Ugh...I'm sorry.
I was surprised at the Crop and Create one that the Lawn Fawn stamp set was an older one (Coaster Critters). Wonder if that's just how they do it?

That's disappointing. I would have wanted to know if the projects would be all Halloween themed - I love Halloween but making one Halloween project is more than plenty. I also would not want to get older sets, that would be a major bummer.
I hope the 4 day event is fun, at least.
I think I'd like to sign up for a virtual card making class but they're all just so expensive that I have a hard time pulling the trigger.

Me too about it being an older lawn Fawn set at that event. They promised for this upcoming October event it would be an exclusive set. The concord and 9th event was amazing and all brand new exclusive contents from their box.

I'm sorry to hear that. There isn't a lot of information on their site about what's included, so I'd be disappointed it's mostly Halloween themed. Are they not allowing returns/refunds prior to the event?

Nope no refunds or exchanges. I tried to cancel the day after I bought it before I was even in the Facebook group and they said nope.

That’s a bummer. I hate being disappointed when it’s that expensive.
I signed up for the Crop and Creat event in October and one of the reasons was because it said the companies were creating exclusive products. I really hope I’m not disappointed once the box arrives.

I'm so sorry you're disappointed. That would disappoint me too. That's why I never sign up for a class/event unless I know exactly what I'm paying for. Maybe you can get a refund. I hope it works out for you.

Ugh. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but in defense of you, how would you have known supplies would be skimpy and mostly one-note/Halloween?
I also attended the C&9th camp and was so impressed with the packed full box that even included yet-to-be released and exclusive products, class content, and the humorous and poignant parts. I guessed before registering that a lot might not be my style, but value and quality was there and it was a fun virtual getaway - especially since some of us haven’t gotten away IRL for well over a year. So if the other events you attended were all worth it, your expectations made sense.
I’d guess most of us have spent money on things we later regretted, not just for crafting. (Thinking of the multiple SUV-loads of unused crafting supplies that were donated.)

Ouch. That is a lot of outlay for Halloween stuff. I feel like if it was that specific/themed they should have told people that.

I'm sorry. I think even though you can't cancel you should let them know your disappointment. And who knows? Maybe you'll learn some fun techniques that you can use on other cards? I hope so!

Is there anyway you can sell to someone else who might be all about Halloween and missed getting in? Maybe post in the group that you’ll sell your box?

Aw man, that sucks. I see they're sold out 💰. 💰 On the class description page it says "Your package will include materials for all classes & make/take sessions. We have carefully curated materials (some exclusive firsts) for this event and packed them into convenient kits for each class." so I guess that's truthful... but I'd be really annoyed if a bunch of the products were older ones that I might already own. And there's definitely NOTHING on the page suggesting that there will be a Halloween focus.
I really hope the classes are a lot of fun and that you can recoup some of the cost by selling the products you'll never use.

Thanks everyone. No way to sell it as it’s a private Facebook group that you have to be in for the classes. I’ll make the best of it. But from now on only jenn Shurkus, Taylored expressions, and concord snd 9th for me’

Sorry to hear this. I was a little tempted, but it sold out by the time I checked it.
I participated in the C&9 summer camp and I loved it. And getting excited for the crop and create card classes in October.
I saw that Spellbinders has one coming up but I think I will skip that, they are doing sneak peeks so I might change my mind 😊.
Lots of companies are doing these virtual classes and hard to know which ones are worth it. I love C&9 products thats why I wanted to do the summer camp and the crop and create because lots of Peas done it and loved it.
I will stick to companies I know and love their products.

When I taught at the LSS, we had to show our projects ahead of time. I find it weird that they keep it such a secret. To me, that would be a red flag, not an enticement. I don’t have money to spend on classes anyway, right now, but if I did, I’d want a really good idea as to what I’d be getting for my money. And I agree that their including old product would be upsetting.

I loved the C&9th camp too, partly because of the many unexpected parts - it was much more than classes. The camp director (Greg, C&9th owner) emceed while wearing goofy camp clothes, held contests between counselors (instructors), showed videos with him “camping” with his victim (Jennifer McGuire), and there were games and even poignant aspects as counselors talked about their backgrounds or family history. The supply box was packed full, included large, exclusive stamp and die sets plus liquid water colors they hadn’t come out with. Each counselor designed a die for their cabin that we were assigned to. Also, Greg could be in a sit-com. But someone not into the campy camp experience would have had all the classes to enjoy, and while I figured some classes/products wouldn’t be my cuppa, there was so much planned that there was always something coming up that was enjoyable. This felt like going away but at home. They raised the bar really high, for me, anyway.

