With all the talk of SSS Stamptember and SU's Sale-A-Bration, there's lots of opportunity for FOMO this month. I've purchased from Stamptember in the past and you know what? Most of those stamps haven't been used yet. And as for Sale-A-Bration, most of the stamps eventually show up on buy-sell-trade groups on FB. The paper and dies are a different story though. I did place multiple SU orders with my "dealers" though. I keep a running wish list and try to only buy during Sale-A-Bration. Unfortunately, they've moved to Sale-A-Bration twice a year.
Any other FOMO opportunities out there?

Tim Holtz's Halloween and Christmas Distress stains and pastes were designed to create FOMO. He said that, "When they're gone, they're gone. They won't be coming back." He said that he knew that a lot of people were upset, but that's the way it was. I didn't buy anything, because I realized that I have very similar products already that would work just as well. I'm also turned off by this "Too bad, so sad" attitude and the frenzied FOMO it creates.

Not only the "it's gone" be, but lately he's been on this "you do you" rant. Like, he uses something, he does this, but you do you. He sounds fairly childish. Oh, and riversong1963 , happy birthday to you!

FOMO is a very effective marketing tool, but it may be used by some companies because they tend to get “stuck” with seasonal merchandise that hasn’t sold. However, if I’m not loving a product, FOMO isn’t likely to get me to buy it. I don’t like the tactic, even if I understand why some companies do it. I don’t like being manipulated.
I have never bought from SSS, and I have bought very little from SU in recent years. I did get their stamp platform, and there was some FOMO there, but only because they are/were being sued. I liked their design of stamping platform, and I had a legitimate concern that the lawsuit might prevent me from being able to buy it later.
SSS had a fun background stamp that Nicole Spohr used on her “witch in the cauldron” card. I doubt I would use such a background stamp over and over, so it would be really hard for me to justify the cost, especially since I can use the SU stamp platform to create a similar background with a stamp that I already have in my stash. The SU stamp platform plates are movable for making borders and patterns.
As for the one stamp set (witch in the cauldron set) that I did seriously consider buying from SSS, I decided that if I really wanted, I could easily create a similar card using die cuts instead of stamps. There would be little to no cost for me that way, and I wouldn’t have to wait for anything to ship. FOMO problem solved.

Hero Arts Kits! I just saw the new one, with sunflowers and had to have it, and I know they frequently sell out, so couldn't think about it too hard. There have only been one or two that I really had to have, though.
Gina K has a touch of it with her kits - once they're sold out, the kit is gone. But at that point, you can purchase the individual components separately, so not really FOMO - and sometimes it's better to wait, if you only like one of the sets in the kit. The kit is definitely a better bargain, though, if you like all of it. Actually, that's one of my favorite things about her business. Free incentive set that changes every month - once the new set is released, the old one becomes available as a set you can purchase. Sometimes it takes a while for restocks, but aside from collabs with Simon Says and Thermoweb, no FOMO.

When they have a new release each month, if you want everything, there is a special price for a specific time. After that, you can buy the individual components, but it will cost more than their “I Want It All” kit if you are buying everything. If you love sunflowers, that is this month’s release. It will be available tomorrow, but you can still see what it is.

It wasn't just that I liked the stamp A LOT, but the layered stencil for it pushed me over the edge.

cbet, if you ever became a platinum member of Heartfelt Creations, no matter how long ago, they honor that for life, and you get one day’s early access to the new products. Their program now is called something else and is $12.99/month, but it includes all their classes. If you like their classes, it’s a better deal than the Platinum membership was, but I’ve already gotten my money’s worth from my Platinum membership and then some. I love a lot of their products. I have ordered once from Hero Arts, but it was from a monthly kit of long before that still had some items left. Their current offering of the sunflower stamp is nice, and I can see why the color layering stencils would be appealing. I love sunflowers. They grow wild everywhere here, but I have other sunflower stamps that I like better. I think it’s interesting that both Hero Arts and Heartfelt Creations have sunflowers as their September stamp release. Does anyone else have sunflowers as a new release this month?

Gina K had a sunflower set in her last release, too. I love sunflowers, and I don't have many of them, so I refuse to feel guilty. And you know what else causes serious FOMO? Jennifer McGuire using anything in a video. Once she shows it, it's out of stock and challenging to find

Well so far nothing they have for September is enough fomo for me. I'm happy about that because I have way too many stamps and at least a 3rd have never been used. And....I donated a ton to the local thrift store.

I forgot to add that I did buy an SSS card kit once because for the cost of the stamp and die, I also got the other goodies in the card kit. I don't like the kits enough to subscribe, but I do get a twinge of FOMO every release.
I forgot about the Tim Holtz stuff. When I heard the spiel, I knew I didn't want them.

The stamps and products that Nicole Spohr showcased are sold out, along with nearly everything else of the 2021 STAMPtember offerings. FOMO seems to be a huge issue for many crafters.
