About FL water: We've had the "rotten egg" smell & discoloration since we moved here 10 years ago! It's silent knowledge here that if you live in a house, you get a water filtration system and carbon filters on all showers, etc. Most people in apartments do the carbon filters on showers at least. We don't DARE drink the tap water. Using the dishwasher often makes the dishes MORE dirty/stinky, but washing them by hand is just as gross. I've checked into filtration systems but they won't do anything in this complex about the water. They all stand by the "water is clean here!!" You can't ever get water reports, etc. down here. I haven't been able to get it. It's no surprise that they use oxygen to clean the water here vs being environmentally clean! Instead, people are free to use poisons on their lawns (roundup, etc...) and let it all filter into our drinking water.

On Monday, the Haywood County Mountaineer published an op-ed slamming Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) for ignoring the needs of his constituents amid catastrophic flooding that has wrecked homes and businesses across Appalachian North Carolina.

"In a 24-hour span from Tuesday into Wednesday, Western North Carolina experienced flood destruction on a level not witnessed for 17 years," wrote Callie Pruett. "Yet, as the floodwaters rose with fury — destroying homes and businesses in their path — and finally receded in the late morning hours of Wednesday, Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC-11) released no statement, no list of resources or shelters for constituents, and not a single tweet in support of the thousands in WNC residents suffering from the flood. On Wednesday morning, more than 30 of his constituents were still tragically unaccounted for, according to the Haywood County Sheriff's Office."

Cawthorn, who has repeatedly used his social media platform to attack COVID-19 vaccination efforts, still found time to tweet while the crisis was going on, noted Pruett — he wrote about Trump's border wall and Instagrammed pictures of himself "smoking cigars and listening to conservative podcasts."

Meanwhile, wrote Pruett, Cawthorn and his staffers seemed genuinely caught off-guard by the flood of constituents begging for help, not even realizing their services would be needed.

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who served as Secretary of Energy under former President Donald Trump, is pitching Texas schools on a new product to deal with the state's COVID-19 crisis.

The Houston Chronicle reports that Perry held a lengthy press conference in which he pitched an air-filtration system called Integrated Viral Protection as an alternative to mask mandates in schools.

However, the Chronicle reports that Perry has a financial interest in the company behind the product, and he got snippy when a reporter asked him about how much of a stake he had in seeing its products succeed.

"Well, that's none of your business," he replied to a reporter. "I'm not a public official anymore."

Boebert neglects to report source of DH income, hers .. ownership of gas sources from their property and he is paid by them while she sits on the gas and energy committee! Heavy losses from her Shooters bar and why did that bar need a cargo plane? Conflict, much?

Lauren Boebert, the pro-gun Colorado Republican and Trump loyalist, failed to disclose that her husband worked for an energy consulting firm even as she pushed for looser regulations on oil and gas drilling as a member of the House Natural Resources Committee. If the intention was to conceal the source of the Boeberts' income and the obvious conflict of interest, the Post reports, the failure to disclose could be a criminal act.

Further investigation by Salon reveals just how closely tied both the congresswoman and her husband, Jayson Boebert, are to the Colorado natural gas industry, which raises the question of why Rep. Boebert was assigned to the committee with direct oversight over-regulating that business.

You know, I don’t think people are getting the memo that our democracy is still hanging by a thread and we are no longer that shining beacon. I think the people trying to come here for assylum ought to know we are 1 voter suppressed election away from an autocracy right now ( be it 2022 or 2024 ) and they might want to put a pin in trying to come here. There are other countries south of us that are not hanging by threads.
