Hello all,
I’m curious on how you all store your albums.
I had mine out within an IKEA shelving unit (so I could see them) and I’ve noticed that one of my DD albums is seriously sun bleached on the ends it’s no longer red but pink! I didn’t really think much of this as I almost always see albums stored out in the open.
I’m very lucky in that I have an attic room as my craft room, even though there is only one point you can stand at full height! It’s got three small velux roof lights so I don’t want to cut of the light as it’s really good but the only way to realistically store them now is behind closed doors which is upsetting.
I’m wondering if maybe I get a clear coloured door to the shelving unit whether this might solve my issue 🤔

I have an IKEA 2x4 Kallax in the family room that is home to most of my albums. The ones in progress are in my scrapbook room. They don't get looked at a ton in the family room, but wouldn't get looked at ever if they were all in say my scrapbook room.

I have a 1 x 5 Better home and garden cube unit, that lays on it's side. I have my scrapbooks(3 ring binders) stored in the cubes, in chronological order by year starting in 1996. I am many years behind, so there's still one empty cube. I have decorative items/home decor on the top of it. It sits underneath my photo ledge wall.
When I get closer to this one being filled, I'll figure what I want to do to hold the future scrapbooks.
An ideas I thought of..... A wooden wagon/cart (with memories and photographs painted on the side) and put a few of the scrapbooks in it. If it were deep enough, the scrapbooks could sit at the back, and a candle, photo frame, cute sign, lantern, etc...could sit in front of them.

As long as the insides of the albums are safe I’m not sure I would worry too much about the fading. Keeping them somewhere where they will get looked at might be more important. Putting a door or shade over the unit might help but will it be a barrier to people enjoying the album? I’m not sure if a clear glass door would do much to stop sun fading unless the glass was UV coated (and even that only does so much, I gather).
I only have a few albums and there’s only one place they really fit in the bottom of a built in bookcase in the living room. Otherwise I would have to keep them in the top of my closet where they would be so safe no one would know they existed except me!

We have one of the pre-Kallax units with doors and open shelves in our family room. The albums are there. No fading. But there isn’t any direct sunlight hitting the unit. I have albums from 1996 on in there.

I have book shelves all over the house, most of them very tall, and my albums are stored on them.

Thanks everyone, looks like we all store them in the same way. Will have to see if it’s direct sunlight they got. The inside looks good so it’s just vanity on my side wanting nice albums. Might also be because they are fabric not faux leather 🙃
