Sigh. I have this debate with myself over and over. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve considered doing online or in person classes or workshops, but I have a really strong practical streak. Being DH’s caregiver, I can’t even be sure I’d have the time to watch the classes, or make time to watch them later. I have projects of my own design still in progress that I need to finish, and not enough time to do them. Most of all, though, that very practical side of me keeps saying that the products I’ve been wanting to buy for months would cost me less than the class. Am I the only one who thinks this way? I wish I had a stronger practical streak, since I can be too impulsive, but lately have moved more toward practicality with classes, anyway, given the many products I have that I haven’t even used. What you’re describing makes complete sense, both because of time, and weighing which would be more fun and satisfying: products you’ve had on your wish list for some time versus a class with mystery products, or even if not a mystery, may or may not measure up to those you know are your style. Inexpensive classes where we can use what we have are out there, if you’re truly hankering for a class. Or maybe classes aren’t really your thing and you get a bit swept along by those who are excited about them. Goodness knows there are thousands of youtube videos and blogs that are mini classes for free. Thank you. It seems there is so much emphasis on how amazing the classes are that sometimes I wonder if I am being too practical. There are lots of wonderful crafters out there, with lots of great ideas and techniques, and as you said, many of them showing their ideas on YouTube for free.

Sounds like fun but I just can't justify the cost. US$250 converts to NZ$364 plus whatever shipping charges - and who knows whether the supplies would actually arrive on time if they ship the kit 3-4 weeks before the event. My last order from the Greetery took nearly 6 weeks to arrive from Iowa.

Is part of the excitement among crafters because of the pandemic - going to an event without leaving home after not going anywhere for so long? That’s not to say there isn’t excellent content and product for some people at some events. But the excitement can create FOMO even if the match isn’t the best. And you can’t always know ahead of time.

Welp, I was totally not interested... but then I watched the Live q&a about it anyway and now I totally want to do it! ugh. Stupid FOMO! But a 3lb box of exclusive won't-be-sold-elsewhere stuff from one of my favorite crafty companies suddenly sounds awesome. I'll double check the date to make sure I will have time and energy before our Thanksgiving travel but I can afford it and my spouse agrees that I should do it if I want to.

I just signed up. I told my wife it can be my birthday present. I don’t really make cards anymore, but I love all Christmas crafting!

I wish I can do this, but a told myself I'm trying out 2 events this year. Maybe next year 😊.
I hope everyone will have lots of fun like we did in the summer camp.

I’m back on the fence even though the reel they shared this morning looked really cute. But I’m remembering that there are a million snowflake dies and merry words and cute wreath shapes out there, these ones are nice but not especially special, and I don’t need anything! I’m not even much of an event joiner. And I just went to an estate sale this morning - it was a good reminder that I really don’t need more things.