So sorry this happened to you. I attended a Brutus Monroe kit class a couple of years ago and was very disappointed. From the organization of the event, to the teaching techniques, to the products received. I stopped participating with Brutus Monroe as a customer after that.
I have been doing mini classes with the event organizers who have been doing weekend events since COVID shut the shows down last year. The vendors there have all shown their projects and been very clear on what is in the kit. I have only been disappointed a few times and mainly due to the short amount of time some of the vendors had to tech in and they bit off a bit more than they could chew, thinking they could get it done. But it was a learning curve for all of us. Kraftin Kimmie put on a great multi day retreat last year, I think product and instruction was worth what I paid. I factor in the instruction time heavily when it comes to how much I will spend on an event. Since I don't have any events nearby or any crafty friends near I consider part of the money spent on classes as entertainment and socialization opportunity.

I’m sorry, how disappointing! I think I’d have a hard time signing up for a class without knowing at least the theme. I haven’t done a digital one, but for the conventions there were only a few classes that didn’t show you the finished product samples so I got spoiled. I hope you’re able to find a solution.

I saw that Spellbinders has one coming up but I think I will skip that, they are doing sneak peeks so I might change my mind 😊. I signed up for the Spellbinders' class in October. I really like what they've been doing lately - their Yana Smakula and Vicky P lines have been fantastic and some of my favourite sets ever. So, I figured this would be a good one to start with - my first ever virtual event. It's all unreleased product so no chance of getting older doubles. I would have loved to do the C&9 camp but I thought it was too expensive - now that I know how worth it it was, I may budget them in for next year. Their products are among my favourites. Crop & Create is another one that has tempted me but I haven't pulled the plug on. I love the way these companies have pivoted and developed a new revenue stream, etc. by doing these online events. I hope they continue to keep doing them going forward, its great for us international folk especially.

I saw an unboxing for the Crop & Create earlier this year and there was a ton in the box. Getting a great box with lots of extras make the virtual event comparative to the in person events. It honestly reminded me of CKU which is why I signed up. CKU was totally worth the money, especially the events in Utah.

I’m a sucker and I love the new virtual card making events. I have done both stamp joys, crop and create, the concord and 9th one, creative crates from firefly farms, and pretty much everything jenn Shurkus has put on. I saw the post from Jennifer McGuire about Brutus Monroe’s virtual retreat. It was spendy over $360 but it is 4 days, snd there were lawn Fawn classes, hero arts, altenew etc. The event is in 2 weeks. Got my box today and I really regret spending the $$. It’s all super well organized but its mostly halloween cards. A Brutus monroe instructor is teaching the lawn Fawn class. The stuff for lawn Fawn is really old product (spider web, mini Halloween stamp set). The stuff from altenew is one 3d embossing folder, a mini stamp, and die. The stuff from Taylored expressions is a small stamp set I definitely won’t use again. Normally I’m fine with the things I get and I don’t need a ton of product. But it’s a lot of mists and sprays and techniques and things I’m not that into as well as all mostly halloween themed from what I can tell. But I spent a lot of $$ on this so I will participate . I just wish I could have my money back instead. My mistake. I will stick with the ones I listed above which I have lived and not branch out. Just bummed. I will hopefully be able to sell a bunch of it when it’s over. Heather For me, Brutus Monroe is a different style base. I tried to get into it, bought a couple things, but ultimately wasn’t my style and stopped following them.

I got it excited because the sneak peak was lawn Fawn class, altenew class Taylored expressions class,, etc. so I figured love those companies it’s not a Brutus monroe event. But ultimately I think this one will be a Brutus event. I learned my lesson one and done :-)

I’m one of those. My current favorite company isn’t attending any conventions in person this year, but they have done the online conventions, and I’ve spent just as much as I would have if I’d gone to convention. In fact, they’ve gotten more of my craft budget than they did when I visited their booth at convention.
