I got an email about it and figure it’s techniques rather than learning about cardstock per se. Like strip cutting, paper piecing, etc. I do a lot of strip cutting from cardstock, rejected backgrounds, etc., and the more I make the more possibilities emerge. : ) Funny there’s no teaser video though.
Sort of like there are tons of ways to use inks.
”Over the course of 10 videos, you’ll learn multiple ways to stretch your cardstock stash. Each card in class comes with a complete video tutorial...”
I meant to enroll and forgot so thank you.

You're welcome CardBoxer. I figured its techniques, but I watch a lot of YT videos so I'm not sure what new techniques are out there that I haven't seen. Maybe I wait and see 2hat you think of it. I can buy this anytime, right?

i can't help but think this is geared toward crafting beginners. i can't imagine there is anything they could show me about cardstock that i haven't already picked up on youtube or just through regular crafting.

Absolutely. : ) I think in a lot of classes there’s very little truly new, but often I’m reminded of something I hadn’t thought of, or a different way of using something, and even better, some twist I enjoy. But sometimes there’s something new too. And a class or video can be an inspiration. (I won’t admit that sometimes I spend so much time watching that there’s very little making.) My guess is you’ve seen 99.9% of techniques, whether they be cardstock, ink or something else.

Considering my ridiculously vast stash of cardstock, I don’t think I need ways to stretch it, but if anyone signs up, please let us know if they taught anything fun.

I signed up. I always think if I learn one useful thing, it's worth it.
I just watched Jennifer's video on warped cutting plates and learned quite a few things. Hopefully this class is the same.

I think it’s great - after watching just parts of two videos. (The cat we adopted a couple days ago and our resident cat are taking up a lot of time. Plus some family stuff.) I already have more to try out than in classes I’ve spent a couple hundred bucks for.
Caveat: I make strip cards, and love geometrics and abstracts. A couple of hints and cards totally float my boat. But it’s not for everyone. It’s like if someone was enjoying a card class about making scenes. I never make scene cards though love seeing others’ cards with scenes. So no scene class for me, even if it was the best ever.

Today’s theme is pattern, and what’s made could be used for geometric cards, or used within a shape for non-geometric cards, like is the case for a ripped strip card. That’s just day 1 - and I’ve only watched parts of two of the four (?) videos. I’ve gotten more than my money’s worth, so if the next days’ classes aren’t my jam, that’s entirely fine. There’s also a pdf and forum.

I loved it, too! Definitely worth the money already! Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. I really didn't expect to get so many card ideas on the first day!

The patterned die cut bits on top of leaves was lovely. Day 3 - the gold painted one! I think I could make a version for a year. And can imagine doing versions with multiple smaller cut-outs placed randomly on a card. Like stars. I have to find nested stars. Immediately. lol ETA Maybe even with reverse rainbows... heroarts.com/collections/infinity-dies/products/di944-rainbow-infinity-dies-hSince that takes me to year two, apparently I can get rid of 85% of my stash.

Does anyone know if these classes will be viewable rewatchable videos? Or were they live only?
Thanks.

Does anyone know if these classes will be viewable rewatchable videos? Or were they live only? Thanks. Yes, you can sign up for the classes part way through or when it’s over. It’s not actually live. Several videos are released each morning along with pdfs, and students can ask instructors questions and chat in a forum. If you register after the class is over, the forum will be read only. I just checked a class I took several years ago and still have access. ETA - I forgot - there will a live get together on Saturday.

Definitely not all geometrics. Debby Hughs' project is exquisite - soft and dimensional. Of course everything she does is beautiful. Cards by other instructors use florals, etc. I may have seen a butterfly. lol

Thank You to azcrafty and CardBoxer for the information about these classes. I consider myself a beginner level card maker and I have a lot of cardstock. I think I can learn some new-to-me ideas and techniques and at $18 very affordable. Thanks again!

Those of you taking the class, how are you liking the rest of the class? Day 1 looked great! Debbie Hugh’s project was worth the price of admission X 10 for me. Subtle yet rich - wreath, twigs, maple leaves, eucalyptus leaves, gesso, watercolors, mica flakes, vellum leaves, twigs, stylus, more... Belongs on a wall. My wall. The title of the class can be taken too literally. Debbie said it well, not that I remember exactly - that cardstock is the base, the foundation of all of our cards. It was not a cardstock 101 or beginner class, though beginners would learn a lot. Weights/differences were discussed on day 1, though I’ve only watched a couple minutes and haven’t seen all the project videos. (Newly adopted cat kept separate from curious resident cat takes up time. Resident cat: “Why can’t I go through that door any more?! I’m worried, pay attention to meee!” Some projects and techniques were simple, some not my cuppa (quilling through stencils), but there are 3-4 a day. Maybe 2 one day? Guest instructors like Debbie, Laura Bassen, Keisha Charles (sp?), Yana, a couple others. I had a couple duh! moments. A hint made strips or tiles placement faster/easier for strip and tile cards I make from ugly backgrounds/CS/patterned papers. There was inspiration and reminders of unused techniques. And while there are thousands of wonderful youtube videos, this was well packaged with instructors answering forum questions, a student gallery, cover sheet/project pdfs, etc. Oh - marg I’m almost sure if you join today you can be in this evening’s live chat at 7:00 EDT if you’re free. Classes are available forever, but the forum and student gallery is locked on 9/2 after prizes are announced. Just my take - YMMV.

I finally got caught up. Debby's card is exquisite! I LOVE everything she does, I would love to have her talent. As @cardboxer said, that card alone is worth 10 x the class fee! If anyone is on the fence about this class, sign up. The tips and tricks are well worth it, IMO.

What a bunch of enablers! I caved. Don’t we deserve badges to wear? BTW, some of the student cards are on Instagram but a lot are on Flicker or other places, but all accessible from the student galleries for each day. Some made wonderful cards with some of the simpler techniques - took them to another level. Lots of experienced card makers apparently. Like Kathi Bianuucci’s woven cards.

Okay. Ya got me, azcrafty. Watched all of Day One and part of Day Two. Love all the little tips that make some of this easier--like the Press n Seal to keep pieces in place. So far I have just one card completed, but it's a start...
