Is it for scrappers that normally aren’t doing Project Life?
thanks for any thoughts!

Some people do one or the other but a lot of people prefer to do both. Obvs everyone takes a slightly different approach to both projects but in general DD is more in depth, a daily story each day in December. Some people do what Ali Edwards does and include non-holiday stories, like a dentist appointment or an ordinary day at home, but a lot of people try to keep it strictly holiday stories, so they might fudge the dates so they can split a busy Christmas event day into 3 entries, or they might have a use a boring day to show wrapping paper or a playlist. Many people who do both projects keep normal life in their PL pages and Christmas life in their DD pages, but some people repeat stories in both or use different photos from the same event. Some people just skip December in their PL album and do it all in DD. There are lots of ways to do it!

I do Project Life every year from January - November. I do December Daily from Thanksgiving weekend - December 25. You can do both; I just prefer to focus on all the Christmas things, all the time during the Christmas season.

I'm not a PL scrapper but I did December Documented one year...I focused on Christmas activities and traditions in my DD album and everyday life in my family album - I do have a few Christmas layouts in there as well though.

I consider December Daily/any type of December-focused album (Journal Your Christmas, freestyle) to be at the very least an extended version of the type of recording you do with Project Life. For many, it's also an expansion with reflections on things past. Just like Project Life has evolved away from the original concept and can take on many forms besides weekly pocket pages, December Daily has too. Nowadays, you'll find mixed media journals, photo books, TN inserts, mini albums, etc.
December Daily is also the most common used term for December albums but many people document beyond the month, some including the actual 12 days of Christmas that run up to January 6, others beginning in November with Thanksgiving or putting up the tree for the early decorators. There are scrapbookers who will use December every-other-daily or December not-so-daily because they feel the need to express that they don't actually adhere to the daily concept but rather the idea of a more intense type of documenting than what is usually done with Project Life pages.
The original creator of the concept of documenting all the way through the Christmas season is actually Shimelle when she began Journal Your Christmas which has a focus broader than what Project Life usually encapsulates (including memories from past Christmases and reflections). Ali Edwards used to participate in that. She ended up leaving JYC behind to create the December Daily concept with, eventually, paid classes and a yearly product offer.
Of course, there's also the appeal of having your December months stored away as separate books to underline the special nature of the Christmas season, like a concentrate of magic that returns every year. They often include family portraits and recurring elements like the home and the neighbourhood, allowing for a snapshot of how everything in life is evolving with the kids growing up, fashion and décor changing, new pets being added to the family, etc.

I do some form of PL every year and also do a December album. There is a little bit of overlap in stories or photos or both on the key events, but there are a lot of smaller stories that I include in my Dec album that don't make the cut for my PL album, things like my wrapping paper choices each year, a list of the movies or music or podcasts that get played through the month, or my to do list in the lead up to Christmas day which is often a mix of Christmas related stuff and everyday stuff like mow the lawn. I feel like my Dec album gives a better look at my real life, which is a mix of the scrapbook worthy stuff, and the more mundane, and I really like flipping back through my albums and seeing how things have changed or what new traditions have emerged over the years.

My "December Daily" pocket pages are just the last pages of my July-December pages. But I treat them a little differently. Each entry is a 3x4 journal card and a 3x4 photo or supporting element (like the actual wrapping paper...). I make sure to find something for each day, even if, as mentioned above, it is a playlist or a festive cocoa mug. I use coordinated cards or patterned cardstock throughout the whole month instead of just one page.

I do PL monthly and December “daily”. Sometimes it’s not daily. 😉 I try to do real life, daily stuff in PL. DD is focused on holiday activities or favorite holiday traditions, activities, etc. Sometimes there is a little overlap and im good with that.

I do both projects. My DD is usually 31 stories that end up being a mix of (mostly) holiday with some everyday life stuff thrown in like I moved last December so that story will go in both albums (I'm super behind both on PL 2020 and my DD2020). I don't care if I use the same photos in both albums. I don't worry at all about what happened on what day either. If there's a story I want to tell from November, like attending a holiday event, it goes in my DD as one of those 31 stories.
My PL is weekly, but in December, it usually drops down to 2 weeks per 2 page spread and I don't worry about that either. Future me will be happy anything is documented. The one thing I do try to do, is jot down some notes every day in December so I have a better idea of what stories I want to tell, especially if I end up working on the album months later. For my normal PL, the goal is always daily notes, but typically I get maybe 15 or so days and then I use photos and text messages to help jog my memory.

I do Project Life. Two years ago I bought a kit to do December Daily but quickly realised that it was kind of pointless (for me) because I was using the exact same photos that were going onto my PL pages. I didn't bother finishing the DD pages. I think that if I did paper scrapping, instead of digital scrapping, I would be more likely to make a mini DD album as well as a 12x12 PL album.
The one good thing about it, was that it forced encouraged me to get into the Christmas spirit more, just so I would have Christmassy type photos to use!

I have been doing project life this year and have been working on a consecutive Christmas album for the last couple of years but I don't do what is viewed as a typical December daily.
I love the look and idea of a whole album or mini book dedicated to Christmas but we don't really get into the Christmas spirit so much and its super hot where I am so there is not a whole lot of baking and winter wonderland stuff, lots of hiding indoors with the aircon on which is not really interesting to record day after day. I find that doing a couple of pocket pages to highlight the small amount of Christmas things we do and maybe one or two full pages is what works the best for me.
