I had to share....I was filling out a security question for a site and one of the questions was "what is your hobby?", naturally I answer "scrapbooking". Then I get an error message that I can't use that term because it is offensive?! I'm like, what?! So I shorten it to scrapbook, nope still no go. So I changed the question. Got me thinking, is there something about this word that I don't know?
Put it in the google and urban dictionary does have a sort of offensive meaning, but it is two words...prepare yourself if easily offended...apparently it means "going out in the early morning to pick up the left over drunk chicks at the bar that haven't gone home with anyone yet." Yikes, that is offensive, but never have I ever heard that!? There were some other meanings that I really don't think anyone actually uses.
I am starting to feel my age as I manage Gen Zers now. Oye!
Has anyone else ever had an error message like this? I would imagine we all use that as a security question from time to time...
Kind of funny because I feel like scrapbooking is made fun of, but maybe we are more edgy than we think.

I've never heard of that usage of the word before! Thankfully though, I don't hang out with people who do that sort of thing. I wonder what kind of message we've been sending out lol

Oh my gosh. I think that is hilarious. Maybe try walkofshame as your hobby and see if that works.

WHAT?! In what universe do people use that word to mean that? omg. Kids these days, lol. But also, how would a website security check pick that one up? It must be something else, surely, because it's not like they can search urban dictionary for everything that might mean something else - can you use bigeggplant as your answer? Maybe the "crap" part of the word is being flagged? I've actually heard people say not to use a real thing as your security answers anyway. Someone could figure out your hobby from social media (especially if you answer those stupid Fbk things that give you your stripper name based on the street you grew up on and your birth month) but if your hobby is blarkblarking or skeddoodleboard there's no chance someone would be able to guess or know that.

Are you sure you did not type in skank-booking?

This is an excellent point a lot of people aren't aware of! My method is choosing a security question that doesn't apply to me, and then putting in a word that is utterly nonsensical as an answer. And that word is one that is meaningful to me in some way, but in an impossible-to-track, inside joke kind of way. And then I use that one word all over the place. A lot safer than putting in my high school mascot!

I am absolutely shocked, shocked, I say, that anyone could associate a bunch of sweet little “old” ladies with such an unsavory practice! I guess it’s a good thing that I call this hobby “paper crafting” these days (I make cards as well as albums). Seriously, though, the point about security questions is a good one. Too bad we have to even be concerned about such things, but I’ve been through identity theft, and I honestly hadn’t thought of that, so I appreciate the reminder.

I love that commercial about online security (not sure which company), and the little kid yells out, "Mom, what's your four hundred and one K password." Makes me crack up.

Maybe it thought you were fibbing.... because clearly "scrapbook supply shopper" should be every scrapbookers answer to that "what is your hobby" question. Oh wait, that would be my answer!

This just made my day! Whoever decided to use that term really didn’t like his mom’s hobby. What a crack up. Thanks for sharing!

Oh yes! I should have given a disclaimer... I don't usually actually answer the questions! I use nonsensical words/made up words and questions that don't actually apply to me, like "who is your younger brother" I don't have one. This was the 3rd question on a site that didn't matter and I think I was so excited to see the hobby question bcz I never do. My SO (he's a CTO) his first reaction was also the "crap" which I guess could be. This led me to an analysis of words that contain other *bad* words which is comical in itself. But yes, please peas, don't actually answer the questions!
