My first reaction is "no" on anything personalized, but I have to admit those spoons are darn cute.

IMO those things are cute but they’re used for such a short time before they end up just being more clutter. Personalized stuff is much harder to pass on or sell once it’s no longer used or needed especially if the kid’s name has a Kre8ive spelling.

I'd do the puzzle but maybe do their last name instead of the baby's first name so they could use it for other children they might have?

I like the puzzle - it can be a room decoration until they are old enough to play with it.

If the mom has made a registry, buy something off the registry. Please. If she hasn’t then I would go for something personalized.

I was just looking up their two registries and there are some things that weren't purchased. Baby was born a week ago, so I'm thinking they bought nursing pads and a few other basics elsewhere. A ton of stuff from th eir registries was purchased. Wondering if you have fave brands of clothing for your little one. And I'm sorry, i don't remember if you had a daughter or son. How is parenthood treating you?

And when in doubt, diapers and wipes are always appreciated. They probably registered for a particular brand of diapers on there so stick with that. We got a bunch of diapers I didn’t care for, but we still used them until they were done! As for wipes, Water Wipes are the gold standard. I also think books are a good choice. Opt for a favorite from your childhood that is less common — everyone gets Goodnight Moon or The Very Hungry Caterpillar, etc. Or get something from Target with a gift receipt and they can exchange if they don’t need it. We got a million baby blankets, bibs, and burp cloths for whatever reason and I wish we had receipts for them.

We gifted them a bookcase for their nursery which was on their wish list along with 10 or more favorite books. Books are my all time favorite gifts for kids. I heard the bookcase is pretty full already! Would hate to send books they already have. I had never heard of Water Wipes. Thanks! And yes, diapers are always needed but I don't actually know if they're using disposables. I suppose the registry should tell me that. However, they can most def. afford to buy diapers so that feels too boring in this case. I'd like to send something special. Do you have a favorite brand or two for your kids' clothing?

That bookcase and books sound amazing!! As for clothing brands, my favorite everyday clothes are from H&M kids! Cute and affordable. They are good enough quality, too, and won’t wear out by the time they move on in size. I also love Primary clothing (online only). It’s all very basic in pattern and color (that’s their thing though), but the quality is outstanding for the price. They run TTS. Now that my kid is a toddler (16 mo), I tend to just buy Old Navy and Target clothing because she comes home from daycare with paint and marker all over her, ha. Can’t wear anything too cute.

If they will be traveling or visiting family a lot maybe a toddler backpack with the child's initials (I would not do name for safety reasons). Parents can use it for bringing baby stuff that doesn't fit in the diaper bag and my kids loved having their own backpack as toddlers.

How is parenthood treating you? I have a little boy! We don’t really do much, haha covid, so he lives in onesies. I’m partial to Old Navy, H&M, and Hudson Baby. They are all pretty neutral but still colorful. Onesies and sleepers are about all my son wears, sometimes I put him in a t shirt and shorts. Gift cards are another great option and one of our favorite gifts was a gift card for GrubHub, it was so nice to just order a meal and not have to justify all the fees. Parenthood is going well! We are almost at six months and I feel like we are in a pretty good groove. We go on our first trip next month and we are so excited for a change of scenery.

I know they may not be practical but I am a sucker for personalized things. Love both gift ideas you linked.

How is parenthood treating you? Gowns that have snaps and can be worn as sleepers or gowns. Two great brands are Kissy Kissy and Magnolia Baby. Also Three Martha's hooded towels. All these items are pricey 38-45, but will last and last. Our grandsons 5 & 8 are still using their baby hooded towels.

Another popular clothing item are the sleepers that zip from either direction. I've only had them from Target and Old Navy but there may be other brands that make them. example

Wait...... there are registries for BABIES?!
I LOVE the spoons, and the puzzle, and would have loved to receive both of those personalised items for either of my kids. And as you said, the fact that the mum is a vet makes the animal puzzle even better.

If you really want to get something personalized get some Mables Lables. They are great, can be washed and stay stuck! We have them with our last name. It is great for school, sports, recreation, daycare, etc. mabelslabels.com

She wore that nightgown until it didn’t fit anymore 😂

I like both the spoons and the puzzle. The puzzle is especially nice since the child will learn to spell their name and recognize the animals.

Love the spoons and they will be used forever. Perfect size for yogurt and pudding. DD still uses some baby spoons for her yogurt. She's 33! It sounds like they've gotten pretty much everything they wanted, and you've given them a very practical gift. Now's the time to send a little fun gift!
