South, we all love our Second Amendment rights, and we’re not real big on strangers showing up on our front door, are we? They might not like the welcome they get.” So much misinformation in that quote, I don’t even know where to start.

And Rand Paul - he said they can’t arrest all of us and children are not at risk from covid. Scary www.paul.senate.gov/fox-news-op-ed-sen-rand-paul-mask-mandates-and-lockdowns-petty-tyrants-no-not-again-choose-freedomThey can’t arrest us all. They can’t keep all your kids home from school. They can’t keep every government building closed – although I’ve got a long list of ones they should. We don’t have to accept the mandates, lockdowns, and harmful policies of the petty tyrants and feckless bureaucrats. We can simply say no, not again. Local bureaucrats and union bosses — we will not allow you to do more harm to our children again this year. Children are not at any more risk from COVID than they are for the seasonal flu. Every adult who works in schools has either had the vaccine or had their chance to. There is no reason for mask mandates, part time schools, or any lockdown measures.

I think MTG has had covid, maybe Paul? For a while, he kept talking about how he had natural immunity because he had covid. The cowardice and hypocrisy of these Trump Republicans who get the vaccine but then tell supporters - I support your freedom and choice etc. - is unbelievable. I’m betting that a lot of the 100 Republicans in the House who refuse to disclose their status have had the vaccine.

Well, at least he’s doing something. The antibody infusion treatment seems to be effective at preventing severe illness, maybe more in those already vaccinated? Abbott is still a jackass though. Sorry for those of you who live in Texas. DeSantis on the other hand, is just sabotaging his state’s efforts and actively trying to prevent cruise lines and school boards from taking precautionary measures. Even if Florida needed help, I doubt his ego or presidential aspirations would allow him to ask the Biden administration for help.

And then there is this…
From CNN…
“Twitter (TWTR) has suspended Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's account for one week following another violation of the platform's rules, the company said Tuesday.
Greene tweeted on Monday that the Food and Drug Administration "should not approve the covid vaccines." She also claimed the vaccines were "failing" and that they were ineffective at reducing the virus's spread.“

I’m sure we’ll hear about how Twitter is censoring her, but I’m glad they suspended her. Too bad it’s not permanently. The gall to claim that the vaccines are ineffective to blame the Biden administration for something developed during Trumps presidency. Not that either one of them had a lot to do with the development, but the Republicans sure like to take credit and at the same time unfairly blame a Democratic administration. Not to mention the misinformation in the middle of a surge in delta.

Abbott wants help, it seems. Still not repealing his order on masking though. 🙄 Maybe I’m missing something but I’m not sure how bringing in additional outside hospital staff or increasing therapeutics will ‘stop the spread.’ By the time people need those services they already have Covid and have very likely spread it. ETA: I’m also not clear on how stopping elective procedures stops the spread.

Wow, what happened to that ‘famed’ southern hospitality? 🙄 Yeah, it’s a good idea to shoot people for asking you if you want a vaccine, just say ‘no thank you’ and move on there no need for violence and I’m sure it’ll be some sort of health care worker not police 🤷♀️

Sure kill the rest. CNN had a young man on this morning who had been scheduled for surgery on Aug 4th to remove very suspicious/cancerous lymph nodes in his neck. His surgery has been put off until the 18th. No guarantee it will be on. He says he can feel that the lymph nodes are getting bigger... This may well be his life at stake. I hope someone somewhere invites him to a hospital outside of Texas now.

What a shame that he’s more interested in kissing the behinds of Trump and his base than in protecting the citizens of Texas. I’m still waiting to hear if he’s managed to solve the grid issues. So far, crickets.

The media needs to stop calling them "elective surgeries" (even though that may be the term hospitals use, and might even be the technically appropriate term) and start saying "non-emergency surgeries" so people quit thinking it's all boob jobs and tummy tucks that are being postponed. Some of that "elective" stuff is real important and not just a "nice to have" sort of thing!

Yeah, big middle finger to all the folks who say that unions used to be necessary, but “we don’t need them any more because their work is done.” Texas is exhibit A for what happens to workers without union protection.

I knew it was a lot more than boobs jobs and tummy tucks, but I didn’t think that things like the thyroid surgery would be put off. I guess that makes sense s it is elective, I just somehow didn’t make that connection. That’s…a lot. Wow.

Then those supplies/equipment/PPE are not being used in elective surgeries. It won’t stop the spread except it will keep some people out of the hospital for elective surgeries where they might possibly come in contact with a covid person I guess.
