NOTE: I started a new thread for posting the projects. Please post your projects in the S/O STAMPtember Inspiration thread, since this thread kind of morphed into whether challenges belong on this board.
I am not a SSS shopper. I peeked to see what all the hype was about, only to see that it’s about exclusive stamps and dies. I’ll admit. I was disappointed. I thought perhaps it included tips, tutorials, and/or challenges for using stamps. Apparently not. It sounds like it’s about spending money, lots of money, on “exclusives” at SSS. I’m in the “fridge” and I have a ton of stamps I love and intend to use, but I haven’t gotten around to using them. I’m not going to be sucked into buying even more stamps just because they are “exclusives.”
I know we have CARDtober coming, and I am really looking forward to it, but maybe as a run up to it, we could hijack the STAMPtember name and have our own modified, no cost version of STAMPtember, with a very simple stamp challenge each week? Not a daily thing, since most of us get a bit burned out if we do all the CARDtober challenges, but it would be just 5 easy stamp specific challenges, spread out through the month, and we get to share our cards or layouts based on each week’s challenge. Besides, it would be nice to get this board moving with a bit more inspiration.
For example, we could have challenges such as:
Week 1 (Sep. 1st through 7th) Use a stamp or stamp set that you’ve had for more than 6 months, but you‘ve never actually gotten around to using;
Week 2 Use your most recently purchased stamp/stamp set;
Week 3 Use embossing powder and heat to get an embossed, stamped image; OR use a different way of coloring your stamped image than you usually use (I use Copics, but I would use colored pencils or watercolors instead; this would be for those who don’t own embossing powder/heat gun);
Week 4 Create a card background with stamps, then use a matted and stamped image that coordinates with the background.
Final “Mad Dash” challenge for Sep. 29th and 30th would be “anything goes,” as long as it’s stamped.
I’m open to suggestion as far as the challenges, if anyone has better ideas. The challenges listed aren’t set in concrete, and I’ll be happy to take suggestions, but I wanted to keep it simple. I don’t want people burned out before CARDtober. Now back to my main question……
Is anyone interested in this kind of STAMPtember challenge? The nice thing about it, is we hopefully use what we already own, and have fun sharing, hopefully without spending a cent. Those who are part of teams can also have an additional way to earn points if they want.
Anyone interested?

I love your idea! I'm not typically a card maker but I've been looking longingly at my old stamp supplies. I have no mojo right now, but if I find it, I would love to play along.

My only suggestion is to please post these on the challenge board. That's where they belong.

pinklady, it would be a total of 5 extra posts/threads at most. I can even keep it to just this thread if it upsets people. However, CARDtober is posted here. This is a board about stamping and card making, and I don’t think everyone is in agreement as to what belongs here. And people can skip the threads they have no interest in. This board is so slow, though, and the challenge board so much faster, I prefer to keep it here. As I said, I can keep the STAMPtember challenge posts to just this thread if it bothers more people than not. One thread is easy to skip, and it’s not like 31 separate CARDtober challenges. I will, however, run it by grammadee , and see what she thinks. Just curious, do the monthly challenges posted by azcrafty bother you, too?

I think we should link them in the challenge for September but leave it here for people who participate. This board is always quiet and it will be easier to find it especially because there is the sketchtember going on on the challenge board. This will get lost.

ALL of the challenges, including Cardtober, should be posted on the challenge board. What's the point of the board if it's not being used to house ALL of the challenges? Why are some challenges treated differently than others?
Yes, I can scroll by just as easy as you can go to a different board.

I don’t see the problem with it being on both boards, but the challenge board does move faster, and it can be more easily overlooked. As long as grammadee is okay with my posting it here, that is what I’ll do. I don’t really go to the challenge board unless I am participating on a team, and being on a team is just not an option for me right now. I added the suggestion of those on a team having a chance to get more points as an additional incentive. It won’t benefit me, but I’m fine with those on teams getting some points out of it. My DH had a massive heart attack in March. He is gradually recovering, but I am his sole caregiver, and crafting is my sanity saver. It’s one of the few things that I do for myself. If anyone else here wants to dig out their neglected stamps and play along, I’ll be delighted.

I love this idea scrapnnana and I like that you posted all the ideas and will be easier to plan. I'm on the teams all the time ,but other than checking in, get the challenges and go back to post my points I kind of forget to go back to it. Lots of time I miss out on the chats.

I guess I considered it an inspiration/idea/stepping off point rather than a challenge. But we may all see it differently. Happy it will be on both boards for everyone. scrapnnana I hope your DH is doing ok and feeling better!

Thank you, melanieg, he has definitely improved, but he still has a ways to go. I’ve posted a card that I made this evening based on the inspiration prompt, in the STAMPtember Inspiration thread. I hope you’ll all join in!

Life is too short to stress over little things. Wherever you put this is fine with me, and thank you for posting it. I hope your husband is feeling better and getting stronger.
