What I got: Travel mug with a Multipurpose Tool Pocket Knife. However, I saw so many things that I decided to bring extra gifts for everyone and we can play twice.
I had a ton of mugs in the attic and I got them down and need about 6 or 7 more gifts to have everyone a 2nd gift. Just odered 4 more little handheld electronic games from amazon for the guys. Plan to get some more jewelry for the girls.
I got jewelery, little toys, small lego set, leggings, flashlights, games, bluetooth speaker, night vision glasses, small candy bars to stuff in the extra spaces, etc. Dh helped me pick out the man stuff. He says I am going to get yelled at for bringing extra gifts. So much fun, though, it will be worth it.
Thanks everyone! I went shopping and was amazed how many things you can get to fit in a mug. I was freaking out over nothing! I think this is going to be a fun, stress free Christmas game for everyone.
My family came up with this for Christmas: we are supposed to get a gift that will fit in a mug and play the game where you can "steal" from each other.( I'm not sure what all the rules are) There are no $$ limits.
We have all ages from 3 to 72. Most of the kids are boys. 2 girls. Everyone is pretty tech savy. I would like to get something really nice.

With an age span like that all I can think of is cash.

Decent sized flash drive and memory card. And some candy in case the 3 year old gets it.
Or
Homemade booklet of 'coupons' for things you can do for the recipient, with cover saying 'choose one coupon to be redeemed'. They could be things like mowing the lawn, cooking a 3-course meal, going to the zoo ...

I wouldn't worry about coming up with a gift the fits the entire range of ages/genders. But pick an age range/gender with several people in it that is a range you enjoy shopping for. Aim your mug contents at them.
it is easier to shop for 50-70 year old women or for kids 3-9 than for a range from 3-72. Since the game is to steal the mug you want make it desirable to a smaller group. make sense?

I agree with Volt. I don't think there is any way to make the mug appeal to EVERYONE in that range. That's just way too broad. I would focus in on one of the groups and get something that would appeal to that group.

I would put jewelry in the mug. Probably a necklace and earring set.

I bought this thing at HL a couple weeks ago that lets you take selfies/pictures with your cell phone... You download the free app, and in the package is a little remote and stand (to prop the phone up with)... It was $20... It works really well and could probably cover most ages...

How fun. They will love it, even if they yell at you for bringing too much.
